Charles Did like 15 oh Murder broken down to Manslaughter and lived through prison. I been to prison and Im not gangster but thanks to family I was born into Cosa Nostra connections so it kept me safe but it was a horrible place

at 11:04, Clifton Powell (Playing Andre) actually feared for his life, reminding Charles (S. Dutton, playing Roc), by uttering his name, that they were acting. Apparently, the choking was all too real..... Powerful stuff

I was a child when this show was out. Roc reminded me of my grandfather. We need a show like this so bad right now. Roc is the example we need to clean our neighborhoods. Such an inspiration

This is one of the only times that 90's television made sense. It wasnt the gimmicks or TGIF. Id watch a modern film with Charles S. Dutton portraying ROC. Maybe homeless after everyone is dead and gone. But a Martyr in his story.

The ROC show was like no other. It was sad that it only lasted 3 seasons. The show should be an inspiration to all inspiring young black actors and actresses. Today’s “hit the audience laugh button” doesn’t work for me.

I grew 🆙 in the Crack Era and none of these type of men presence were available during the Crack Era. How a guy like Roc with NO opportunity gon tell a kid that’s making $800 to $1000 a night to 🛑 selling drugs . Those Roc type of figures only had WORDS with NO opportunity.

Yes Sad thing is we were breakdancing before crack hit the streets. We got set-up. It’s all a part of set-up and we’re on the bottom of totem pole. Cocaine from Colombia, Heroine from Afghanistan, Fentanyl from legalized pharmaceutical industry. All set-up to ensure ex-slaves remain mental slaves. Willie Lynch syndrome at its best.

I will say it again, I may not be a fan of this show (there are some stupidities), but there are more Rocs than the security guard from "The Wire." First of all I highly doubt Charles Dutton is politically conservative. Even so hes a rational Democrat. Second Republicans fought for non-whites and it was them who caused Brown vs Board. Now the only reason I'd be against the Civil Rights bill is because of Board. I don't like the notions of more and more laws. I value my freedoms. Why should we have laws to protect the rights when black people should have been protected by the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments? That's what we have judicial review for. To stop arbitrary interpretation.
