these are the reviews that matter, people that pay for the stuff they review. not people that get a 5-10% cut for each they sell on their affiliate links. Earnt a sub
@TaskForceMediaGroup
@TaskForceMediaGroup 3 года назад
Amen! I try to just give honest information. I have been burned so many times when I just started out because I thought all the big review channels were 100% honest. The real eye opener for me was when I noticed many of these creators posted one video about a new product talking about how great it was, but then never used it again. Now I wait and see what those big channels put in their everyday workflows, because that's the stuff they really like. Often times it's not the items they are pushing you to buy thru their affiliate links.

@@TaskForceMediaGroup edelkrone sliders is a good example. all the "sponsored" reviews raving about it (even with shaky footage off close up sliding) then you check the genuine owners that paid for it all complaining on how crap it is. shaky, and if detected a new firmware update, it wont function until you download and install it. so if you're on low signal area and detects firmware, you have no slider...

@@cbflazaro that’s a great example. I can’t tell you how close I was to buying one of those. The only product from edelkrone I’ve seen them still using is the Head one and the Jib One, but none of them use the slider.

Good video. It sounds like a bad connection, not a bad wire as another commenter suggested. If it was a bad wire the sound would not remain after switching wires; though it can be a combination of the two. I have heard some variations in the audio of some other reviewers, but not all. It's possible that some units went out with bad ports from manufacturing. I see some people are defensive about your "negative comments" but there is no need for that people. Reviews like these are the only way companies like Rode find out about possible defects in their products. This You Tuber is looking for answers, not confrontation. Please fall back.

This sounds like the same interference I experienced with the original Rode Wireless Go when I used certain unshielded or poorly shielded external mics with the units. It was UNBELIEVEABLY frustrating that a $30 lav would make the noise, while a $9 headset mic didn't. I eventually upgraded to $100 Senal lav mics to solve the problem. But then I was just so disappointed with them that I sold 2 of the 3 sets I purchased for video production. They just weren't reliable enough for my uses. I discovered that it's the 2.4GHz frequency band that is prone to interference. I've since moved on to Sennheiser wireless packs and haven't looked back. I think the Wireless Go units are fine if you keep them close and use the right external mics with them, but the whole 2.4GHz trend in wireless audio just isn't good enough for anything more than vlogging or maybe RU-vid videos that aren't critical work.

yes, my copy has one built in mic way hotter the other (pad not engaged). My company flew me to LA for a shoot -i used it. with some azden mics (that worked fine in the past) I got interference -pops, - so I thought, 'internal recording' that should be free of interference - nope there as well. on the rode transmiter backup - Also latest firware installed and app crashes - tried over an over to get the files off the rode but they wont export - crash at about 5 mins of transfer. My unit also has really bad feedback when plugged into my zoom H 6 - using the suplplied 3.5 cable and a rode branded vxlr adapter.Because of this I recorded direct to camera even though I'll have to go back and remove the preamp noise in audition. I would not recommend these too good to be true novelties to anyone depending on them for professional work - glad I also boomed the audio as well - or I would have been screwed. maybe I have bad copies or this is some how user error - but not a great experiece relyining on them in a professional capacity for me either

Very interesting about that buzzing noise. I have that problem with the Comica wireless microphone system with dual transmitters. Sometimes the noise isn't so bad, but it mostly is. It is especially bad and unusable if using it with a Xoom recorder. I was hoping this new Rode system didn't do that.

I bought the Rode Wireless Go II thinking they would replace the Saramonic Blink 500 B2 that I had been using, and I have nothing bug MAJOR regrets. The Rode is shoddy, buggy, glitchy, and firmware updates either fix nothing, or fix one problem and introduce another. And the Rode Central app is absolute garbage. I have a VIP interview I cannot do again. The transmitted audio to my camera is unusable - hissy and voices go robotic from time to time. I'd love to use the backup audio stored on the two transmitters, but the sewage Rode calls Rode Central crashes EVERY time I try to export the files - and crashes at the same point in the export. I've tried three different Macs, a brand new Windows 12 PC, an iPad, and an iPhone, and the apps crash on all platforms when I try to export the files. If Rode cared about their customers, then the files would just be available to copy over via USB cable and a stupid proprietary app would not even be needed. I would have been better off using a shotgun mic on my camera. It would sound awful, but at least I would have audio.

Hey, just bought those same units for our productions. Not only do we get the same sound as yours, but the receiver's power button won't turn on the receiver anymore. Mics have several issues directly or indirectly related with it. I have bought at least seven sets of different mics for interviews and till now only Boya bluetooth mics have worked for me. Incidentally, I have had the same problem of buzzing sound when I attached Boya lapel mic to Zoom H1. I was told by my video editor that it could the interference of various computers and other electronic gadgets at site which can cause interference. Zoom H1 without the lapel mic gives absolutely great recording. After some tragic experience with sound recording in corporate interviews now I use two back ups in addition to the wifi mics (or is it Bluetooth?) with Zoom H1 and a Sony stand alone mics. My visuals are recorded perfect, but sound is always a gamble.

Just tested for you. It has nothing to do with the cable (s). It is the XYH6 module that is causing the malfunction. Version 1 of the Wireless Go also causes this interference. If you connect it via one of the XLR connections, it works fine. No difference between cables or version 1 and 2. It might be an impedance thing.

