Dude, I love their equipment, but it is super hard to find in USA. Just one of the mods is in Amazon. Where are you getting them from?

Awesome video! Have the board and module on the way. Does the patch module also work with the footswitch cable? You mentioned that at the start but later I only saw 4 cables in the patch bay (if I counted correctly, with footswitch it would have been 5). Looking forward to building it!

Nice buddy! You're gonna love it. Yes the patch bay works with foot switches (trs cables). I had mine setup like: 1 input, 2 send 3 receive 4 output 5 footswitch

Yo! Your cable loom has the power cable inside too - how is it going out of the other end? (You only show the end that goes to the pedalboard) Its just that normally power are somewhere on the ground, and amp way above. Just curious because i was thinking to do the same thing, or just to have the power cable seperated. thansk

I recently bought a rockboard cinque 5.3 and started installing the loop tape on the board it came with but, it wasn’t enough to finish now I’m looking for the right size of loop tape I used which I believe is 25 mm wide and the length was a whole roll. I’m looking for that row but I’ve noticed they only sell it in small lengths, can someone help on telling me where I can buy what I’m looking for?
@snowyowl1717
@snowyowl1717 3 года назад
Awesome vid. Might be a silly question, the mod, so you plug into your send and return on your amp and those go into different ports on the mod, then on the other side of the mod you run them to the appropriate pedals (start and end of fox loop chain)? Hope that makes sense lol
@TheXxjmpxxx
@TheXxjmpxxx 3 года назад
I have the Mod 1, here's how I do mine which I believe is very similar to how Will does his (don't quote me tho!) A) Guitar IN > tuner > noise gate > dirt > B) OUT > Amp input C) Amp FX send IN > EQ > noise gate return > D) Amp FX rtn > Delays > Reverbs E) Amp footswitch OUT > Amp FS IN Maybe that helps 🤷‍♂️ Not sure if I answered your question but it's a really great system if you like to have some I/O with your rig.

Another good idea is to put the wah pedal away from the power supply. If you want to know why search for the Cioks videos on Henning Pauly's channel.
@michael_caz_nyc
@michael_caz_nyc 5 лет назад
Hey man - enjoyed your demo, video-explanation. I have 2 Questions. #1 How did you Mount ( affix ) the Wah to your Board ? and #2 What Riser are you using ( in the rear left ) - Thanks.
@willripleyguitar
@willripleyguitar 5 лет назад
Cheers Michael, thanks for that. With wah pedals, I always put them on my FX board by REMOVING the feet all together. Get it so just so the screws that hold the bottom plate are exposed. This way you can treat them just like any other stomp box - just put some velcro on there and you can mount a wah to your board. #2 - The riser's I'm using are just the PedalTrain ones - RockBoard has their proprietary pedal risers too (which are surely better), but I had these risers left over from my PedalTrain and they are working just fine (not perfect, but working!).

How does power get to the Pedal Power supply? It looks like that module has some male IEC connector. Do you have to get some adapters?
@willripleyguitar
@willripleyguitar 4 года назад
Ya exactly. The unit essentially is a hub where you pass connections through. So you need a IEC cable to go from the mod1 to the voodoo labs power supply. I got mine from RockBoard. It's been working out great and have been using this rig for a couple of years now. Lemme know if you had any more questions

Have you ever compared and noticed any difference in tone between their flat patch cables vs George L cables or any other common cables that people might use between pedals? And have those flat cables been reliable? Or do they ever not work (cables go bad or short out?)
@willripleyguitar
@willripleyguitar 4 года назад
I haven't done a side-by-side comparison so I can't comment on that. They have certainly been reliable though. I've been using them with really good results for nearly 2 years!
@thuydinh2489
@thuydinh2489 4 года назад
Great video! how does the other end of the 'snake' look? do they just split out so you can plug into back of your amp for FX and into your guitar etc etc? And if so, how long are the cables you got?
@willripleyguitar
@willripleyguitar 4 года назад
Thanks! The other end of the snake isn't quite as tidy because some of those cables reach to the back of the amp, some to the front, and there's a power cable that needs to go to a wall. I cut the tech flex so about 2-3ft off the amps end where the cables hang out. I just used a separate cable wrap on that end for wrapping it up. I made this snake out of 20 ft cables. I want to make a duplicate version with 10 ft cables so I have both depending on the stage size.

When you say you had to tear it all down and rebuild it, did you mean all the way down to removing the power and the in/out module as well? How far did you have to go?
@willripleyguitar
@willripleyguitar 5 лет назад
Hey TJ, no I didn't have to go that far. I just mean I had to take off pedals, and rearrange the signal flow. The module, and power supply are pretty well solid, but the cables routing underneath the board - the power cables and patch cables - did need to get rerouted (which wasn't really a big deal). My pedalboard build has been in a really good place, I haven't had to do any major rebuilds for quite some time. And even if I do, I find that the rockboard sets me up in a way where I can reorganize, and adjust quickly and easily regardless of the gig, or pedals that I add in or remove.
@tjnugent62
@tjnugent62 5 лет назад
@@willripleyguitar That seems to happen anytime you try and lock down your pedals into a solid unit. They seem to want to move around, jump off the board while new pedals are waiting to jump on to the board at any time.
@tjnugent62
@tjnugent62 5 лет назад
@@willripleyguitar I have a Truetone CS 12 PRO, so it is pretty beg, probably the same size as the Mondo Pedal Power unit. It doesn't seem to want to fit just anywhere, but I am pretty sure i can put this on that particular board, the same way you put yours.
@willripleyguitar
@willripleyguitar 5 лет назад
Yeah! Isn't that the way us guitar players are with our pedals! That's another big reason I went with the rockboard is that is just a fact of life as a guitar player. It allows me to do pretty expansive signal flows, while making changes relatively easy, and the flat patch cables really help because you can fit pedals in super tight. It just makes the whole process a lot more doable, with more options.

Do.you think they'd be better off with that i/o modular thing on the SIDE of the board vs the back? Our amps are usually behind us, no? Seems like a hassle to.run that shit on top and not the side
@willripleyguitar
@willripleyguitar 5 лет назад
If you just use cables with 90* ends, it gets them flowing in the right direction - including the first input - your guitar to the pedalboard (I plug that in to the MOD1 as well). The 90* cables help get your board pressed right up to the stage monitors on tighter stages too. I know the Friedman boards have their modules on the side of the boards...but anyways, I haven't found the module placement to bug me personally...Anyways, thanks for your comment! cheers. - Will

@@willripleyguitar i got you. its not a bad system by any means. but if were going to improve the current pedal board model maybe thatd be a good idea to run of the flagpole with the framus warwick guys. maybe on the bigger boards they can put the cut out on the back and the side for peopel who want the option

@@robbievalentine8239 ya man! It's a "Pedal Python" and it works great. It's basically just this material called Tech Flex, but they send you wraps and ties to make the job easier and make it pro. The RockBoard cables were great too because they're super thin, they slid right in the snake without too much work!

How Does the tray actually hold the power supply in place?
@willripleyguitar
@willripleyguitar 5 лет назад
It's such a crazy simple design, it's just a flat piece of sheet metal and some rivets. For my voodoo Labs power pedal 2 plus, it holds it steadily in place. Although it's not machined in, I've been using the board for gigs and rehearsals steadily for about 8 months with absolutely no problem or worry! The guys at rockboard are really doing some good stuff, and the tray is a very simple answer to a complex problem.
