Meh like mentioned when you reside in an area where it snows 3 or 4 months of the year you get used to it. Can't just not do anything for 3 months until the warmer weather comes back. Plus snow driving is fun as hell. I'm sure he has a blast in his awd subaru in the snow up there
I just blew a 6.5" K9 on the 1st day! But it wasn't actually blown, the Surrounds on half of the subwoofer came undone. I glued them with some E6000 and it's playing just fine now. Only thing is when I play hard core Low HZ for a song or two the whole car starts to smell like glue. Other than that it pounds.
I just discovered you on here a few days ago, the more of your vids I watch, the more I like you. You put these subs through the tests. Appreciate everything you are doing. Thanks
Yessir. I have a bunch of subs I wish I could do demos on but I work and run a small shop here in Orlando so I don't have much time but I'm glad your channel is growing much respect to you
I have the d2 version of this sub wired to 1 ohm on an Orion XTR2500. It's in a 2.8 cu/ft box with an 8in port tuned to 29Hz taking 45 volts (that's 2,025w) on music, and has been for 5 months. And I play my music LOUD.
I have a rockville punisher 10” i messed it up.i bought some lord of bass parts and reconed it and made it a 15” and it will straight get down with it.😂i need to do a video and see if i can get some hits on it.its not the greatest glue job but it gets down .sounds really good.
Hey Parker I bought one of those subs a few months ago and it was wired to a power acoustik va1 8000D amp at 1ohm and I liked it so much I bought another one for my hyundal tiburon and I was not disappointed! It slaps hard with 2 subs wired to 2ohms! The gain is only at about 30% and my rearview mirror moves when the bass hits!
@@AlexGarcia-xs9qo I have a Rockville amp and have no complaints with it. It seems to do rated, no overheating or protect and I let that thing pound for at least a couple of hours a day.
Great job on all the videos man. Your channel has taught me alot and is the reason I decided to give the bdc4 12's a chance and I've been happy with them so far. You should consider building and buying more boxes and show everyone the difference between sealed, ported and bandpass... like when you review a sub you could play it in different boxes and see the difference. Plus I like box building vids lol. Just a thought. Keep up the good work.
Skar actually makes some really decent prefab boxes. Good quality for reasonable price. With the price of wood these days it would likely cost just as much or more to build one. Of course if you need a certain volume, you may not fine one prefab and have no choice but to make your own. For most people putting one or two subs in their daily driver, it shouldn't be too hard to find a prefab box that is very close in spec to what the manufacturer of your sub recommends
Great video! I think it would be cool if you did the Rockville destroyer and see how it stacks up in comparison video to see what the verdict is on is it worth the extra money and your personal opinion, etc.
You gotta know what your buying. Everyone knows by now rockville is a good brand as long as you don't expect them to do rated power. If your looking for something that does that look at sundown, Fosgate, Kicker, etc. Parker love the videos. Maybe Rockville will listen and rate their stuff appropriately and make some small tweaks that could make a big difference. Keep up the good work my dude!!
Continous Program Peak are the three ratings and used by larger speaker manufactures of PA equipment(JBL,Peavey etc). Rockville started out as Audio Savings selling P/A equipment. Its not incorrect or weird. Its just a different way of doing it. These types of systems generally deal with uncompressed music so there are more peaks. Not like the pre recorded music played through most car stereo's which is generally heavy compressed in recording and mastering So with the 3 ratings, the idea is you get an amp that is the program rating, knowing that you have a little extra head room to handle short peaks without clipping to, deal with live(program material) less than ideally compressed music. But you can't pump a continuous sin wave at the program rating it will/should not last long. This also ensures you always have clean power, to extract max long term performance but if abused, enough power to damage or push things out of their happy operating ranges into that realm of failure. BTW I have never heard of anyone using the peak numbers any where but in the marketing department Edit- the reason you see car and home use rms(continuous) and peak(program) is they play mastered music. Which do not have those un mastered peaks to deal with so the over all levels can be pushed higher. So its ideal to suggest a less powerful amp, so they use a different rating system. I hope that makes sense.
