Guess it's time to be the lyrics-person: Now for all you'll ever know that you've never seen me And someday you're gonna show what your one desire means Now I only set the stage focus lights on me I make sure the power's on on the scenery Oh, what will the signal be for your eyes to see me? Watching offside as I wait just in case you need me So I still will set the stage, send my thoughts to you I'm receiving every wave that sent love, sent love through You know, love's not what you think Too weak to stand on like quick sand in which you sink Love is anything you make it How can I let you feel my love Feel me and still feel free I mean I have the answers now So what? To be in time is on the beat Oh, what will the signal be for your eyes to see me? Watching offside as I wait just in case you need me So I still will set the stage, send my thoughts to you I'm receiving every wave that sent love, sent love through Now I have revealed exactly why I'm here I'll be your angel if you wanna see how perfect sharing love with an angel can be Alright
I'm literally pissed that this song doesn't get airplay. This is the sound of that classic late 70s rock era. This paired with the finale- it's literally a rock opera. The whole movie is a freaking opera.
The part where she speaks into the microphone in the movie "now I've revealed my true purpose..." with Mok's staring eyes lit up in the back of the room gives me chills... such an epic moment. The music really fits the mood at that point
it came out 2 years after heavy metal. so it wasnt ahead. it was behind. infact they were given the offer to make heavy metal and turned it down to make rock and rule.
A lot of the voices/actors were involved in Heavy Metal also, look up the cast and see what they’ve done. They were a group involved in projects ahead of their time.
@@neolibertarian5492 Sigh. Username checks out. 🙄 There's nothing "non-woke" about this film, if anything it's pretty woke already. You have a female lead who takes things into her own hands and is quite capable on her own, Cindy, a masculine woman who is hands down one of the best characters, and an overweight character Dizzy who is a great guy and even takes charge to intervene in the final concert. I mean...am I wrong, here?
@@WobblesandBean kind of. These type of character tropes were pretty common in the 80s/90s. Nothing wrong with a gal taking the lead but with what Hollywood has been throwing out (mostly) is pandering to the lowest common denominator
@@Chrisfragger1 No, but in this context it sure does. Only willfully ignorant or the blind can't see how obvious it is. By the way... You forgot to call me a 'conspiracy theorist wing nut' .. your argument is so insightful. 😂
remember that these guys recording the songs, with the exception of Cheap Trick, were 70's punk rock. CB GB era mega icons. Those keyboards were an important part of Blondie and early punk, so yea, they SHOULD sound like a garage band. The talking part and the slow guitar plucking were influenced by 50's era rock n roll, so they fit the theme of the movie perfectly. I love this movie very much. The musicians singing are top notch. Love and respect to everyone listed on the credits.
Debbie Harry was so versatile and had an "Angel's" voice. She also was the first artist to make billboard's top 💯 with a song with rap in it, Rapture. Debbie Harry was a pioneer in the New York proto-rap scene (Grandmaster Flash, et al.). Then we have this incredible expose of raw talent, passion, and perfection from Blondie/Debbie Harry in Rock n Rule. She is so underrated.
Rock and Rule, also known as the Heavy Metal Goofy Movie, is a tale about a punk rock band called Angel and the Three Other Dudes, with guitarist and lead singer Zack (Ferngully), Bassist Bobby Zimmeruski and Drummer P.J. Pete (Goofy Movie), and Keytarist and vocalist Angel. Together the four friends must rock and roll their way through the post-apocalyptic world of Mad Max meets The Secret of NIMH and defeat the evil music magician Thrax (Osmosis Jones) before he can release an awful evil Tentacle Demon and then... profit? With songs by Blondie, Iggy Pop, Cheap Trick, and several others, Rock and Rule's titular song, simply known as Angel's Song is the only song that really matters and is also by coincidence the song that sends the tentacle monster back to space hell along with Thrax the music sorcerer. With incessant drug use throughout and scenes that can only make sense to people who are absolutely tripping balls, Rock and Rule delivered upon its release a solid 8 million dollars worth of fluid animation and iconic sound to empty movie theaters the world over. Finally released to home video 30 years after, the children of the audiance it was originally intended for finally got to enjoy this diamond in the rough. -Sam Geiger (Ogdenville Daily Herald)
I am thrilled Just saying... this will be played at my wedding... This song is so much a crucial part of my life. This movie has been with me for as long as I can remember. Finding this song on here with a track number lead me to finding the soundtrack and I can listen when ever I want too now
This is the only song in this movie that really stood out. I definitely enjoyed this movie even with it's flaws. However, the parts like at 3:12 were amazing. Really gave me goosebumps first hearing it. It really was ahead of it's time.
