we must have missed the part where he inspired the ref to NOT stop the fight in the 2nd round when Rocko was getting smashed, wobbling around, and not even protecting himself.
According to Mr Ts daughter she says in a interview Mr T still had a grudge for Sly Stallone for not paying him more money for his Rocky lll role plus he still thinks he shoulda came back for Rocky 4 like what they did to Apollo in first two movies plus Mr T turned down A couple more offers to appear with him especially Rocky Balboa in 2006 and the Expendables movies
"Oh, no no no. He's not getting killed. He's getting MAD." Paulie has been Rocky's friend for years at this point. He can easily read his body language and knows that Rocky used to be a collector and enforcer. He sees the signs that Rocky is about to take it up a gear. A great scene.
I agree with the Rocky and Paulie friendship. Most people think that Rocky 1 was a boxing movie but it wasn’t… It was a love story and people forget Rocky used to collect and break thumbs for Mr. Gazzo.
I'm so glad you said this. As messed up as Paulie could be at times, his heart was in the right place whenever it truly counted. The great thing about 3 was that it was the beginning of showing the growth of Paulie as an individual, as much crap as he gave Apollo at first about his training methods, before they walked out for the second fight Paulie said, "you've done good, Apollo", to which Creed said, "thank you, Paulie", showing that he got over his hang-ups and respected how hard Apollo worked to get Rocky ready. They got along good afterwards, even though Paulie threw Apollo off with his robot and comics in 4.😂
@@user-tl9fk5ne5h exactly right, it was a film about two lost souls finding love for each other. A beautiful story about pure love for another individual.
I love how he calmed down and was like "go and get him. He's just a man" and then he steps out of the ring and comes back into frame and yells like "BE MORE MAN THAN HIM"
I saw this at the pictures, trust me those missed punched by Lang going through the air was brilliant and gave a sense of power and menace. It was a better fight than both of those with Creed in terms of drama and excitement.
I think it is because Apollo’s style of boxing didn’t work well against Drago so Rocky had to go to his old brawler style of boxing to beat him. Plus, there is a thing called “styles makes fights.” :3
At 7:15, when Rocky landed that combo to Clubber's ribs, I always imagine Apollo standing outside the ring thinking, "I can _personally vouch for how much that hurts!"_
@@raywideman7157 Hey, don't forget that Creed went 2 full fights against Rocky, despite getting his guts caved in (after not even taking the first fight seriously) and taking a pounding from a guy that dropped Lang in 3 rounds and beat Drago. Don't let Rocky 4's result make you forget that Apollo was made of steel in the first 2, he just didn't have that fire anymore (which he admits in 3).
Yeah man. She was always at his side. She went from being a quiet girl to a grown woman to a wonderful wife and mother. I'm still glad she gets mention in the new Creed movies.
I loved all of the first four *_Rocky_* movies, but this was the film that solidified why the story was so intense. Rocky being willing to learn a new style and blend it with his own really made him the better boxer.
Agreed. This film showed him learning to move his head, improve his footwork and GO to the body. The latter would eventually be the go-to against Drago in a dire situation .
I totally agree and heres a metal cover from a guitarist from the swedish band Sabaton. Though from the training montage of Rocky IV, still i love his rendition of this, cheers from Sweden and stay safe everyone! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-e2R-3gC5QjY.html
I've met Mr T at a WWF match 1990 .He was sitting 3 rows in front of me and a lot of kids were going up to him .I at the time was wearing a gigantic cast on my left leg and was able to talk with him a while .He's a strong softy !..Very nice guy !
Saw him at a Boxing event back when USA Network had Boxing was 18 at the time was afraid to approach him with the Fear he would have a Clubber Lang Flashback
Saw him at this Boxing event in the 90s that USA network had . My Uncle wanted me to approach him but I gotta say even at 18 he scared the Piss off me . So I didn't approach him was afraid he would have a Clubber Lang Flashback if I did
From what I understand, Mr. T wanted Clubber to win the rematch so they could end it as a trilogy where Rocky lost to someone better than him and Apollo.
Clubber Lang is a very unique opponent for Rocky, Rocky beat Apollo and Drago through sheer heart. Clubber was the only “Rocky” opponent that had more desire to win than Rocky. So Clubber is the only man Rocky beat by outsmarting him.
Rocky didn't outsmart Clubber, what he did was expose the fact that Clubber's stamina/conditioning were an absolute joke. He exposed the fact that Clubber's built to put guys away in 2 to 3 rounds, that he can't go the long haul in a fight. He exposed the fact that Clubber is all offense and no defense.