Thank you for that explanation! If they are going to make subs for car audio they should get on board with how the rest for the industry rates car audio stuff so it doesn't confuse people. Unfortunately people new to the car audio world see that leak power rating and get excited not knowing the subs won't handle that continuesly. It's kinda shady and ALOT of manufacturers do it, not just rockville. Again the explanation was awesome!! You rock.
I don't see how it confuses anyone, they are very clear in their own explanation to the way they use the 3 ratings and it made perfect sense to me, i actually got exactly what this guy got out of their explanation
Thanks for the test. Couple of observations: 1) The BL loss / power compression seems quite bad.... 137dB @ ~400W to 143dB @ ~6000W.... you would expect a 6dB gain at ~1600W, not 6000W. 2) As for the RMS, as the name implies you need to look at the mean value. The test tone at 1400W is exactly what you need to test this as with music you are probably averaging less than 1/3 of that.
I'd really be curious to see you test the SoundQubed HDS3.2 12. I had 2 of the HDS3.1 12'S and they were VERY under rated, could handle wayyyyyy more than what they were rated for!
Hey would love to see a test on the Rovkville destroyer. Im thinking about getting one so an unbiased review would def help me out. Thanks for doin what you do man !!
Broke mine and on about 1600 watt RMS slowly over two-month period of time then switch to 3123rms clamped to try to kill it.almost 2yrs later still going strong.that 7k burst was cool.not bad for a cheap sub
Decent. I would change the terminals out. I do like the easy to buy re-cones. I didn't jump on one for the holiday sale. I will snatch one up if they re-stock up. I like testing these inexpensive SPL copycats. Gotta love these overseas build houses!
Love the way he test subs he test them like they are suppose to be tested with music not test tones at 5000 watts we know it's not going to last like that for over a minute or two great job on the test bro
i will say that i wished he used a better song with a more consistent bass note. like xlr, the song he plays with the slow changing bass notes. he would be able to keep it a lot more consistent that way
I might be a car audio snob, but after spending 10 years of so after high school working as a car stereo shop manager and installer starting in the mid 90’s, I had my hands on stuff from just about every amp and sub brand that was around after the 80’s, and it was usually super easy to tell which products or entire brands to completely avoid no matter how cheap. I’ve always maintained the rule that with car audio gear you get what you pay for. 5000 watt amps for 150.00 are crap if they even get close.
Same in the 80’s and 90’s if we needed 5k watt amp “good clean power” we was paying $1 a watt. I had 2 DD 18’s 9900 series, old school ones with 4 Memphis Mojos. I probably had $15k and that was on the cheap side being I worked at a shop/DD DEALER.
Rockville doesn't have weird ratings. You just have to know what the ratings mean. The 2800 is a number compared to a non cea rated BS company like Boss, Power Acoustic or Pyle. The CEA rating is for less than 1% distortion. Its comparable to Kicker, Alpine, Rockford, etc. Its a way of showing you a range of where the speaker can play. Thats why they rate their products like that.
I'm running a Punisher 15D1 on a Skar 1500 watt RMS amp, and it's handling it like a champ. No problem! Had to replace my rear window because it shattered lmao! I feel like this sub could probably handle 2,000 watts just fine, but nothing over.
I was thinking of getting 2 of these to replace my k9v215. Sub hasnt givin me any issue and for the price its all i can ask for regardless of all the drama behind that sub. Thanks for the vid
@@johndough4338 definitely. Even though audiopipe definitely has a better reputation than rockville im not disappointed with my k9 at all. Theres power handling difference between them so it just depends on what you want. Im running mine on the rxd m4 rockville amp and its been about a year now with no issues and i turn it up max alot lol
@@kiingmello ...I do understand the drama you referring to about the k9. But like some people said, they are a newer company that made a few mistakes in the beginning. As long as they made a effort to change & correct things, that's all that matters to me, and why I'm here asking you your opinion. And I really appreciate you getting back with me also. I'm not really a fan boy of any brand. I actually believe in follow the model number of something. For example, just because a 5 k sundown amp may be a great amp, doesn't mean the 6k version of that Same amp is going to have the same reliability as the previous model. I believe in following the model number of a product, and checking out the history and the reputation of it, and then see how it all end up.