Just saw this picture for the first time on 35mm this evening. Pretty much had never heard of it before, as it slipped by many people back in it's day. BOY! Was I blown away?! The film is compelling, frightening, and gorgeous! And the music...whoa!!! Hypnotic best describes it. No other like it, and never will be.
This song had morphed into "Maybe For Sure" on Deborah Harry's 1989 album, "Def, Dumb and Blonde," which was a chart single in the UK...Although the great infectious melody is the same, the original is so much more compelling, being heard here in the 1983 animated film, "Rock 'N Rule," which was surprisingly not released with an accompanying soundtrack album considering the mega music talent in the movie...One of her absolute best songs, written by herself and Chris Stein, coming after Blondie's official split, it would have made a great solo track for her...
It's ok to like a furry chick it's 2020! i mean it's ok to like Angel, Minerva Mink, Julie Bruin on Tiny Toons, Rebecca Cunningham, Callie Briggs, Cheetah on Justice League, Lola Bunny, etc. as they are people who are different and so are aliens, mutants, robots and magical creature folk. And Hatton Slayden does some amazing artworks
that wheezy key board is intentional lol and personally i luv it cuz i know exactly what time in history this wuz recorded...... fuckin classic i saw this when i was 5 and i luv it even more now im grown up
There is no Soundtrack album for Rock & Rule, this is a restoration using bits and pieces from the movie, promotional material and dusty old recordings

I kept humming the uhh uh uh uhhhh at the end of the song and I was like “isn’t that a cartoon ft Debbie Harry?” Here I am. With this video on loop mode
Oh man when i was 4 back in 86 when my parents taped me this movie, i dug Angel when i was a kid and a teen! she's one good looking mouse mutant woman. No wonder there are furry lovers considering how they got away with these ladies. I mean you had her, Cleo on Heathcliff, M'ress on Star Trek TAS, Minerva Mink on Animaniacs, Lola Bunny in Space Jam, Rebecca Cunningham and some of the other furry women on Talespin, Julie Bruin/Bimbette Skunk/Margot Mallard on Tiny Toon Adventures, mutated Selina Kyle in the Tyger Tyger episode of Batman TAS (remember that episode where Catwoman became an actual cat-woman? Selina is lovely no matter how she looks), Felicia from Darkstalkers game/anime, Mona Lisa the lizard woman from Ninja Turtles, Kit Mambo and some of the ladies in Animalympics, Gadget Hackwrench, Miss Kitty Mouse the dancer from Great Mouse Detective, Goldie Pheasant from Rock a Doodle, Peg on Goof Troop, Katrina in He-Man, Sally Acorn/Bunnie Rabbot/Lupe on Sonic The Hedgehog (the SatAM version), Colleen on Road Rovers, that 3 breasted alien cat-woman from Star Trek V, Lisa Raccoon in The Raccoons, Roxanne/Lisa the blonde from Goofy Movie, Callie Briggs and the Swat Kats ladies, Pam and Polly from that eek the Cat rock musical episode as they were those 2 rock witch cat women sisters, Aishia Clan Clan on Outlaw Star, and Cheetara/Pumarya on Thundercats.
@@geigertec5921 I mean... She's close enough to human looking... It's not that big a deal. But hey, thanks for reminding me of this song I haven't heard in years.
This song is so iconic...and also (in my humble opinion) a flawed masterpiece that never quite reaches what it's so close to hitting...more guitar? More of the chorus? Thicker production? Dunno but love it all the same..."Maybe Just For Sure" from a few years after was a little cleaner but still not quite there, although that's just my opinion again of course: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iElnR9Pz_Ig.html
