@@oliviabartsch9345 Prior to the release of the movie, critics were given cassette tapes of the soundtrack. They where found and uploaded in 2015, you can find them here www.mediafire.com/file/78zj8bfsg0g5hvc/Rock_%2526_Rule_Soundtrack_FLAC.zip/file . there's some more info in this thread orangecow.org/board/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=303&start=150#p6435
the print is notbeing kept somewhere, it was in a storehouse , not a vault. & it burned in a massive catastrophe that erased hundreds of original works

Blondie and Cheap Trick WERE on the same bill at a concert years back. I tried to get anyone going there to get word to them to do Send Love Through live somehow. I was younger and silly :-)
Am I the only one who can see Freddie Mercury and Laura Brannigan covering this? Which begs this next question: WHY didn't Freddie and Laura cover this?!
Beautiful climax piece to a rather frightening and dazzling animated feature. A truly Lost gem. Shame the SDTK was destroyed, omitting any chance of a proper SDTK release.
Want a bit of bonus trivia? Neither Debra Harry nor Robin Zander were together in the studio when this was made. Each recorded their own section and it was spliced together at a different location. Pretty good result considering this was the days before digital recording. Oh, and thank you for the upload. The sound mix is a little off in places (which is understandable) but this really a lost gem. :)
+steampunker7 Essentially that's true. It's said in the making of featurette that's on the DVD (which I remember seeing on Nickelodeon's old Lights Camera Action show, which was hosted by Leonard Nimoy), that they basically passed the multi-track tape around and everyone overdubbed their bits at a different location. If I remember correctly, the track started out with a basic track done by the composer who did the film's music (I've forgotten her name, sorry) and then the Blondie people overdubbed their bits, then the Cheap Trick guys overdubbed their bits, etc. The amazing thing is the ending where it sounds like Robin and Debbie are sort of trading off off the cuff vocals. I'm not sure how they did that, unless they both improvised, and they just swapped back and forth between the two in the mix.
Well, it wasn't spliced together. What happened was, the composer of the film's score, I can't remember her name at the moment, recording a basic track, which passed around and the members of Cheap Trick and Blondie did their overdubs on top onto that. But it is true Debbie and Robin were NOT in the same studio when recording this. I've always wondered how they do the thing at the end where they're trading off, unless both of them just kept adlibbing, and then whichever produced it was who mixed it, just hit the mute buttons on their respective channel at strategic times, to make it sound like they were trading off.
Ah, ah, ah (Echo) Oh what will the signal be for your eyes to see me? So I still will set the stage. Send my thoughts to you. We're receiving every wave. This song sends love through! Now as one, we're gonna show it's our one desire. From this day we'll always know how our love grows higher. Now as one, we'll set the stage. Focus love on you. Now we're sending every wave. This song sends love through. Now for all, you'll ever know that you'd never see me. And someday you're gonna show what your one desire means. So I now will set the stage. Send my thoughts to you. I'm receiving every wave. This song sends love through. Send love through. In the out, up the down. Send love through. Simple things become confused. Under pressure, boiling steam, on the edge, you'll bust your dreams. Send love through. Give it all, it's up to you. Send love through. I'm just true to you. I want to send my love to you! Are you sure you're in the mood? (Mmm-hmm!) Ahhh, ahhh, ahhh, ahhh! Send my love to you. Ahhh, ahhh, ahhh, ahhh! Send love through. Music is so much to you. Guys, are you sure you're in the mood? Send love through. You gotta come through. Me and you. Me and you! Our love is goin' through. My love to you. Send love through. Me and you! Ahhhh-yeah!
Its good to hear that I am not the only one who has such a strong connection with this song. My wife has no idea why it resonates with me so much - especially because I listen mostly to death metal these days (which she doesn't understand either :)). The movie and song have been such an important part of my life and its hard to explain why that is. I guess some things just click and stick with you as you grow up.
I actually like this. IT doesn't have the talking parts which it's good. I'd rather have it that way. I'd be happy though if they gave us the actual track.
Sadly no, the fire burning the music happened nearly a decade later, the reason because it wasn't released is because the film bombed so hard Nelvana nearly went bankrupt, so they didn't see a reason why putting another few million dollars for the soundtrack to be released because they thought that it wouldn't matter since no one outside of test screenings and a Canadian tv airing saw it, and plus they couldn't afford it either way. But later when the film did have a sizable audience from HBO showings and bootleg VHS, Nelvana did think about releasing it but it was damaged in the warehouse fire making the songs incomplete and useless on s soundtrack. This film in general has a bad luck of having a public viewing and a audience it deserves and this just goes to show.
@@kentuckyfriedbuster3876 yo I'm from Canada and my cousin worked on this, I never got to see it. Until the internet. Cousin worked on this and Heavy metal (that was dic i think) but the point is, he showed me "cutting room floor" film strips. That he could magnify with the weird glass table he made with a light inside. It was the cannon guy commercial and other random scenes. Also had cuts of the airplane shoot out in Heavy Metal. Mind you when i mean he had film strips but not enough to make them move. Like a toy picture viewer with less details. R.I.P
Several years ago I bought this on DVD, got both the US version and I think the other was call the Canada version or alternate version. Just watched the US version and than had to see if this and Angels Song are out here. Thanks for posting. Wish Debbie Harry would of made a duet of this song.
Yeah, the "Canadian version" was the original film, as was delivered to MGM, who insisted having Paul Le Mat redo Omar's speaking voice, supposedly because they needed "somebody famous" in the cast, which I always was weird, because I don't remember Paul Le Mat having the kind of "star power" where you could say "he'll butts in the seats" or whatever. And there's a few changes to the dialog in the US version, e.g. the scene where the band first goes to Mok's mansion, and Omar calls one of the Schlepper brothers "dick nose" is changed to "dog breath".
yeah i remember reading somewhere in animation magazines that someone from Nelvana mentioned there was a studio fire in which the soundtrack tapes may got lost
Achieved by turning down the spoken dialogue, you did a good job with this as you could barely tell there's any voices. Only time I caught something was very faintly Mok's "No...no...NO! They...can't....STOP YOUUUUUUUUU..." Cause I am so used to hearing it I know just when he'd say it :-)
Oh my God, I've been searching for this song for two years now. And considering that this has almost all the sound removed from the movie, I am very happy.
WOW!!! This is great, I haven't been able to find the complete audio track that wasn't hacked to pieces by someone trying to edit out the dialogue. This movie has one of the greatest soundtracks ever done that was never released as a soundtrack album.
Dear Santa, I want some of all the singing/music youtubers we have to make a cover of this without all the monster sounds and screams. Shouldn't be too hard, I feel....
@@stars7710 Same, I don't care if they can't sing as well/voices don't sound the same because they're older I just want an actually clean version of this song.