Kenfolk you in the snow. No way the sub getting hot as it would down south. It's worth the 💰. It takes power, thats is all I care about. Good vid bro. MASSIVE MY FAV AND SUNDOWN.
I have the 12” 2 ohm version on the Rockville 8000 watt amp. I get a strange smell from them after a few minutes of play. It’s not a burning smell but more of a warm plastic or warm glue smell. I’m was told this was normal for new subs but wasn’t sure.
Review a sundown E series please. It’s budget friendly which fits your channel and always see these mentioned in thread recommendations but few reviews.
@Parker Dacchille Could you do the 150-199 comparison of this Rockville punisher vs other brands around 150-199 to see how Rockville stacks up against those priced subs
You should find one designated spot in the kick for those test. I have seen that meter all over the floor. Gonna get different readings that way. Like the videos keep up the good work.
I actually looked into buying 2 of these cause of the Punisher name. I’ve got a blacked out mountaineer with a punisher skull of the roof and thought they’d be cool to have. I have 2 Rockville amps and one was great the other was junk. They do honor their warranty well though. I blew an amp and they replaced it no questions asked.
As far as I have heard they are actually a very loud sub that puts in work and that's from people who actually ran them and proof is in the pudding......
@@ericweller4509 they sound fantastic, I'm running 4 off a Wolfram o 5000 not even pushing nearly the power cuz i need a couple of batteries, but my wife and son heard me from the middle of the parking lot to in mall. Nowhere near full tilt maybe 1/4 power of amp and only turned up to 13 out of 30 on volume
@@ericweller4509 I heard after running them for about a week straight at 75% it starts to sound like you are stepping on dry cereal or like pouring milk and two rice crispies they snap they crackle then they eventually pop LMFAO
Thinking about getting a pair of these. Still fairly new in this game, but im learning more every day. Im old school tho, (kid of the 80s-90s) so i was bliwn away when i got back in a couple years ago lol. Back then u had to know a guy, who knew someone that worked at the only stereo shop around. Got a kicker 15" cvr now but wanna get alot louder, and drive a sentra so dnt have much room
How come you don't test MMATS ?. They are the top notches. I got 2 mmat monster 12s that put out the sound of a 15 inch of a lower brand. I would not buy any other brand after all the dyno spl testing ive seen.
cool vids, been subbed. Sooo i can't help but feel like they rated it for Amp-Matching purposes for people that would buy a sub at this price. as in less electrical, maybe a 2800watt amp that does slightly less to the sub. on the other end, your amp and electrical allow you to whack it with a Full 3400 for how long, while expecting no smell. just my opinion.
I got 2 rockville punisher been beating for a couple months they do get smelly when they beat for hours but still sounding good I got them on a rockville 4000 w 1 ohm amp 1000 rms 2 both they seem to handle it ok
Just installed two 10s in a 1.6cube box tuned to 34hz and they're already hitting 118db on just 500watts or only 250 each sub. (break in wattage). I wasn't expecting them to slap on such a low wattage, hopefully they scream when I open them up 2-3k. Excellent budget sub at only $150 each
Please review a Fi sub.. they're inexpensive for the high quality due to the 1-2 month wait time. Heck maybe they'll send u a sub to test! (if u ask'em to)
I highly doubt they'll send him a sub to test. All of their subs are built-to-order. I run Fi and Synergy Audio. Before Covid, it took 2 weeks to get in my first 18. During Covid, it was 49 days. Definitely worth the wait.
