Rock Fan Reacts to Voiceplay's Creep Cover 

VoicePlay once more killing it. This was arranged by Eli. We need more of his arrangements too. I've always loved his arrangement of Eleanor Rigby. Cesar is perfect for intro and outro here, showing his vulnerability.

Eli did the arranging, lighting design, and direction (with Tony Wakim), and really knocked it out of the park!. (The mirror concept started with Geoff.) Cesar is just heartbreaking in this, and the transition near the end focused on him is amazing. I didn't like this song before Voiceplay got their hands on it, and now I love it!

Thank you so much for another great reaction to Voice Play. Cesar has such emotional expressions no matter what song he sings. This song would be perfect for Cesar to sing alone with Geoff, Eli & Layne in the background. I love the way Geoff's bass accompanied Cesar. . Other than that I love them all. The mirror concept was brilliant. Eli really knows how to put things together with the lighting effects & props. They never miss on details. They think of everything.

Anthony's name is pronounced "Garjoola". And this cover made me just melt over a song I was always "meh" about. Its so emotional and beautiful, and what an amazing breakout arrangement by Eli!

I had to come back and listen again to your reaction. Very on point (meaning I understand what you are saying and agree!) I love this version of the song - so human. Eli did a great job on the arrangement, lighting, and all - I hope he does some more as well. Cesar was so right for this part. Simply gorgeous work. For a change of pace check out their Drunken Sailor (this guy, Bucky was in the group when it was 4:2:five).

Loved hearing your input to this! It’s Eli’s arrangement, video design and (as always) lighting. He did a great job! He has only arranged Eleanor Rigby by himself for VoicePlay before, but he nails that special VoicePlay sound! But of course he’s been part of the group for a long time. He’s also done a couple of others together with Geoff or Layne including Queen and Carry On Wayward Son. I hope we’ll get more arrangements from him, the ones we’ve heard have been excellent! VoicePlay had a poll on Patreon, regarding if we wanted them to cover In the air tonight, Creep or some other that I don’tremember. I’m not particulaly fond of any of them, but still preferred In the air tonight over Creep. In the air tonight won, was released, and then they surprised us by releasing this one as well 😊. And I’ve learned by now that I should never doubt them, because whether I like the original or not, their version is always magical ❤.

I wonder how much the difference in ages plays into the different interpretations.Geoff, Layne and and Eli are all in their early 40's where Radiohead was much younger

Just loved your reaction - so much meaty detail! “… to completely transform the way the listener perceives the song…” That! I’m still waiting to not get teary when Cesar solos again at the end, but no luck so far after a dozen+ listens and major ear worming. And Eli, superb arranging!

Yes it's Garjoola. Italian pronunciation. VoicePlay never use the F word. They have their Disney fans to think about. Cesar was very expressive in ths, as was Eli, but it was Anthony who gave me the chills.

Ya, I am the same. I think this is the only song by Radiohead that I've heard. Back when Radiohead released this song, I wasn't really into their genre of music. But I always liked this song, and Voiceplay's cover is just as good, if not better. Eli did an amazing job arranging this cover. And I loved that he had Cesar open and close the song, his face is always very emotive. Makes you feel the lyrics that hes singing.

Thanks for the reaction! I love your attention to the details of lighting and camera as well as to the vocals and emotional aspects. I didn’t like this song before hearing VP’s performance but they have fixed it for me, and it’s starting to become a favourite.

Nothing Else Matters and also Carry on Wayward Son both had similar stage setups.

This video when they all together is much like Wayward son. They always to me impart more emotion in the songs. They are masters at it.

I'm with you; wasn't a fan of Radiohead, and even for this song, my feelings about it were "meh." But Voiceplay made me LOVE it. And I've always had a soft spot for Cesar's emoting when he's singing. I've heard other reactors diss him for it (one in particular made some snide reference to him being "that annoying theatre kid" - DID NOT subscribe to HIS channel after that!) but I think Cesar has been the perfect addition to the group from the moment he's arrived - and I don't think it's a coincidence that Voiceplay have upped their game IMMENSELY since then.

Gar-jew'-lah. I know I loved Geoff's High and Dry which is Radiohead, this one however listens to each singer and how the set up of the creep knowing they aren't good enough, they'll never be and their cry is from their heart. Most of us (I think) grew up with those feelings inside at school and the haunting, heartrending feelings each of them express especially in the mirrors reflecting them to their selves, makes me cry. I really don't see how anyone could top this, and I truly don't think that any acapella group can touch them right now. Every time VP does the next one, you think "How could it possibly be better than what they've just done?" and they do it - just guessing that they are so special.

The first time I listened to this song by Radeohead I had a hard time understanding what they were saying, then i heard PTX (on the masked singer) do it and I kind of understood it (they did a great job) but it felt a little off, almost like it was missing something Then I heard Voiceplay and it took on a different life. All i wanted was to give them a hug and tell them they are perfect just the way they are Since I can't exactly do that my dogs have been getting extra attention and petting (they're loving it) Thank you for your reaction. They just NAILED this, absolutely stunning and oh, the emotional rollercoaster. I cried for a week when it came out on Patreon. I hadn't heard it before this, as soon as they started commenting on the song I stayed away from it, wanted to hear them first. Enjoyed the reaction, always like hearing your opinion!

I also noticed Eli's beard - I think it has a sharer cut, but am not certain. You are the first reactor that did not cry. Cesar studies vocal performance so his performance is always very moving.

Headphones! Woo Hooo! I'm so glad! Now you have to let us know if you like the difference! As to this song, it's not my favorite by Voice Play. They are good, but THAT'S not surprising. Haley Reinhart takes the prize for best cover of this song (my opinion). Cesar DOES shine here. My favorite part of this is the color change with the 'wall of sound' and key changes. When Ellie jumps 18 octaves, it gives me chills. Another thing, this is about the 5th time I've heard this. It's growing on me. Slowly but surely.

I have never heard the Radiohead version. I can't imagine that the F-bombs really added anything necessary to the song after hearing VP do it without the shock value lyrics. Perhaps for some people cursing is the only way they can convey emotions. VP shows what can be done brilliantly.

I didn't know the song or the artist, but just like always, Voiceplay sold me on it!

Awesome reaction Flash as always. Kudos to Eli for his arrangement to this. It's so freaking beautiful. Geoff did High and Dry by Radiohead. It's also very beautiful. He did it completely solo playing the keyboard (or whatever you call it). I recognize it cause I played one in my teens but forgot what it's called. We're talking 45 years ago 😂