I have the same issue with that red cable. I have to use a much longer cable and place the receiver away from the recorder (Sony PCM D100 for me). I think it is radio interference from the Rx unit itself and that red cable works as an antenna picking it up. When you touch it you in practice ground the radio signal. This is my hypotese at least. However I hav much more serious problems with my set (actually two sets since I tried replacing my first one with buying a new one). Channels will from time to time fade. The internal recordings in the two Tx units are ok, but somewhere in the line from after the mic in the Tx to the TRS output of the Rx things happen. Not at all happy with my two sets. Neither with authorized Rode service partner who actually told me they are supposed to work like that 😵‍💫 Go figure!

I have a buzzing problem on the Rode Wireless GO 2. After updating and using with the original Rode Lavalier GO, a buzzing sound is heard. Pretty much. The interview of the director of a large plant failed, I will reshoot (. There is no such problem without lavaliers. Only with lavalier and only with the original rode lavalier go. This is not only in the camera but on the recording on the memory of the transmitter problem. There is no such problem if there is no Rode Lavalier GO, if used, only recording to the transmitter is used. There is no such problem with Lavalier Sennheiser ME-2 either! This appeared recently at the beginning of September 2022, after the update version 1.9, then 2.2.0 was also updated, the problem is not solved!

It seems like the original Rode Wireless GO that you are using to record this video also exhibits a buzzing noise (although it is a faint one). Sounds like a shielding issue with the connector wire, it goes away, actually, before you touch the cable it seems. I have an H5, but I can’t see any reason to use that instead of just running it into the camera jack. If you’re going to run into a Zoom recorder with XLR jacks, you might try using the XLR connector they offer instead of going to the 3.5mm mic jack. My guess is you’re getting electrical interference from the Zoom. I haven’t heard any of the reviews having a buzzing issue.

The Rode central app is buggy and is going to need to be updated ASAP. It is constantly crashing for me and I cannot export the uncompressed audio files which is probably the primary reason people are excited about this product and what's makes it somewhat unique in this now crowded wireless space. The buzzing you're hearing sounds like a bad cable or the wrong settings on your recorder or wrong input.
@TaskForceMediaGroup
@TaskForceMediaGroup 3 года назад
I agree the app is definitely more in a beta stage. I've had it crash constantly and it makes me less comfortable counting on the recordings on board the transmitters as a back up when doing paid work. The buzzing is definitely not a setting on my recorder. It only happens with the new wireless go II, and works fine with the original wireless go and all other devices.

I have windows 8 64 bit. Rode central will not install unless you have apple or windows 10 32bit or 64bit why? Most likely Rode didn't bother to pay Microsoft's licensing fees for compatibility with all windows versions. Rode emailed me to say that windows 8 64 bit doesn't meet their requirements? In other words officially Rode has "zero intention" to be responsible at accommodating their future potential customers who "dont" have Apple or windows 10. The reason why windows 10 works and not older windows operating systems is not what Rode responded in they're email to me that windows 8 doesn't meet they're requirements instead Microsoft historically offers the first several months of programs as well as operating system licensing fees as free thereafter companies are required to pay their share for the access to Microsofts products. Rode is either to short sighted to provide windows compatibility to all versions for it's potential customers or too cheap to pay Microsoft's licensing fees even though they're making millions of dollars in profit from this new Rode Go II product.

It's your Zoom that has the issue. Maybe due to not having the latest technology within the device that'll be compatible with today's technology. It's not the Rode,, maybe it's the cable that is not compatible with ur Zoom or just simplyuse Copper made cables.. This does not happen with smart phones and so forth. And your app probably crashes because you either have an older device or your phone is full in data / memory

@michaelrempel9025
@michaelrempel9025 3 года назад
That is RFI not grounding. You as a bag of water are making a shield with your body. Upload problems are similar to other reports which are probably related but could be fixed in software. The idiot programmer probably halts upload on total errors rather than the error rate. It is an old but recurring theme in audio. RFI means the cable is acting as a radio antena and picking up a radio source. A few times in my bad old days before XLRs I got actual radio station interference. That was pretty weird in a Church service. lol. RFI isnt fixable in a standard cable, you have to switch to XLR. And that means you need a different far more expensive solution. Some people claim to have shielded cable but that is marginal at best. If you know a pro installer ask them to make you a shielded version, but it wont work as well as XLR ever. Both your camera and your source need tp be made for XLR in order for it to work properly. Adapters are also vulnerable to noise. One more thought, try cables of different lengths. I always carry a few to trouble shoot with. RFI is frequency dependent, which is also wire length dependent. And get away from your source.
@michaelrempel9025
@michaelrempel9025 3 года назад
Rode if you are listening, mini XLRs should be your standard in future, with adapters to 3/8 included. Professional audio isnt just window dressing and marketing. But you do need to protect the consumer market too, For those who are curious, yes using that adapter will bring back the RFI problems for people who use them. I personally would buy the setup if it was offered that way. You might get away with consumer grade in a recording bag with other equipment, but out in the open with lots of WIFI on top of a camera this issue will do nothing but get worse as time goes.
