Hi Dear, thanks for the reaction...Here the Information we have about the song: The instrument is "Kobyz" (Kazakh: қобыз, Qobyz) or kyl-kobyz is an ancient Kazakh string instrument. It has two strings made of horsehair. The resonating cavity is usually covered with goat leather. According to legends, the kobyz and its music could banish evil spirits, sicknesses and death and imitate animal voices and bells of cattle herds of Kazakhstan steppe. Here producing animals sounds like a wolf along with sounds of flowing water, wind, bells from cattle herds from the great Steppes of Kazakhstan. The song Samaltau, arranged by Yerlan Bekchurin. The story ofthe song: 1916 ... World War I was underway. The Russian Tsar issues a decree on the draft of the Kazakh army aged between 19 and 39 years. Samal Tau is the song of those recruits. The area from which the recruits came was called Samal Tau. This is in the region of northern Kazakhstan. The author's name is not kept in the people's memory. The song has the following words: "We are tired, very tired for 15 days, we have almost reached Omsk. Samal Tau was left behind, where I was born and raised. The life of an unknown soldier is ahead. The elderly parents remained at home. How will they live without me? " The song also contains information on the author's age. It is little more than two mushrooms. *He was born in the year of the cow. This means that he was born in 1888 and is 28 years old. Words of the song: Samal Tau, my native land, the immense sea What days await me in the soldiers Remember again and again Birthplace where he was born and raised I'm not driving, I'm walking Even slower than walking For fifteen days of trekking Approaches Omsk I am at the age of two cycles, year of the cow By the will of destiny, he went to a distant land Samal Tau, native lands left behind We are like a school of horses, torn from our native lands My mother and my father They are old years advanced ... This song has been folded 16th bad luck Samal Tau, my native land, the immense sea What days await me as a soldier?.

Anjocaine, This unique song commemorates the tragic loss of Kazakh lives as young men were conscripted into the Russian army during 1916.. A letter written by one of the conscripts was found, later, in the mud of the road along which they were marched, away from their home in the SamalTau (windy mtn.) region of Kazakhstan. Dimash, here, mourns for and grieves the loss of several million of his countrymen, who he is determined shall not be forgotten. It's sung in the Kazakh language. By the way, "Celtic" is always pronounced with the hard C, like K
One of the things I admire the most is its versatility. Beyond the voice and its unsurpassed interpretation His passages always give me goosebumps! Thank you so much for such a professional analysis. I love it.
I BELIEVE THAT THE LANGUAGE DIMASH IS SINGING THIS BEAUTIFUL SONG, IS IN HIS OWN LANGUAGE FROM HIS COUNTRY KAZAKHSTAN, THE KAZAKH LANGUAGE. I LOVE THE SONG WHICH HAS AN AMAZING STORY. CHECK IT OUT. LOVE DIMASH!!
I do not understand how an artist can comment on another artist who knows nothing. I saw a reaction of his from the last song Dimash sang in his ARNAU conference and this man didn't even know that he sang 3 hours, that he performed his most famous songs and that his performance was fabulous. I think he has a long way to learn this Mr. Chris from an artist like Dimash.
Samaltau, my amazing country, my endless lake, What days await me as a soldier, You keep coming into my mind from time to time, My amazing homeland, where I was born and raised I wasn't riding, I was walking, Even slower than walking, Been strolling for 15 days In the direction of Omsk I'm at the age of two cycles, the year of the cow By the will of Fate, I went farther away Samaltau, my amazing country, you're left behind From the hollow field, we are the only ones I had parents, Of progressed age, Since this song was written, It's been 16 years. Samaltau, my amazing country, my endless lake, What days await me as a soldier
It is Kazakh song Chris. A very old native song about love. It says that material things or money is nothing without real Love. I love the musical instruments.
Thanks for your reaction and commentaries, Chris. I always enjoy what you have to say. I believe this is a Kazakh folk song. I found this description and translation on another video of the song (tried to confirm it in a Google search, but not conclusive): This song is written in 1916 - first world war. All young men in Kazakhstan were drafted by the order of Zar to help out the army. Song was written by one of those men. Samaltu Lyrics: Mountain breeze (name of region of Kazakhstan) Mountain breeze, my amazing country, my endless lake, What days await me as a soldier, You keep coming into my mind from time to time, My amazing homeland, where I was born and raised I wasn't riding, I was walking, Even slower than walking, Been strolling for 15 days In the direction of Omsk (city in Russia) I'm at the age of two cycles, the year of the cow (28 years old) By the will of Fate, I went farther away Mountain breeze, my amazing country, you're left behind From the hollow field, we are the only ones I had parents, Of progressed age, what will they do without me? Since this song was written, It's been 16 years. Mountain breeze, my amazing country, my endless lake, What days await me as a soldier
This song is about Kazakh man forced to go to war . They dud not know were they going to come back to their families. I am not sure what war was it. The thing is they did not want to go. Sad song.
This song commemorates the 1916 kazakh revolt against the Russian tzar's edict requiring non-Russian men (from provinces annexed /colonised by the Russian empire) to join the Russian army to fight in world war 1.
Chris, thank you for your reaction to Dimash. He is amazing and we are proud of him! Please, note that he is qazaq and majority of his songs are in qazaq. He is always saying that he will promote qazaq culture.
