Well done Sir! Wife and I purchased a homestead here in Colorado @ Royal Gorge and Arkansas river..the rocks are AMAZING I have such a collection now in only 6 months CAN NOT wait to follow your lead in unlocking their true beauty! God Bless Sir 🙏🏽😎💯
Nice!! There’s a handful of people that do this but don’t hook it up to the vise. They either mount the grinder somehow, or use a big drill press. So this finally looks easy enough
I'm new to lapidary work and I had 3 pieces of petrified wood that I had no idea how to make them pretty, till I saw your video. I found the very same pads and they came out beautiful thanks to you!
I like the look of your shop. Mine has an old hayloft that I need to revamp and turn into something functional, I was looking at the way your loft is framed and supported, gave me some ideas. Thanks for the vid.
This is a low cost. you can find a used angle grinder on the cheep and the discs are not much $$ either. Just make sure the threads of the angle grinder matches the backing plate.
Can you use the grinder and a diamond wheel to cut the gemstones? I have a grinder and a diamond wheel but can't afford a lapidary saw and do you have any videos using the grinder and wheel to cut stones in half? Thanks@@1JawsJr
What is that black attachment called. I do a lot of polishing with a set up but I use a cordless drill. Takes forever with charging batteries...I want to use my grinder.
Cool video I was thinking about doing it that way . I did some by hand and took a long time and killed my hands . I wanted to get a grinder and do the same and I think I will great idea and works well awesome. Ok my friend cool stuff
@@1JawsJr thank so much for replying your awesome. I'm a newbie at this can you please tell me what kind and size of angle grinder to get for the size 4 pads. Thank you so much
My question, too. A single speed angle grinder looked at was running at 12,000 rpm but a similar polishing pad set said 2,200 rpms max. And the variable speed angle grinders are considerably more expensive. So Dremel and diamond paste for now. Also, might be good to recommend safety googles and respirator. No silicosis from dust, even when using water.
Where did you get the sanding pads? Seems like a great deal for them. By the way I very much enjoy your videos. Also my wife is camera shy as well haha.
@@1JawsJr thanks for the answer! I’ve bought a complete set of pads that look identical to yours. They’re 4” and range from 50 to 10,000 grit (7 pads), and the best part is the included backing pad attaches to my dual action car polisher which lets me adjust speed. Haven’t tried out the setup yet, but definitely looking forward to it! 😊
Would it be more financially valuable selecting finger sized pieces and shaping them into a geometric shape and making a necklace? You would have lots of rock material. Sales always depends on what the customer thinks. People just don’t appreciate the knowledge and work it takes. Everyone values money. Money is only permission to buy. It’s not value. Marketing psychology is what sells something. Perceived value is what will sell something. If the public is not smart enough to see the value of a new thing the stores discontinue it because it doesn’t bring in the money… Two identical products can have a very different price tag depending on where and when it is purchased. So, by bankers own rules the price of anything does NOT show its value… It only shows it’s price… For example the price of fuel in a given area and what type of geography you have to travel over to deliver it.