@@ParkerTheBasshead so you know that cut out that Audiopipe sends you comes with the subwoofer? Would you say that those cutout dimensions are accurate?
Hi i was wondering about ported or a sealed box cause i have my 15D punisher in a sealed 1 1/2 inch thick sealed box.i was wondering if and how big to make the port it's for a single 15D punisher sub price $202 if you need the specks on the box it will have to be on another day.i hope to hear from about this
Harmony audio monoliths are beast great subs I had the 18s and want to put them in my new vehicle they are cheap and I put alot of rms to them and still hang no smell no noise need a big box though my audiopipe I put in a 5 foot cubic sounded good my harmony audio monolith 18 hit the bottom and needed more space but amazing subs
Thank y'all. In this day and age, I just figured that there had to be some info on these subs some where. I couldn't find shit. I found a few reviews but nothing substantial. I'm not the kinda guy who spends his hard earned money on things I know nothing about. Before I buy something, I wanna make sure it's what I'm looking for and it's worth my time and money. I'm not trying to win any comps. I just want nice, hard hitting, clean bass. I can't make up my mind on which sub I want. I have everything else. I just need the sub. I've narrowed it down to like, 5 subs. Seismic Audio 12", American Bass XR 12", Savard Hi Q 12", Resilient Sounds Gold 12" and the Harmony Audio Monolith12". I think I'm just gonna say fuck it, and pick out of a hat or some shit. Also, I'm just gonna start my own youtube channel and test everything, every which way I can. Thanks for the info y'all. Appreciate ya. Lemme know yallz opinions on the 5 subs I narrowed down to!! Also, I built a sealed box and the sub is seeing exactly 2.0 cubic feet. Well actually it's like 2.0134 but, close enough. I'm thinking about building a new box to maximize the SQ potential. Bandpass, ported, 4th order or 6th order. It don't matter. I can build anything. I just wanna know which one would be best???
Still love the look of that sundown x series though. My box is tuned to 32 also Always wondered how they would have worked out for me instead of my dual American Bass HD 12s which I absolutely love as well. Might have to try them out someday. #firstworldproblems lol.
I have a skar zvx v2 and a skar 1500.1, ran good as hell for a while but yesterday, i think it blew. I was very disappointed because its rated 3000w and that 1500.1 maxes out at like 1800 to 1900w. So now im surfing youtube for a better sub. Any suggestions?
I had 2 sony xplod 2 ohm 1100max 600rms mtx 4 channel road thunder .😆 visonk sealed box. Humble beginnings still impressed I had a wire hanger for the fuse 😆 sony single din im looking for something similar. These I might buy
If I were in the market for a 12 and was looking to spend about $150 I would at least consider this. Have you ever dealt with the Harmony Audio HA-C122? It looks interesting with decent sensitivity but I wasn't sure if it would hit the really deep stuff judging by its specs. Would love to see a review of it if you're ever looking for something different.
I like rockville..I got the 8" ghost spare tire sub..love it..but I don't push it to its limits either..I got it to save trunk space and to fill car factory speakers...2016 hond accord sport
How are you doing bro sorry to bother you thanks for all the great information I was wondering about the Rockville subs do you think it would be OK for a low power stock electrical system want some good sound we don’t want to spend a lot of money
I read that the g2 genesys and punisher is basically the same subwoofer. Built in the same place in china. But the punisher is half the price. Just some minor cosmetic differences.
That's exactly what it is, between 900 and 1200 watts, they should just advertise real numbers or a little under, 150 bucks us still a good deal for a 1000 watt amo with a 3 inch coil.
