This was quite a surprising trip!! I had walked past this spot many times in the past because it didn't look all too interesting but this time i decided, hey why not. I'm so glad I did because I ended up finding some of the nicest pockets I've seen in this area!! anyhow enjoy the video and come along with me on another adventure🙂

There is this feeling every rockhound gets when you are digging in a pegmatite and the walls give away to a pocket of clay... Just no other feeling quite like it.

@NWRockExplorer 3 года назад
its addicting haha!! This pocket was a bit exposed so I have a feeling there might be more at the bottom of the ledge if I sift through the dirt and roots.🙂

@@NWRockExplorer That is almost guaranteed, I usually find a pocket because I find the crystals leading up to it.

I love how clear these ones are!! I dream of finding something similar to what they find in the alps, so pure and clear like water!!

@@NWRockExplorer I do too, my dad got to visit Switzerland for vacation when he was young and he found a pocket of glassy clear crystals but he did not have tools to remove it, nonetheless his story has made me want to take a trip to Switzerland to hunt for quartz.

I've never seen segin/tessin habit in Canadian qz. Pikes Peak comes to mind! Cool stuff m8!

Thanks!! Tessins are actually pretty common here in BC. One of my buddies finds some massive ones in the Rockies, it'd be awesome to dig with him someday!!

For sure!! Still lots of that mountain to explore and lots more to find in that same pegmatite. I really hope to find some smokeys or even amethyst at some point, I think I'd have a better chance in granite though as it holds more radiation🙂

Awesome! Thank you!! I cant wait to go back and see if I can find some more, the weather seems to be cooling down a bit right now which makes for better digging conditions😃

Thank you!! I'm just headed out on a camping trip tomorrow so we'll see what I can get up to. I also just got a new camera with an external mic so it'll be fun to play around with it out there!!

Great finds! You need like a 20 penny nail,a gutter spike or maybe a hard piece of plastic to help digging out those holes and not ripping your hands up. I am envious of your nice crystals. Keep up the great videos!
@NWRockExplorer
@NWRockExplorer 2 года назад
Thanks!! I've seen people use points from deer antlers, I'll have to give it a try sometime. one of the few things that are nice and tough that wont scratch the crystals😃
@brucevanderzanden9638
@brucevanderzanden9638 2 года назад
If you can find a piece of hard plastic or rubber, that should not scratch the crystals. I am waiting for it to cool down some here before I head out looking for rocks. We are in another heat spell. 100+ degrees Fahrenheit.
@NWRockExplorer
@NWRockExplorer 2 года назад
@@brucevanderzanden9638 Hopefully it cools down soon!! Prospectors are having it quite rough this year and many are coming north because they can't be in the mountains with all the smoke, hope they get through the season alright. Also sometimes I just use sticks and they work in a pinch as a dig tool.
@brucevanderzanden9638
@brucevanderzanden9638 2 года назад
Yes, the smoke has made things difficult at times, then the heat. I hope those that are coming North don’t find your good areas. Another idea with the nail, grind of the point and round it a bit. Softer edges do not scratch as much or as bad. Nails do not ale up much space in pack either. I hope to join you sometime in the future. In the meantime keep up the really good videos. Your identification of what you see and find helps me greatly when I am out.

@@brucevanderzanden9638 That's awesome!! yea I'm not too worried about prospectors coming up here because there are some cool characters to meet out there and I'm always up to have more dig buddies. Anyhow, I hope the weather cools off for you to get some digging in soon, take care out there🙂

Just started watching you are amazing! Calms me down. Do you know of any places around Vancouver where you could find anything interesting?
@NWRockExplorer
@NWRockExplorer 2 года назад
Thanks!! I haven't done too much exploring in the vancouver area myself. There's a great group on Facebook called BC Rockhunters, that's where I first started and it gave me a good head start into my adventures. i'm sure there are some people there that are more knowledgeable on the Vancouver area and maybe even some people to hunt with😃
