Good test. A huge like and thanks. The crazy thing is people put those mics on DSLRs which have very bad amps, and results are really bad. In fact DSLRs even with such mics still emit more hiss than the built-in mics in our camcorders. I guess, I might produce and upload some content in the future (my channel is non-existent as of now). And it's hard to find reliable information since everyone just mounts their mics on DSLRs, which, of course, I'm not gonna do. I'm not gonna use my DSLR for video purposes (I don't like it in that capacity, and it's not even about the sound). Since results are bad on DSRLs people just go ahead and buy more expensive pro mics and XLRs adapters to combat the hiss or record audio separately and then sync. I don't like the idea of jumping through unnecessary hoops; I wanna cut and simplify post production wherever possible. The funniest thing I saw here on RU-vid is that some testers crank up audio (they don't know how to work with audio) levels way more than needed. In one instance, I even saw a test where the Sennheiser MKH 416 (it's very expensive) did very badly because of such misuse (too much audio gain). Again, thanks for an excellent test. Good content you are trying to create. I see too much junk on RU-vid nowadays. Bookmarking and subscribing, although I'm gonna browse/watch your videos only later on.
Thanks for the review. I've got the same combination (panasonic VX-F990 +Rode videoMic Pro). What do you think is the best setting (mic and audio of camera) to videotape a lecture by a speaker on a podium in front of you, when you are sitting 10-15 meters away, to get the clearest sound?
