I've adjusted earrings with the classic clip by using a small slot screwdriver to gently lift the center prong - just a little. Then try on and adjust again if needed. Loving your vibe!
@@MarianaZelenjuk Hi Mariana! Could you please create some content on how to dress for opera in Italy? Especially interested of the dress codes for La Scala and La Fenice. Read somewhere that for regular performances, i.e. not some grand opening, ladies wear rather simple black dresses and low key jewellery.
I had an aunt named Jewel, who was for sure a glam grandma. She had a mink stole she wore everywhere. Once my mom had a covered dish supper, and Jewel realized she had forgotten one of her covered dishes and went home to get it, leaving her mink on the bed. All the other ladies lined up in the bedroom to try on that mink. I remember how fun that was to watch even though I was only 12 at the time. Seeing my grandma in the mink with her apron still tied around her waist was priceless.
I just dig out my late mother in law fur coat from my basement storage. I paired it with all black outfit underneath and I couldn’t recognize myself. I don’t know where I’m going to go looking so fabulous but I will give it a try. I might have to change the car, house and possibly husband to make the look more cohesive 😂
Vintage Joan Rivers jewelry that was sold on QVC fits your category perfectly! I'm going to dig out some of my old pieces. I'm 81, and this is the look I'm really going for. The other thing these glam grandmas have in common is that they are aging naturally without those horrible plastic surgery faces and awful lip and cheek fillers!
A younger woman at church this morning wondered how she could get my look...immediately I thought of your last video..❤ It would be wonderful to see young women dress up again!
I’m sure the glam grandmothers (me also at 70yrs old)are proud of this series. I was blessed to have been raised by beautiful glam women. I held on to many pieces from the past. Amazed at the compliments I received with just my day looks going shopping or to medical appointments.
I am twice your age but we are definitely soulmates when it comes to our aesthetic. I wear things I bought decades ago and they don’t look dated. Good quality, good taste and simplicity are timeless and never boring, if done right.
I bought the Lilou top from Modern Citizen and told them you made me aware of their brand. I like their twist on things as well. The other thing you pointed out that I will buy is the jewelry from HLC, love the snake necklace and a couple of other things. I look forward to your videos, thanks for the effort!
One of the best examples of simple but elegant outfits that are classic, timeless and on trend. I have never commented on one of these types of videos before. That is hoe impressed I am by this one.
My mum is Glam Grandma at times. Not around the house, but if you see her in the city- you would be stunned. I have got my love of silk and cashmere from her, before it was trending. Lately I inherited pearls from her and I could not be happier. Fun fact, she is never decluttering. She will pull out from closet something from ‘80 and ‘90 and wear it now. Most of her dresses are custom made. And ladies from that time had nothing fake; fur, leather, gold - everything was real. When I see my mums jewelry collection, I sincerely can not believe we could afford that.
I would love to see this trend take off among young women who are constantly wearing athleisure. They look so carbon copy of each other and there is little color or creativity to a wardrobe like that.
Yes! Please make more of these, they would be most welcome. I only learned in my late 30s about the power of good accessories, and hunting vintage pieces, estate sales and ebay. Having a small but nice collection of Hermes scarves has done wonders to my outfits.
You would love the Australian movie ‘Ladies in Black’ it is just charming , set in 1950’s /60’s fashion department store and the clothes so stylish we could wear them today.
That was awesome, I could watch your styling videos all day long and never tire of your content, you are so classy and did the glam grandma look proud. Thanks.🎉
I’ve been dressing like a “glam grandma” for at least a decade now. I also consider it just a classic style but I’ve always idolized older women simply because they dress as ladies who have lived a life. A life spent curating their style, collecting pieces through the years and developing mannerisms from both their upbringing to their personal situation. They’re just fabulous.
Please continue videos for us glam grammies! When going out, sunglasses are the cherry on top...but the right sunglasses. Please talk about this in upcoming videos. You rock girl!
