Joe’s solo and James Gang songs were the only times in the set list that Joe and the rest of the band was allowed to go off and jam, other than that Glenn believed people came to shows to hear the band be as faithful as possible to the album cuts on the Eagles songs which is totally fine, nothing wrong with a band being so tight and having their stuff so well mastered that they sound like the albums, but when it’s Joe Walsh’s turn for center stage, you let him go off and do whatever he wants!

@acday4679 Things would be crazy if he was dismissed instead of Don Felder. I know he replaced Bernie Leadon, but I always what would have happened if the roles switched with him joining the Eagles before Felder. Would that make a difference?
Joe Walsh was (and has been) an accomplished artist. When he see him singing and playing wih The Eagles it is obvious he could lead a show on his own, he joined the Eagles probably because he did not want to play alone, to perform alone.... but he could have done it any time. He was already a complete artist when he joined the Eagles... and he became a great Eagle. Love your music, Joe Walsh. :)

Is Joe Walsh the Forrest Gump of rock? Think of any historical band/event, and this man has managed to find his way into the story! This is a superb recording, and a gold standard of how a slide and talk box can be maximized. How is he not near the top of everyones list of greatest rock guitarist?
I don't know about Forest Gump (I remember the movie) but I agree with you. I've seen so many jam show videos with Joe Walsh jammin in the mix! But I have to also include the great Eric Clapton along with Joe! I've also seen him showin up jammin everywhere also! Joe Walsh brought the rock image and sound to the Eagles! Having Joe play his solo career and James Gang songs at these concerts brought in so many more fans to the Eagles.
If you want to know who to blame for why the Eagles eventually broke up just watch the faces of the band members during this song. --Glen Frey is loving every minute of this song--he is thrilled that someone else (Joe Walsh) is getting their jam on, and he's just jamming along. --Don Felder is loving every minute, basking in the talent of his fellow band members, and providing excellent, measured, and artistic background guitar. --Randy Meisner is plucking along, laying the bass groove in his own inimitable way, smiling and enjoying himself the entire time. --But Don Henley looks like he's having a root canal. You can literally see how it causes him not just mental and emotional stress that someone else is the feature for a few minutes, but is PHYSICALLY hurts him that he's not the center of attention. Henley was a narcissistic sociopath, and the reason this group went through so many staff changes over the years, and eventually broke up.
To be honest, he looks the same during Take it to the Limit from the same concert. He and Fry are both to blame, though. Both egotistical and unwilling to acknowledge the contributions of everyone else in the band.

I went to Woodmar Shopping mall which was also in Hammond, Indiana. I went into the restaurant, and there was an elderly Italian woman sitting in there. She looked at me and she said, "Do you think I'm funny looking." I actually started crying. I said, "no way I do not think that Lady." Like that! But, very quickly, she got up and left. Around a week later, I went to the Hammond Clinic with my late mother. Across from there, there was a restaurant. AMANDA'S. I went into the restaurant, but as soon as I entered, she ran up to me and she actually said, "NO JESUS! YOU ARE NOT WELCOME IN MY EDIFICE!" Like that! I was only 11 years old. I jumped back and I replied, "My name isn't Jesus. It's Tim." She YELLED! "GET OUT OF HERE!" Like that. Okay, let's do some evaluating, and JP really agreed too. Those crazy people are going to PICK ME, call me JESUS, HOOK ME ON DRUGS, AND TRY TO TURN ME INTO A HOMOSEXUAL SO THAT THEY CAN MURDER ME AND YELL, "BEHOLD GOD! YOUR SON! YOUR SON! YOUR SON!" They moved, and I never seen them again! It did happen right over on Hickory Street in Hammond, Indiana. ALL TRUE LISA!

My brother Art (rip) and I were at this very concert! I'll never forget it! Joe and the guys really rocked and brought down the house as they say! 😎 It just wasn't a Rocky Mountain Way song. The whole concert was a Get down, playin it Joe Walsh's bad a** concert Way! 🤯 I'm glad there's a video of the concert! It was for sure an out of this world show!
@@h.walker1332 I know what you mean. Those old arena concerts were the bomb! For some reason concerts nowadays sound so much different. (Volume & atmosphere) Durning those old concerts. I miss "feeling" the sound vibrate through my body while rockin to the show. Then leaving having my ears buzzing or ringing lol (who cared about ear protection back then?ha ha). Maybe it was the magic of the Capital Centre back then perhaps? I know if you would've been at the concert you would've had a killer time! At least if we can't time travel to those concerts, we still have You Tube to check em out and watch em! All's not lost if they've been recorded! Sorry to ramble on. I was there with ya. One of the finest concerts of all times. And the lead off band no one had heard of...Jimmy Buffett. Went with my brother and sister. An awesome night and ears are still ringing 😂