Kazakh language. Check out his last opera live performances. Moskau, Igor Krutoy, lara Fabian and a famous opera star from Russia (female) it is stunning !!!
Hello Cris. The song is in Kazajo. Samale mountain is a song in memory of the martyrs and the proud Kazakh people who fought against the Soviet terror regime. Samaltau it means moutain of wind. This a tresure song of kazakhstan and Dimash sing this like no one. Dimash voice is so emotional. Greetings from a Mexican Dear! ❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️🇲🇽🇰🇿🇲🇽🇰🇿🇲🇽🇰🇿 The musical instrument named Kobyz.
"Let me introduce you to the instrument from recent Dimash's performance "Samal tau". You have noticed "two-stringed instrument", that is Kazakh national instrument called Kobyz (or Qobyz; in original: Қобыз). Along with Dombyra, Kobyz is one of the most common musical instruments of Kazakhs. Kobyz is a bowed string instrument, make of a single piece of wood. This is one of the oldest ways of making musical instruments in the history of humans, and it is explained not by technical backwardness or lack of metal devices. According to the ancient beliefs of many peoples, only a whole piece will preserve the living singing soul of the tree, which will sound in the instrument. The open case, just like the Kobyz strings from a bundle of 30-60 untwisted horsehair, gives a very thick, rich overtone tone. Kobyz mainly used in religious and magical rituals, as well as folk songs. Kobyz served as a means of communication with the spirits. Imitation of nature sounds is characteristic to Kobyz kuys, e.g. howling of wolves, cry of swans, running horse, the sound of a released arrow (you have experienced that sounds in "Samal tau"). Kobyz is believed to be the most ancient of all bowed string instruments in the world." I'm Hungarian and we and Kazakhs have common ancestors and the Kobyz (in Hungarian is Koboz) used too in Hungarian ancient music too.
Well, I know so that the Kazakh and Hungarian people have common ancestors. We call ourselves "Magyar" and in North Kazakhstan even nowadays live the klan ( tribe?) which called Madjar. So in this way we are distant relatives. :) Hungarian were equestrian nomadic nation too before they moved into the Karpathian pool. The Golden Warrior exhibition ( called "People in Gold") was in Hungary few years before, similar ( not that rich) archeological things were found from a Hungarian kurgan too. Our horseback archery was world-famous before 1000 years. And the world champion in this sport recently a Hungarian man, Lajos Kassai. The tulip and rose and apple are the common plant with you. And tulip is a frequent decoration motive in our ethnic art. Kutultáj is held annually in Hungary - which is the gathering of people with Turkish roots. This was the basis for the KZ Nomad Festival. We hunted with falcons in the past, you with eagles. So there are so many common things ( and old customs) In this video, they say: "In the heart of the great steppes the descendants of the ancient nomads gather for the international festival, the glorious Huns, the invincible Hungarians, feel the spirit of the great steppes." I heard the word: "Madjar" (we are descendants of Huns, Scythians, Saka too) facebook.com/qazaqtourism/videos/503240833552507/ "The concept of the Festival is based on the model of the Great Kurultáj of the Turkic peoples, which is held in Hungary (Magyarország) annually." (citation is from the organizers from their facebook post of the event below)facebook.com/events/327010791300964/ This year I don't saw Hungarian names in the article, but last year Hungarians with Andras Biro participated in this festival and they showed som Hun warrior-art.
Hi Chris, Fantastico fantastico👍👏love the traditional songs Dimash singing in his own language Kazachs. It felt familiair for me too because of my back ground. The music melodies are known to Turkish/Kurdish/Arabic people. The emotion you can hear and feel it when Dimash sings. Just amazing👌love also the traditional music instruments👍👏
Hi, Dimash sings about a soldier who leaves his native place for military service, he says goodbye to his native place, because he does not know what awaits him
Chris thanks for your reactions!!! KOBYZ is a folk two-stringed instrument bow. At the beginning of the song, the musician imitates the sounds of the night steppe: howling wolves, barking dogs, the cry of a crane. Song of Samaltau Dimash performs in their native language - Kazakh. ♥️🎶🎶🇷🇺
Hello from Spain. I see all your video reactions and I love them. I would you to react to two Dimash's songs: Screaming and Idol' s heats. There's a little surprise for you at the end. I hope you like it. Thank you very much

Hey, seriously I love your reactions so much everytime, I liked your reference to the Prince of Egypt, I always loved the songs of this movie, and the movie too x) Samaltau is such a beautiful song, it's a kazakh folk song, if I'm not mistaken it was during World War 1, the song is written by a soldier forced to quit his family, and his country for fighting for another country. The lyrics are beautiful (there is some videos with the eng sub, if you want to check it once) Dimash is amazing in this gender of music, to me his voice just sound so beautiful, and as you said combine with the kazakh traditional instruments, it make us travel to new places... Also, Dimash did another performance in China, recently, for the TV show The Masked Singer, "Our Love" a very beautiful song and an amazing performance (once again) Thank's for the video, and by the way I checked some of your songs, Abigail and Little Light, just love it. I'm more about rock usually (except Dimash x)) and really, you have a very beautiful voice, and I love the power of your songs ! I will check the other songs you have ! :)
hi! thank you! it is in the Kazakh language, Dimash's mother tongue about the sad history of his nation. and it is not a movie soundtrack but a new version of the Kazakh national song. the arrangement is done by the marvellous Erlan, the master of arrangement of songs by Dimash.