After watching your videos I have fully embraced my classic style. I always loved classic style but now I ravel in it. I have added statement earrings and necklace to my wardrobe as well as some broches. I feel more glamouros than ever!
I am 70, and I still have some of my jewellery from the eighties and nineties 😊 and my younger colleagues, I still work full time, always want to know where did I got them 😄 . I love brooches, I have a nice collection, some got adopted by my niece 😊, and I discovered a 2nd hand shop that sell vintage ones. I must visit before winter. All my evening clothes are at least 30 years old, and still look up to date and all the girls ask me to donate them to them 😅
This is without doubt the best fashion video I have ever watched. As a 72 year old it fills me with joy. You have given us a voice. Love your work & more please.
I love this Glam Grandma series, and can't wait for the next one!! I'm interested to see what a Glam Grandma would wear in warmer weather...My favorite piece was the fur stole, just gorgeous!
Great content! A small patch of moleskin padding, sticky part on the back of the earlobe, will cushion a tight clip earring or will help keep a loose clip in place.
I am 68 and love the video, you do these so well. Wear a lot of what you like. The great thing about being this age is that you know what you love and you know what you don’t want. I worked in the beauty industry as a hair stylist for 30 years….😮
Mariana,as always your work compliments your own style , grace, and charming enthusiasm. How lucky are we ! I Selfishly hope you never tire of this cherished hobby of creating videos for us to enjoy!💐💐💐💕
Since the accessories are usually the star of the show, these looks can be adopted and adapted, mixed and matched, throughout a wardrobe. Inspires creativity to change up the outfit.
You look GORGEOUS in all these looks, Mariana. And those high gloss black boots vavavoom! I’ve been wearing classic grandma glam my whole life and my age will eventually be catching up 😊😅❤
More, please! This has been a revelation! I’d like to see a bit more humor and edge, adding a bit of whimsy or fierceness to the aesthetic to reflect my personality. Amazing! Thank you!
you are a delight to watch and listen to,I am 72 years old and I am petite I love your sense of style and several times during this video I thought I was looking at Audrey Hepburn. Many many thanks please keep your videos coming they are a joy.
I love this. It showcases style, femininity, classic looks, glam (without certain body parts on display). I had one of my graduate students (a male) comment on my style just this week. So, perhaps the young women might give this a try.
When I watched the first video I felt like you were peeking into my wardrobe. These are all things that I wear. I’m in my late 50s. The classics never go out of style. Thank you for your content!
Just divine! I loved this video to the moon and back :) PLEASE do more. Why not make this a regular theme? I love what you do. Inspirational, imaginative and gorgeous. Another for my class of Queenagers.
Love all the glam-grand looks. Many years ago, a friend of mine loaned me some fabulous clip-on earrings that she assured me would not pinch my years. Within an hour, the pain began. I endured the entire night because the earrings made the outfit I was wearing and taking them off was not an option. I realized that night that perhaps she secretly hated me.
I am so happy you mentioned twin sets. They are so underrated by stylists today, yet they are warm and make you look finished and well put together. I love the ones from the 40s and 50s when they often had a grosgrain ribbon sewn down one edge.
I was a sweater buyer for a department store for many ears and loved buying twin sets for my customers. I often designed two different shells under the cardigan for more versatility, maybe a solid and a stripe, or different necklines. I wore a simple red cashmere twin set the other day and realized I’ve had them for over 20 years. Looks like I bought them today (but probably better quality)
I love twin sets too. I wore them when I was in my 40s, although they are sometimes perceived as frumpy. Now that I'm over 70 I will be brave enough to wear them. I'll add pearls which some influencers say are ageing. I'd rather look well put together and wear clothes that suit my personality. I don't care about looking younger. This video and the comments have given me inspiration ❤
@@Nickysmom What a lovely job! In the early 80's I visited Cork in Ireland and there was a fantastic shop dedicated to knitwear. Masses of shelves all full of sweaters and cardigans. Heavenly. I wish we still had those kind of shops.
