Just purchased a Gen 3 pair for my 2020 Gladiator. I was a little apprehensive to do the install myself, but with a quote of $750 from my local 4WP store, I may give it a shot. Great video and explanation. Just got yourself a new subscriber!
@@northridgenation Was surprised when I unpacked my steps, that the Gen 3 JT version do not have a command module and the wiring is now recommended underneath the vehicle starting on the Passenger side. They provided decent instructions and a video so I am going to give it a shot!!
I purchased a set of Gen 2 step sliders that the factory had updated to Gen 3, but the instructions didn’t match the wiring harness I got. Your video was super helpful showing how to route and install the wiring harness I received. Thanks so much.
Man wish you guys had this video up back in July when I bought them from you. Had to look at extreme terrain crappy install video, they screwed up the bump foam strap install they put it on backwards on their video ended up screwing up one of my straps when i had to take it off. Glad you guys did a better job then those idiots. I've spent like 4,500 on orders from you guys. best customer service hands down
Mine just arrived from you! Now we get to see how it works on a 4XE. Not sure about the the control box as I have a big assed battery instead under the rear seat. 😁 Pulled my smittybilt Rock sliders off today before the rain (AZ).
Unfortunately, when I purchased mine(gen 2), no one told me they needed monthly maintenance. Now mine have stopped working due to my neglect. You need to be sure to lubricate them regularly. I’m going to have to completely disassemble them and order a new motor for the drivers side. I have a love hate relationship due to this issue. I really need them so I put up with it.
Yes, they automatically come on when the steps drop down. We're doing an RSE highlight video in the next coupe weeks, will show the lights in that video.
Do not remove the frame bolts all the way! The tack weld for the nuts break off easy. If those nuts come loose good luck starting the bolts! Just file the threads like the directions say!
@@northridgenation I found that I took my time on a 2022 JLU and three of the six nuts came loose. Even going slow and doubling back often. The tack welds just aren’t strong enough to handle that much torque repeatedly. I’m just saying it isn’t worth the risk to remove them because it is almost impossible to reinstall the bolts if the welds fail.
Installed them on my JT Rubicon in South Florida, no snow or rocks… the passenger side is already failing by not retracting all the way up, called the company and was told that I have to buy a new actuator possibly. I wouldn’t buy the again.
@@bucknbison2297 did you call Rock Slide Engineering or the company you bought them from. , talk to the office manager at RSE directly. I am sure they will replace the defective part. They offer superb customer service. FYI if the step is hanging low on only one side (front or rear) that is a rod adjustment issue. RSE tech support can walk you through the fix.
Just installed there and seeing all the complaints I’m almost regretting it. I’m West coast where it’s always warm. I dread the day they fail. They’re a big install for some steps.
The on/off switch doesn't allow you to operate the steps, only to turn the system on/off. If you activate the switch when the steps are up, they stay up. If you activate it when the steps are down, the steps stay down. The door delete kit allows you to lower or raise the steps at the push of a button.
Did you get them from us? First step is to reset them. Pull the fuse up near the battery. Check to make sure it is good and then reinstall it (replace it if blown). Did the steps go down and go back up? Everything good? Then it just needed a rest. Still not working? Pull the motor plug at the step and check for corrosion. If it's nasty, clean up all the corrosion, add in some dielectric grease, plug it back in and retest. If everything looks good, then it might be a deeper problem. Contact your oarts supplier to find out what to do next.
Has anybody with these put them through their paces as rock sliders without damaging the body? I love the power step for the family, I'm hoping it protects the body well too
Yes, we've beat on them pretty heavily and have not been able to damage them other than scratch the paint. Check them out in action here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tri4dR0pgpI.html
welp its already too late for me but after about 6 months of having my Vks fab sliders welded on i kinda wished i went with these "sliders" for the super convenient feature of it serving as a step and a slider But can these really hold up to some hardcore/harsh abuse while offroad? Cause these really dont look like they could hold up to being slammed on to a rock if the jeeps falls a good amount,or it being lifted with my hi-lift jack wich i have used and i got complete confidence while using it on my sliders to lift my jeep
Yes, they are designed to take a beating. Rock Slide Engineering even offers an optional skid plate that adds another layer of protection to these. www.northridge4x4.com/part/skid-plates/ax-ss-sp-jl4-rock-slide-engineering-step-slider-skid-plate
Yes, you can mount the magnets to the tube doors or you could get their add-on door delete kit: www.northridge4x4.com/part/rockers-sliders/sl-dd-100-rock-slide-engineering-step-slider-door-delete-kit
Yes and No. They both mount up to the pinch seam and the body mounts, but the mount placement is different between JL and JT. You can see our JT install video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--wurZkScimc.html
@19:10 We drilled out the factory floor plugs and routed the wires down through the plug and then used Gorilla tape over the top to anchor the wire and seal the plug.
For that Wrangler, we installed the TeraFlex RT2 kit: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ueIEQKt_-z4.html And installed a set of 37" Patagonia MTs: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XmMPNILX1F4.html
Bought a used Jeep with these already on, and not working, took passenger side totally off after much time, the linkage was all bent and unhooked on it, was able to get it reassembled, and Working, but Drivers side making a ratcheting sound like the motor gear is stripped out, and it won’t lift the step! $300 for a new motor, and these units weigh like 80# each, needless to say, I’m removing them, going to install a permanent step that is much lighter, and don’t have to spend big$ to repair! Anyone want a used set, that needs a motor, 2016 JK 4dr, using the pneumatic tube, Gen II I guess?
You can disable the automatic step or you can add in a set of the RSE door delete buttons: www.northridge4x4.com/part/rockers-sliders/sl-dd-100-rock-slide-engineering-step-slider-door-delete-kit
@@northridgenation what do you recommend to use as a sealant ? I'm going to order a pair but stopped last minute to check for this , hopefully they can be internationally shipped , pretty sure the guys here would love those with those extra protection pieces you guys provide
I've had these for 5 years they are the worst investment I have ever made. Most of the time they don't work. The company has the worst product support I have seen. Don't waste money buying these.
