There was definitely one episode with just the Mario party baseball minigame, but as I recall, it was on grumpcade and it was with Ninja Brian I believe. Can't remember if it was with Dan or Arin though.
The infield Fly rule is to make sure on a pop-up to an infielder with more than one person on base, the fielder can't just let it drop and get an easy double play.
@@poochy2479 I find 99% of the time with sports you only really figure it out by watching and seeing what does and doesn't count as a penalty/foul and when play starts and stops etc.
It's a game of catch, but you get paid money for it, and people watch you do it. You run sometimes, you laugh sometimes, you cry sometimes. When you get tired of playing, each team storms the field and fist fights.

The infield fly rule is in place to prevent the defense from getting a free double play when there are runners on first and second. By intentionally letting the ball hit the ground, they could just throw the ball to 3rd and then 2nd to get a double play, since the runners need tag up on popups.

@@barethor5869 Ah I see. Essentially, if there is a runner on first base, and the batter hits a flyball and it is caught, only the batter would be out. If the defense were allowed to let it drop, the runner on first would be forced to run to second base, because there can’t be two runners on the same base. This would mean that once the ball drop, the fielder can throw to second, resulting in one out, and then throw to first, resulting in a second out. With the infield fly rule, the play is called dead once a fielder is under the ball, meaning only one out can be gotten on the play, and the runner on first is still safe.

Man, this makes me want to see them play one of those MLB Slugfest games from Midway. Arcade Baseball and hilarity at its finest (you can even have players run around and punch each other.). Even the announcers in that game are a riot to hear, including the NBA Jam announcer.

13:05 short answer of Infield Fly: If there are less than two outs and you have runners on first and second (third either yes/no), if it's a pop-up that'd be considered an easy catch infield, it's called. It's called by the umpires raising their arms directly up and pointing to make it easily noticeable. The point of it is to make an automatic single out so that there isn't a cheap/easy way to make a double or triple play if the the infielder lets it drop, keeping the players at their bases when they otherwise should have run.
I love how they never stop and ask "do we need to explain the rules of MTG to anyone?", but as soon as they play a sports game: "our lovelies don't know anything about sports, we may need to hold their hands here"
Jesus the nostalgia overload... I played this game religiously as a child. Ken Griffey Jr. was my favorite baseball player growing up. Literally anytime I think of this game I can remember what the cartridge even smelled like before putting into the snes..

its absolutely bizarre to me that they use real team names without using real player names.. might as well have named them fantasy team names too, theoretically if you're choosing a specific team its because youre a fan of that team and want to play as the players of that team rather than just liking the logo or whatever! lol
A lot of youtubers emulate simply because its far easier to record off a computer screen than to record off a TV and a real SNES, though i BELIEVE arin has said before he does own the physical copy of most if not all the games they play on the show, if a physical copy exists
@@FirestoneX Yeah I take it with a grain of salt too, but then again, he's rich enough to be able to afford some these games without batting an eye so maybe he puts in his best effort lol I know they have many copies of some of these games too cause fans send them in for sure. You can literally see how many hundreds of games he has in some of the old videos that showed the grump studios because they had like a whole wall / hallway of games

this was one of my favorite game as a kid. music is bangin for sure. i remember being infuriated at times doing the world series because i could never get past maybe the fourth or fifth team.

I didn’t realize how nostalgic the N64 Ken Griffey Jr game was for me until seeing this. watching my brothers play together and then years and years later when my oldest brother would visit home, plug in the N64, and i’d watch him play til I fell asleep. thanks for bringing that sweet memory back even though this isn’t the same exact game❤️
Sports! I do really enjoy watching yall play the sports games, and the comfort of knowing I'm not the only one confused as hell by their control schemes. There's several of these I could watch yall do a few more of each.
Pretty much all games had terrible ui from this era. Today's games have had 30 years to improve on every aspect, yet the only way they're "better" than N64, SNES, or NES era, is that they're prettier looking. Omg you can see the sweat on the face... buuuuut everything else is still trash.
I haven't watched a Game Grump video in years and I have to say, the laugh at the intro and the short dialogue in the first 30 seconds really brought me back in time.

This game is actually a perfect rendition of why so many people stopped watching baseball. Pitchers kept getting better and hitters kept getting worse.
Regarding the infield fly rule, the point of it is so the defense can't intentionally drop a routine/easy fly ball to get a double play. If there's less than 2 outs and runners on 1st and 2nd or bases loaded, any routine fly ball on the infield (deemed as "reasonable effort" based on the skill level of the players) is signaled as an infield fly by the umpires and the batter is out. The runners can advance at their own risk (like if they drop the catch or throw it away for any reason). But it is waved off for a foul ball, or if it isn't hit high enough to be routine, and the umpires can call it after the play instead if we somehow miss it. I doubt most people watching this care about the rules explanation, but since I work as an umpire, I figured to help answer that.