Hello! TY for ALL your videos! I saw this Budget Bass Basher on Amazonia and found your review by proxy. Thinking this would be a cheap way to show some kids around the block what an old school EarthQuake PHD5000W-grey can do when compared to a recent 5000w monoblock class D amp! The old school will definitely rule when hooked to my Phoenix Gold Alternator! Anyways, a better understanding of "Program" or "PGM" = We all have heard PGM described as follows: A speaker's "program" rating is the maximum amount of peak power it can safely handle in short bursts. It's almost always twice the "continuous" rating. For example, a speaker rated for 400 watts continuous power would be rated for 800 watts program power. Here is a better description to get better understanding: ☆The "program" rating is also known as the "music" power rating. It's a higher rating because music has many peaks and dips and is not as abusive as a continuous signal. ☆ ☆The ideal setup is where the amp's RMS rating is around the speaker's program rating. This lets the amp's peak wattage approach the peak wattage of the speaker when in the particular cabinet chosen. Program watt ratings are used heavily when setting up a P.A. rig, where musical peaks are prevalent and single test and competition tones are not used.....much. With a musical rating given Peavy suggests an amplifier that can achieve 65 to 85% of the PGM rating while keeping the amplifier channel gains at 2/3rds of the amp's maximum output giving your P.A. the cleanest sounding music reproduction but still giving your sound system the ability to peak terrific DB when needed 😉! Seems odd for a Car Audio company to include PGM ratings when looking at it from a competitive veiwpoint, but from a musically oriented standpoint PGM gives the user a better chance at reaching their audiophile-ish goals (even though I would never call a speaker with a sensitivity of 85 an audiophile quality speaker! l😂
Honestly im still running 4 12 in punishers with no issue's, but they're probably getting about 700 watts each. I am going to replace just because i originally just wanted to see if they failed as bad as the K9 series. Now i think im going to run either 4 crossfire 12s or ct sounds. They both offer a 12 in similar size as the punisher, so hopefully which ever i go with fits in the box ok
I would've really like to have been able to get two of the original Rockville K9 15" woofers, but I could never find any place that ever had them in stock, so I settled for four Sundown SA12-D2s and an Orion 3k SPLX HCCA amp and it really slams. I DO have one Rockville 4 ohm 15" woofer in my wife's car on my old Soundstream 5k watt Rubicon Nano amp and it sounds...well, it sounds terrible. I'm telling y'all, I love me some Orion audio hardware, but I also had a Sony Xplod 2500w amp on two JL Audio 15s in my Exploder, I had a Soundstream Reference 1000x4 on four of the round Kicker Solobaric 10s in my Integra, I had an US Amps 125x4 1/4 ohm stable amp on two Rockford Fosgate Punch HE2 12s in my 89 Beretta GT (3.1L V6 turbo/5 speed manual swap), and I had two Image Dynamics 1500 watt amps on two Image Dynamics 15" woofers in my 1976 Buick Skylark that got me suspended from school my senior year.
If u go look at g2 dynamics basket they use on genesys there sub has 24 or 28mm of xmax and that Rockville has the same basket so u nvr know the xmax could be in the 20s they have same spider size so who knows it flexes good tho
I like test like this. This is the way you should test subs. On music. I don't like the way they rate their subs but their cea rating is based on the power of the amp. 1400 watt rating will be a 1400 watt amp. And chances are it will never see that 1400 watts from a amp rated that much cause of impedance rise. I personally wouldn't buy Rockville subs but this model seems to be way better.
i have a pair Rockville 10" W10K9D2 on a Boss Chaos class D 3600 watt Monoblock wired to 0.5 Ohm and basically just about everything is about maxxed and the do great for what i thought was a very reasonable $ . I give them @ thumbs up . and as far as the speaker class as i can tell the 10" is better all around than 12 or 15.
Parker I have a ? I have 2 taramps MD3000.1 should I buy 2 of the 2ohm rockville punishers wired down to 1ohm an put one sub per amp or should I just go with 2 of the rockville punishers 1ohm subs wired down to half a ohm an put them on one of my taramps
which dual amp inputs do you use and are their studs long enough for Taramps or is the set screw halfway off the stud? THX! (I have 2 Taramps Bass 8Ks)
Program power is pretty much a max rating.. What it can handle in short bursts. Usually double of rms.. I don't know why they would put program and peak ratings on it.