@@JaneCrossan In my opinion pearls are the ideal accessory for twinsets. They look neat and classy at any age. And a tweed skirt - let's go the whole hog! My inspiration is Joan Fontaine's wardrobe in Alfred Hitchcock's film, 'Rebecca'.
I love all these looks! Also, how you built upon each basic, suggesting options and alternatives, very savvy, and seemed like so many more outfits than it was!
I’m 78 and chickened out in college when faced with an ice cube, a hypodermic needle and a cork. Oh the good old days. Still have virgin ears. So I know clip ons. If they are too tight I just try to bend them back a tiny bit at a time. I didn’t used to wear earrings much but now I do.
Darling girl, this was your best reel ever! Being a Glam Grandma myself I salute you! Each style you showed was just a delight to see. You’re adorable! ❤️
My mother did not have our ears pierced because she thought it was barbaric and I was not going to inflict pain on myself later, when I could have done it. So fine jewelry or costume, I have stuck to clips. Some I don’t even feel, others are painful after a while. A jeweler is often able to adjust them, though this is not always possible. I wear them all, but the comfortable ones get worn more often. I wear the ones most appropriate for the outfit, pain be damned. You live long enough, you’ll learn this pain is more bearable than others. BTW, clip ons don’t pull your ear lobes out of shape as those for pierced ears.
I have some of my grandmothers earrings which have a screw type rather than the clasp type. These make adjusting them a little easier and more comfortable. She was born in the late 1890’s.
@@sherylwickenheiser2582 I remember playing with screw in earrings as a child. I recently saw several silver pairs in a charity shop. I was tempted but as I now have pierced ears I thought they may be uncomfortable.
Great video Mariana ❤ you’re the perfect model for these looks. Please add warm weather styles for Spring / Summer / Resort wear. Also, ideas of where to shop please. Bravo!
I’m a new subscriber due to your Glam Grandma popping up in my feed! THANK YOU! I adore you and your channel! Happy Valentine’s Day from California❤️❤️❤️ I love your style!
Just found your channel and love the ideas. This are actually my favorite looks - so I do have collection of scarves, brooches, and yes even clip ons (despite pierced ears) To make clip earrings more comfortable there are little pads that can be attached to the earring and the clip. (They don’t stay on forever and need to be replaced periodically). As you said these are basically classic looks so any age woman will look elegant. 😊
I just got my long-desired Loewe Anagram brooch in gold (plated, maybe? It was pricey, but not enough be solid gold, I should have checked). I love it because it is classic, but still modern, and the filigree/scroll design reminds me of all the beautiful decorative ironwork in Paris. (My second Loewe Anagram belt is on its way, love these, too). I love classic style, grandma or not - it’s the only style for me. Top-quality fabrics and materials are essential, too. If these two criteria are met, we only have to buy the item once for a lifetime of enjoyment.
Wow! Your style is amazing. I’m a very youthful 64 yr old (wide leg jeans, white trainers, Alaia ballerinas) and your style is so inspiring. I just subscribed because I need to see all your content. Bravo!
If the clips are too tight, I’ve found using a sliver of paper, plastic or whatever to hold it open by an extra hair without making them fall off can help. I wonder if there is a way to adjust the “spring” or bend it gently out a little so it doesn’t grip so tight?
I love your channel; I love the glam grandma, and I use to be but low I live in a very warm place and is difficult to achieve these look; I play with sun glasses but I’d love you to tell us how to be a glamma on a hot weather. Thanks.
Lovely styling, as always. I love silk shirts, they’re essentials in my wardrobe, but I usually prefer a nice matte crepe de chine or semi-matte habotai finish. (The French brand Equipment has nice matte silk ones). The glossy charmeuse satin is nice, too, but is a bit more dressy. I tend to be on the dressed-up side as it is.
Mariana would you ever consider getting analysed for your colour season? I’m curious it’s see what else are your best colours (though you already look fab in the colours you wear now)
