Michael McDonald and Daryl Hall together my two favorite male vocalist of all time singing together. It’s a dream come true for me. I’ve seen them both perform numerous times and always wished that they would collaborate and at least for this song they did.
They're mine too! Although Michael has lost most of that great voice of his where Daryl still sounds awesome for a guy in his 70's. Most vocalists lose their voices by the time they're 60. Sadly 😒
@@lolabean941 I am a huge fan of both too! The difference is diction! Daryl pronounces everything clearly, even when they’re riffing at the end. Michael just emotes! I have no idea what he’s saying…but it sounds great! 🤣
He came from somewhere back in her long ago The sentimental fool don't see Trying hard to recreate what had yet to be created Once in her life, she musters a smile for his nostalgic tale Never coming near what he wanted to say Only to realize it never really was She had a place in his life He never made her think twice As he rises to her apology Anybody else would surely know He's watching her go But a fool believes he sees The wise man has the power to reason away What seems to be Is always better than nothing And nothing at all keeps sending him Somewhere back in her long ago Where he can still believe there's a place in her life Someday, somewhere, she will return She had a place in his life He never made her think twice As he rises to her apology Anybody else would surely know He's watching her go But a fool believes he sees The wise man has the power to reason away What seems to be (if love can come and love can go, then why can't love return once more?) Is always better than nothing (Who got the power?) There's nothing at all (oh, now) But a fool believes he sees (I believe she's never gone away) The wise man has the power To reason away (to reason away) What seems to be (oh, if love can come and love can go, oh, mama) Is always better than nothing (better than nothing) And nothing at all (oh, I believe)
Wow. I was watching another video of a live version of What A Fool Believes and wondered if Michael McDonald had ever sung with Daryl Hall and this was the next video on the list. How does RU-vid know what I'm thinking?
What the, Could not believe it couldn’t get any better that the original however Hall & Oates and the Backing vocals just smashed it out the park guy Have still got it got itEven in their 70s Keep taking the Viagra guys because the chicks will still be queueing up x
Except when he sang this with Kenny Loggins. Loggins was especially great. But I feel ya. McDonald is also unique and great. I really don't love the texture of Darryl Hall's voice on this song, but for his own songs, Solid.
@@JDChicagoOn the contrary, Daryl gave that personal touch to the song and much more lyrical than Donald... another who can give it that personal touch is of course George Michael with the difference that he has a better voice than them.
I always liked the Doobie brothers, Michael mc Donald is fantastic, I never realized talented good Darryl hall is until I started watching live at Darryl’s House.
He's really great! He actually sang many of their songs (from Hall & Oates I mean), and we hear him very clearly most of the time, but many people never realized it was him, thinking that Daryl Hall was always singing everything by himself lol It's only that Daryl's voice is easier to recognize.
I have so many great memories, attached to that song and the time period in my life, when that album, dropped...just makes me smile. And if I REALLY think about specific memories assoiciated with Doobie Brothers music, I can almost bring myself to tears. Lets just say, life was WAYYYYYY more enjoyable, then...life has become so damn serious, these days. "What A Fool Believes' reminds me of going to the roller skating rink on Friday or Saturday night, with cousins, during the late 70s...it reminds me of driving from our home in Wash, DC to Ocean City Beach in 1978 and '79 with my family. .it reminds me of going to the annual boat show, Id go to with my stepfather in Annapolis Harbor/MD, in the late 70s...it reminds me of Summers spent on road trips to Kings Dominion and Buch Gardens in Virginia...it reminds me of pool halls Id hang out in, when I was in the military, stationed in the Bay Area...and a certain someone I walked across the Golden Gate Bridge with one chilly night in 1986, after we got off from our bartending gigs in Saulsalito. He was a HUGE Doobie Bros fan, and we must have sung "What A Fool Believes" from one side of that bridge all the way into the Marina District/San Francisco...it reminds me of going to see the Doobie Brothers, at Red Rocks Amphitheater near Denver, in 1987.. ..and all the craziness and shenangans that ensued after the show with 5 buddies of yours truly at a hotel, downtown Denver....lets just say, my oratory skills kept us from getting thrown out of no less that 3 bars that night!🙄...BIG thanks to the Doobie Bros, for being a part of my life soundtrack.
A Stellar performance indeed but, "Come-on Music Lovers 🎶 "...Let's give a big round of applause for that "Killer Guitarists 🎸 solo achievement!"..........
Daryl I refresh this song with its own style...it gave it that lyrical touch unlike Donald who is more Funk and square, I prefer Daryl since he gives it softness and his own style that prevails over the Donald style Which is already too invasive
Somewer back along ago" What does Daryl sing At the beginning of the song when it starts it is epic(0:33')And at 0:49' you can see that Donald is trying to invite him with the: tell" Which gives him a similar infection, from there it is point for Daryl in this match that for me destroyed him
I'm 29 and my dad show me this kind of music all about 60s 70s 80s... and I love it! And I feel sad because I can't grow with this kind of music...I'm jealous!!!!! The music of this new era is so horrible and disgusting....
The entire concert has not been made available, only the encore where all 3 bands performed together.ru-vid.com/group/PLS3j7bGhUgXh6faCveiQkQK2rQ_s_OXZ6
