I used to go there back in the early 1990s but now I live in Northern California. Glad to see this place is still so beautiful besides the graffiti. There are so many places like this to enjoy in NorCal. If you ever come up this way you should check out the North fork American River. If you think the east fork is a clear running river then the North fork American River will blow your mind.

( Party people, TWEAKERS ( which are in back country beyond "Bridge to Nowhere" ) Lots of TRASH and sloppy people. Trash cans are there but the ground is easier? Hi guys I’ve been loving your videos! We’re planning a trip to the US next year and undecided whether to go in April/May or September/October. Two things we want to do is explore the canyons and waterfalls you guys show in your videos and also catch an NBA game or two. What would you say the general water flow/level of the waterfalls and swimming holes is like around September/october? Would most places be running dry? And is April/May warm enough to swim around California? Keep the videos coming, by far my favourite showcasing the swimming spots 👍🏼
@hikebytes
@hikebytes Месяц назад
Wow thank you ! 😀😀 Well April and May sometimes can have some rain or gloom but more green hillsides and wildflower beauty . Water is colder.and more abundant . We did have a very rainy season hence the large amounts of water flow. Sept and Oct. are warm typically so water will be warmer but less in some areas . Punch Bowls and The Rock pools at Bridge to Nowhere East fork of the San Gabriel river should be flowing pretty good! Both have deep water sources.

@hikebytes Месяц назад
Thank you so much for watching! 😀😀you can always reach out with any questions !!
@jimmychampion69
@jimmychampion69 Месяц назад
@@hikebytes thanks for the reply! So it would be safe to say that September/October would be warmer and better temperatures for swimming, whereas April/May would be better for overall flowing water around California and Arizona? Would April and May still be warm enough to swim at some of the places you have on your channel? Sorry again for the many questions 😂
@hikebytes
@hikebytes Месяц назад
You could absolutely swim in Springtime but sometimes water flow could be too heavy to swim and would be more of a cold plunge . It's warmer water and calmer in Sept Oct. some smaller water falls may dry up or be a trickle . What swimholes did you want to visit?
@jimmychampion69
@jimmychampion69 27 дней назад
@@hikebytes okay so maybe sept/october will be better to be able to actually enjoy the swimming, especially seeing as a few places you guys have shown have all round water sources. so far our list has a heap of places from your channel, the Canyon Narrows, Stoddard Canyon falls, Punch Bowls, Seven falls, palm springs oasis hikes, green valley, Santa Ynez and Kern River etc. as well as hopefully a few in Arizona, Wet Beaver Creek, Indian Maiden falls, and around Sedona region.

It weaves a little more through the mountains, but it’s very beautiful. That was a bummer,road was closed.. Sorry to hear that. We like to use the Waze app navigation to make sure the route is open. This new vid covers the trash issue in popular areas, but shows people how to avoid crowds, to find less known spots. People watch, but not everyone goes. The river has miles of rock pools to explore, just pick a spot along the East Fork road and hike down (1/10 mile or less) and see if you like the spot, it’s that simple to find a less crowded area.

Hi there! We went on Wed . At 8:30 am We also did a video on other locations as well . If you go to our channel page our newest one is called "Talking Trash"which we are dealing with a serious trash issue here on the beautiful river, but we also show other locations as well . One of them The Oakes picinic area is the worst with the trash! We don't suggest that place even though it is very pretty. Hope you make it out there and have some fun😀😀

@hikebytes
@hikebytes 29 минут назад
Unfortunately we do not recommend this 8.5 mi hike for kids . Trail is overgrown in areas , there is continuous boulder hopping and top it off with an unleashed German shepherd that lives on the ranch where you have to pass through an easement would not be safe for kids. This dog jumped over the wall and jumped at Heidi growling and barking the only thing that kept her from getting bit was the owner from a distance called for the dog.

Yes you can get there from the road, we are not sure where . They pointed up the hill from where they were. So I guess they parked and walked down a path as there are several. Please be careful with brining elderly some of the paths coming down looked steep and rocky although we have seen some older people there. It just depends on their own abilities. They may have found an easier path.You may wish to scope out the area first before brining them . 😀😀👍👍have fun ! Hint : week days are the best time to go and early!