I love the evolution of Adrian and Rocky as characters. In Rocky 1 he was on his own to go the distance, unable to ask for Adrian's help, but she gave it anyway. Rocky 2 he needed Adrians support to even step in the ring and she provided it. Rocky 3 she had to convince him to fight again (the beach scene is magnificent; she's not going to stay with a guy that won't face his biggest fears). Rocky 4 he's going to do it with or without her and she finally sees that this is my man and I've got to support him no matter what the outcome. In my opinion the Rocky saga is more a love story than it is a boxing saga. I'm 53, divorced and have 2 sons. I would love to know I have earned that level of love and respect from a woman. I'm not there yet, but I'm not giving up just like Rocky.
@@williamljonesjr6695 Kinda like Rocky in the first fight w/Clubber. I believe it was Stu Nahan at the beginning of _this_ fight who said, "Balboa doesn't really have any _boxing skills,_ I've _never_ seen a fighter with as much _raw determination!"_
@@popimp3860, this movie came out in 1982, this was 3 years before Mike Tyson started competing (1985 according to the wiki) in Boxing. I will admit he does make a good Mike Tyson profile though, but I don't think mike was the inspiration for Clubber Lang
One thing this movie did well was show Lang's weakness: a hot temper. Burning himself out raging between rounds and just winging those wide, clubbing punches because anyone standing up to him was an insult. Tyson was very different, brutal but precise.
Ladies and Gentlemen the winner by knockout. In one of the most dramatic comeback in boxing history and once again the heavyweight champion of the world, The Italian Stallion Rocky Balboa!
True story! Sly discovered Mr.T while watching a tough man contest on television. I remember watching that same contest and Mr.T won it. Mr.T said after filming the movie he went back to his normal life not expecting anything else from it. He did receive another role in this movie called Penitentiary 2. He killed it. After Rocky 2 was released his whole world changed!
That barrage of hits at @7:47 is what made this fight memorable, aside from the “ you ain’t so bad” taunts. Full on conditioned assault. Went ape shit as a kid. Clubber Lang is still the goat Rocky villain. Powerhouse. Talked great shit, determined hungry fighter.. but it’s rocky, he went out how he should’ve. Great way to end Clubber. Rocky 3 is a classic. Mickey died, Rocky loses, apollo trained, redemption. True classic
Rocky III is the most heart pounding of all. The final fight between Rocky and Clubber Lang is epic. But of course the fight against Ivan Drago in Rocky IV is really dramatic.
I honestly think this fight is where Apollo believed he could beat Drago. He sees Rocky take an insane amount of punishment against a much stronger opponent and win but unfortunately Drago was juicing and Creed didn't take him seriously enough.
Clubber's lack of stamina/conditioning was totally exposed in this fight. But at least his power was natural,he didn't need any type of enhancement. *looks at Drago*
Slugger vs Outside Boxer. Sluggers put all their points into strength and starter invulnerability, able to absorb hits to close in and end the fight in the first few rounds. Outside Boxing is hard for sluggers to deal with because they play defense and strategize, using counter strikes at opportune moments. It looked like Rocky switched from swarmer to outside boxer. First he unleashed on him and seeing he was absorbing the hits, went to strategy and allowed Clubber to swing himself out, then went back to agressive swarming once Clubber started to show he ran out of fuel.
Adonis Creeds puches would little affect to almost no affect on Clubber Lang he would laugh at Adonis average power Adonis would have the dance around Clubber for 12 Rounds by easily winning on points that's thee only way Adonis would win
@@deandremoore8451 One of my favorite lines was actually from Stu Nahan: "I can't believe I'm saying this, but he _can't corner the fleet-footed challenger! IT'S ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE!"_
If Apollo was based on Ali, then Clubber was surely based on Foreman and this being the Rumble in the Jungle where the huge hitting slugger was outsmarted by the boxer.
Rocky spitting water on Paulie always made me lol as a kid. You would have thought Rocky would have learned the shoulder roll/Philly shell instead of taking so many hits. Apollo had the best lines. Eye of the tiger! He's just a man, be more man than him! Why no rubber match???
Mr. T does have reputation being Toughest Man Alive weither he's from streets or not & that's why he landed roles such as power-hungry maddog Clubber Lang & mechanic short-temper B.A. Baracus from The A Team.
@@just_Lee2 yeah, i love Goku but he isn't exactly human though, Rocky is basically the human version of a super saiyan to me, especially after round 2
this rematch was great, but the best scene of the movie still wasn't this one. it was the one where adrian lit into rocky on the beach after he wasn't giving it his usual all. after her scolding n motivation that's where everything changed n he became rocky again. best scene of the movie in my opinion n one of the best in the whole series too.
Man I remember when this movie came out in 1983 I was in the 8th grade back them you could sit in the movie theater I watch a movie many time as you wanted I miss this time in my life dam it's was wonderful ❤
What I love about all the Rocky films as a boxing fan (despite the immense and obvious awareness that it does not resemble real boxing in terms of damage done, etc.) is the body shots Rocky always used to get out of bad situations. Hit the body!!
