Here are three reasons why Diana (the Queen of Goosebumps) doesn't sound human. First, she is a contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. She's been called the vocal Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below) When you add all that up you basically get a person who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune. And the effect when you hear her is totally mind-blowing. It's like she's singing right through you, like a sword straight into your soul. Literally NOBODY else on the planet has a voice like hers. She's not one in a million, she's one in seven billion. Everyone sings, but one of the judges is special. The one who most vividly appreciated Diana's voice. The one who was standing listening to the song. He is an opera singer who is considered one of the best voices in the world. His name is Yusuf Eyvazov. He is a dramatic tenor, the husband of the great opera star of our time, Anna Netrebko. Хладнокровный комментатор. Не стану его ни хвалить, ни укорять: кое-что интересное он сказал; всё-таки - профессионал (диапазон в три октавы; отличный контроль вокала и прочее). Но подобные видеоролики с шоу не стоит анализировать, как запись с конкурса Чайковского, где певцы выступают без микрофона на фоне одного и того же портрета великого композитора. Подобное представление предполагает, в первую очередь, эмоциональную реакцию и эстетическое восприятие. Если вас не впечатляет ни ни мощнейшая энергетика, ни эмоциональность, ни удивительные визуальные образы - значит, все творцы этого шоу работали впустую. Однако сотни тысяч любителей музыки во всём мире думают совсем иначе. А что касается продюсерской работы со звуком: разумеется, она была - как и на всех подобных шоу; какой смысл это обсуждать: был ли бэк-вокал, или это некий двоящийся голос. Обсуждать нужно такой вопрос: а было ли с чем работать продюсерам? Можно ли было выпустить другого очень хорошего артиста, чтобы он исполнил эту композицию - с тем же ошеломляющим эффектом: причём не только звуковым, но и эмоциональным, и артистическим? Ответ не потребует долгих размышлений: нет другого такого артиста. Для того, чтобы достичь именно такого мощного, многостороннего, долгоиграющего эффекта - нужен был только этот артист: Диана Анкудинова. У меня нет ни малейших сомнений, что продюсеры этого шоу ожидаемый эффект просчитывали, опираясь, хотя бы, на невероятную популярность видеороликов с "Реченькой", и особенно, с "Derniere danse". И как мы видим, они не ошиблись. Окончательные итоги подводить рано; прошло всего 14 месяцев; но непохоже, что песня "Can't Help Falling in Love"в исполнении Дианы Анкудиновой хоть сколько-нибудь потускнела и ослабила своё не до конца понятное воздействие на многих, очень многих слушателей. А то, что этот феноменальный голос не на всех так действует, лишь подтверждает для меня очевидное: он слишком необычный, слишком неожиданный, слишком не похожий на другие голоса. Его нужно не только расслышать, но и почувствовать; и если это произойдёт - то он вас вознаградит, как никакой другой голос... (предыдущая его реакция - на Димаша набрала 17 тысяч просмотров за 14 дней; думаю, эта реакция наберёт не меньше 20 тысяч - будет ли он удивлён?)

😆😆😆😆 If you listen to her sing at her concerts, she is singing with polyphonics; she sounds exactly the same. Diana is a mystery to most, which is why people are attracted to her voice. There is post-production that is disappointing but there is nothing fake or added with Diana. She is her own auto-tune! The space she has anatomically let's her resonators create a distinct sound, it is not something that can be imitated (voice coaches have tried). You will understand and get it as you listen to her more 🙂 I have not read any comments yet...just ignore the really defensive people because people really like Diana and sometimes they tend to not understand, it is difficult to know what Diana is doing because they have not heard this kind of voice before. Greetings from Scotland! I'm not going to dispute your observations but I will give you a little background on this phenomenal singer's life - so far! Diana is 19yo currently but I've been following her since she was around 13yo. Diana is a natural Dramatic Contralto so the lower registers are her comfort zone but she now has around a 4 octave range and it's increasing. She also naturally sings with polyphonic overtones so it sounds like many voices at the same time! HOW you ask? Please continue reading............ Diana's birthmother had multiple miscarriages but when Diana came along, she seemed to hate her. She verbally and physically abused her, trying to drown her, strangle and belittle her. It all culminated when (at 3yo) she dragged her to a bus stop with a broken collarbone and abandoned her, saying "Survive if you can" A passing relative took her in but because she cried constantly (naturally with a broken collarbone) she took her to the authorities who removed Diana from her birthmothers care and placed her in an orphanage. For almost 2 years Diana never gave up hope and she knew that she was meant for something better. (This story is in her Wikipedia entry) Finally her new mother (Irina Ponik, who worked as a masseuse there occasionally) Signed her adoption papers and took her home. She vowed to pay Irina back for her kindness. Irina had a real struggle because Diana had obviously been badly affected by the experiences and at 5yo, she had a very bad stammer. It was recommended that she be taken for singing lessons to help this and immediately it was recognised that Diana had perfect pitch and an excellent ear for music and songs. 1 year later, at 6yo, Diana was performing solo on stage! She is a rapid learner! This young unique phenomenon sang everywhere and anywhere she could, working constantly to earn money for the family who rescued her. Diana Ankudinova is considered like Dimash's little sister. Both are brilliant and talented artists. Started their passion for music when they were very younger. I love her. Her unique and particular voice really captivated me. She Is a brave survivor from abuse suffered when She was just a child. Music become her shelter and helped her explore her skills with her voice. Obviously live is her performance of "Horses", just her with microphone and speaker singing to a backing tracknon a tiny stage. Best way to hear her pure voice, just with a little bit of reverb. Also phenomenal: Rechenka, where she is showing many more vocal tricks that became a trademark of hers.

