I realize that the shows that I used to watch as a kid, I NEED TO rewatch as AN ADULT. There is so much information that I missed as a kid.

Roc one of the best shows ever that never gets brought up.

No way were they going to let ROC stay on the air. This show was too real. Especially back then. This show was waking people up. Especially black people.

I'm a 63 year old white woman who has enjoyed the show 'Roc'. Charles S. Dutton and all the actors are fabulous. I watch it every chance I get on cable. (Charles was in the movie Alien III with Sigourney Weaver). Very serious topics were discussed on this show but it was also a very funny show. They were making fun of Joey being a slacker or Roc picking up "perks" on his garbage route. Ella Joyce, Carl Gordon. Rocky Carroll, who went on to play a prosecutor on Law & Order. The occasional appearance of Garret Morris in the neighborhood bar. I've always loved this TV show. I'm glad I'm able to still see it.

There was another show on Fox called South Central that was just as gritty as Roc. That show didn't last long either. TV executives just weren't ready for it.

I was treated a lot like this going home one day. Opening the gate, key in hand. He wouldn't hear it. 5 other cars swarmed the place.

I can relate to this. Let me tell you a story. I was wrongfully held against my will by security over a misunderstanding at a anime con I went to. They thought I was shoplifting a DVD from the dealer's room! I wasn't! I was trying to get a space in line so I could buy it quicker so I could get to a guests autograph session! I was mistreated, theatened, and bullied by con security! They didn't listen to reason, just dismissed everything I said...I did NOTHING. And they were going to throw me out of the con over a misunderstanding!? And this is the short version....

The ratings wasnt the reason they canceled the show. it was canceled because it was to "black". and it exposed alot of the things that is still going on to this day. same with the show like South Central . only black shows that last some what long is the shows that appeal to white folks as well

Im legit shocked how well the acting is for a sitcom on fox. Im a Hispanic male but i 100 percent understand the themes of this show and damn it aged well. The things that are happening then are still issues with minorities in America, things never change. After learning the history of the main actor's past with the law, he seems to not to be even acting and is expressing his true self because he lived through it. This could have been an award winning show if fox kept it going but they knew it would cause controversy because how they want to suppress issues like this and keep people down. Great show.
