Actual vocal was by Milijenko Matijevic, who sang with the awesome Steelheart...honestly one of the best singers to come out of the late 80s early 90s.
All the songs except the last song when he's singing in a bar after leaving the band. That was sung by Brian Vander Ark of The Verve Pipe. Find their song "Freshmen" and you'll recognize his voice.
"Rock Star" is one of my 3 personal favorite rock band movies by far (Bohemian & Almost Famous also tied). Kept watching this every now and then to keep my spirits up. 🤘🏽🤘🏼🤘🏻🤘
Get chills every time great movie definitely a underrated gem wahlberg is one hell of a actor. No genre of music besides hard rock and metal speaks louder to me. That was awesome
The guy auditioning right before Mark and Jennifer walk in to the room and stare at each other as he walks out after he auditions, is actually Michael Starr of Steel Panther
Did you know the guy with the skull and chains tattoo in Steel Dragon is actually Zakk Wylde, the guy who replaced Mark Wahlberg in his band is the lead singer of Third Eye Blind and Thor from the end of the movie is Myles Kennedy
A movie that really sticks in the memory! So many great scenes. The concerts and the MTV footage was perfect ‘87 era mimic. Mark did an awesome job selling it, in spite of being an R&B artist. Was special. Tim Owens story with Judas Priest Revised with Arnel’s story with Journey A real kick of a movie!
Fuck I just saw dude above me say the peacock shit and I just cracked up then locked up fuck it props you guys are hysterical. I took mushrooms about an hour ago and had to find new earbuds while drunk and trippin. I'm usually quite witty. Next time I'll stay close to the rivers and the lakes I am used to. I really made this tripping btw.
The editing is so great in this scene. Without a lot of dialogue, you can see the subtle but real buy in of the audience. Then you see the talking w/o Chris knowing what is going on or his gf either.
@@paulwilson9281 Nope... Some vocals were done by Jeff Scott Soto - Like the vocal for Stand Up and Shout was all him. Most of the vocal work, if not majority of it for the movie was Miljenko Matijevic though. I mean they literally adapted his own bands name into the movie. Steel Dragon was the fake Hollywood version of his band SteelHeart
Awesome movie....one of my all time favorites. Brings me back to the 80's everytime I hear the music. Oh.....Jennifer Anniston & Tania are smokin hot also!
As lead singer of the LA Thundercatz; a well known LA metal band, Chris singing and moves are dead on! I was smack in the middle of the LA heavy metal scene in the mid 80’s and this movie had it all correct! Awesome movie!!!!
I own this movie. And If I had a nickel every time somebody watched it at my place and are stunned. They say "This is incredible!" " I never heard of it!" I seriously think they pushed this movie under the radar on purpose. It's sums up SO much of the 80"s and 90's in a movie it's amazing.
In my opinion this may be Marky Marks (Mr Wahlberg) best film of all time and the soundtracks for this movie totally kicks ass. Love when the credits are rolling and the cast & crew break out Good Vibrations and they start breakdancing on stage. Cant turn this movie off when it’s on and constantly playing the audition part on RU-vid
Are we missing the fact that this is basically the Tim "Ripper" Owens story? Tim was in a Judas Priest tribute band. When Halford left someone sent the band a tape of Owens. He got the gig, and (I may be wrong here) his first album with them was Juggulator. When Halford wanted to come back Owens left the band. Tim was also a vocalist for Iced Earth, replacing and being replaced by Matthew Barlow, and sings in the Dio's Disciples band (basically Dio without Ronnie, though they do have a hologram). The film was supposedly approved by Priest, and then wasn't, so changes were made. I remember watching this and thinking, "This is the Tim Owens story!" Fun Fact: In the film, Marky Mark goes to Seattle and starts singing Grungey Alternative singer-songwriter stuff. In real life, Tim Owens also sang for a band called Seattle, doing covers of Grungey Alternative singer-songwriter stuff.
"Um....sure. But can we also throw a rap song on the album too? I've got a one called Good Vibration. Also....could I refer to the band as the funky bunch?"
I started getting back into singing SPECIFICALLY because of this song. And when my school had their teacher talent show for the students to come watch, and they saw their favorite Geography teacher singing this lovely little ballad and then but out the high notes...I almost couldn't hear anything else. :)
@@weplayatnight3913 Yep...sure did. While other teachers were doing cute little dance numbers lip-syncing to Cyndi Lauper's "Girls just wanna have fun", or doing little skits, I actually got up and sang this one live with my band. The following year we performed the song "Ghost Love Score" by Finnish band Nightwish just to show off. :)
A brilliant (& personally chilling) poignant scene by a motion picture for rock music fans!!....as were many in this film!! The construed juvenile scenes were cute. An exceptional production of a simple story created & executed perfectly by all those behind it and cast in it! An undersold yet timeless cult film that didn’t get the recognition it deserved.
I saw this movie on 9/11/01 with my ex because we couldn’t bare to see what was on tv throughout that dreadful day great movie I can’t believe it’s been that long
@Iraq Lobsta!! 45 . . . . he said his favorite of Marks movies, not necessarily his best role, plus you left out 4 Brothers which was really good too . . . douche bag !
This is arguably Mark Wahlberg’s finest hour as an Actor. Fans saw a sweet lovable vulnerability in Mark that they had not seen before in his previous films. This movie was well written, well cast and had the 80’s culture down to a science!
@@DJRushX1 I was in Disney World for a work conference and our CEO was a huge classic rock guy and had Foreigner play a private party for us at Epcot. When they started their set I was shocked to see Jeff Pilsen playing bass for them. Come to think of it I don’t know if any of the original members were playing. It was about eight years ago or so.
One of my favorite movies of all time. Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Aniston did great job. It's the break up and never getting back together that was the hard part to deal with. So much of that reminds me of my last marriage. God bless Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Aniston
Jennifer Aniston reminds me of my 2nd rocker wife I married back than she was so supportive of me as a singer for metal for high vocals and my audio engineering days she was my music producer for one time on an album and did 3d art for my music! Too bad we never worked out as we loved the 80’s together and in public we looked like rock stars from that era always people knowing we were together when walking into anywhere in public!
@@godbluffvdgg Yes, that was the name of his solo project after the band replaced him. "Murder Police" covered Police songs in the Metal genre'. "Don't Stand so Close to Me" brought the boys to the pit.