Smart instructive comments. Yeah, the sound engineers added some doubling? voice effects. It adds to the production impact, but she's very talented and sounds amazing without effects.

No effects in post production- that is really her. Keep in mind she is a contralto, so at the lowest end of the female voice, but with phenomenal range: D flat 3 to B flat 5. You should watch a few other clips- for her polyphonics and multiphonics, yodeling skills, ability to belt, and so on. An amazing singer. Songs to check her out: Rechenka, Wicked Game, Human, Jodel Time (when she was 13!).

This much is nothing wait to hear her start hitting the yodels and the really crazy sounds😄 She can go lower and higher, you meant to say C3 at the lowest not C2, that is the range she covered in this song is indeed C3 to Bb5, but she has gone down to F2 before, her range is definitely 4 octaves from what i heard of her personally but her vocal coach has said that her range is four and a half octaves (i do not know the actual notes she never mentioned them) and it is growing since she still is only 19 (she was 18 when she sang can't help falling in love.).

Thanks for the reaction! There is no second voice on the recording, as it was a live sound show. The judges of the show who stood up at the end are professional singers, the one who stood up during the song is a famous opera singer. He has a really polyphonic voice, a rare dramatic contralto.

Hi, Gray! Thank you very much for your reaction! Diana's fans can be really over-defensive at times :) I don't think she needs any kind of agressive defence. She is something outstanding as it is. She often makes covers her own way, this is her artistic choice. The song really sounds unusual in a minor key - a bit sombre, dramatic and more solemn. Sounds great in my opinion. I also enjoy her covers of Human, Wicked Game and Dernier Dance (the last one is in French). Thanks again!

Hi and thx for your reaction ! People love to say Diana has no backing vocals behind and it's only polyphony. Which is (most of the time) true. But not during this contest. She has 2 pple, a man and a woman, to help her (contrary to the "You Are Super !" contest). I don't make up a story : she openly said it in an interview. On the other hand, her new vocal coach at this time trained her in her upper range, which she was not used to. In my mind, that’s maybe why she has the woman voice backing with her when she slides up, like a springboard you know, and she’s on her own after that, when she's already hit her upper range. 🤗

Диана точно так же споёт a capella, чему мы не раз были свидетелями... Она - неповторима, ее голос объемный и многогранный.

yes, in that one short segment that you listened to, there was a voice in the chorus (the only part of the song where there were non-obvious backup voices...the next section the chorus is singing something totally different). She does bring in amazing harmonics, have seen computer analytics of her voice that show the harmonics, it is more obvious in the last section of the song, and she does not lean on that "talent" very much in this performance....it is more obvious in other songs/performances.

Try ‘Wicked Game’ (15yo) or ‘Rechenka’ (14yo) for the polyphonic tones, and amazing performances! Try ‘Take on me’ (16yo) or ‘What a wonderful world’ (18yo) for an acoustic setting.

One of the best examples of her vocal capabilities is Rechenka, from a few years ago. (I think there's also a more recent performance, but I'm not familiar with it) She's very young, but it's a creative and engaging performance.

I think it is better to say she has multiple resonances when she is not singing falsetto. Those resonances are based on her unique anatomy and sound almost as if she has a second voice. However, when she speaks she does not have that effect. I think when she drops her huge larynx she is able to create such unusual set of sounds mixed.

Reminds me of Elsianne, she is singing in almost exactly same way (her first album appeared in 2007). So Elsianne must have been inspiration for her.
