I am a working professional videographer/photographer who owns a small production company in North Georgia.
I provide honest unbiased camera gear reviews. My information is presented from the perspective of a person who actually spends their own money on the gear they talk about. I always try to present information in a simple way that's easy for anyone to understand.
I don't use affiliate links to try and get you to buy gear you don't need just so I can make money.
The only revenue receive is from people watching and engaging in my RU-vid videos.
If this kind of fair and honest information appeals to you, I'd ask that you consider subscribing to my channel.
How do they perform in shooting something other than the typical 'vlogger in front of the camera setting'? I do hiking videos and I don't know which one to choose for that; mostly landscape with someone walking at a fair distance from the camera.
The best explanation for Cine EI I've ever heard. And all under 5 minutes. Every 10-20 minute explanation I've heard only made it sound more confusing. When it's just as simple as adding light, or an ND filter, or even adjusting the aperture. You made it so clear, I didn't even have to write anything down.
Do you have a list of your gear or a breakdown video ? I currently use a Sony a7siii with a full Tilta cage and want to use a nitze stinger top handle with a nitze monitor mount can you recommend which models of those will fit suited to that Tilta cage ?
So I can throw on my tiffen glimmer glass 82mm on this 82mm ring that then connects to the matte box ? Great review my friend I’m definitely considering this and would love to see much more reviews from you
My man!! I echo everything everyone else said, clear and concise. My next question is this: why did sony put that EI mode for preview on the camera? What use cases do people use that?
So basically setting to CINE EI 800 - 12800 set the index at base iso so 800 and 12800 for low and high base and not touching it expose regardless the index ? Man it helps me a lot I'm French and even French RU-vidrs can't explain it the way you do thanks !
This man is a genius. I just got the FX30 and I know nothing about shooting with a camera. It’s exciting and scary and this good sir just gave me the information I’ve spent about 3months trying to understand. 😂
Just picked up an FX3. Been shooting analog and digital for a long time so this Cine EI function/feature is a bit confusing. I guess I should, whether in Cine EI or flexible ISO mode, just stick to 800 and 12,800 ISO for the cleanest quality. Unfortunately in low light scenarios I am seeing a bit of CMOS smearing. Obviously, the best thing to do is add light but sometimes it is impractical to add light when time is very limted or otherwise. Thanks for the clear explanation!
Rode has promoted the Wireless Go II for use on cameras. I have up today not seen a single camera with XLR inputs. However, in my experience a longer cable and putting the Rx unit away from the recorder has solved it in a way. The XLR Pro has a built in transformer, so it is isolating the Rx unit from your recorder. If this is a problem with the Wireless Go II Rx units, why did they not solve it inside the Rx unit? (rethorical question).
I have the same issue with that red cable. I have to use a much longer cable and place the receiver away from the recorder (Sony PCM D100 for me). I think it is radio interference from the Rx unit itself and that red cable works as an antenna picking it up. When you touch it you in practice ground the radio signal. This is my hypotese at least. However I hav much more serious problems with my set (actually two sets since I tried replacing my first one with buying a new one). Channels will from time to time fade. The internal recordings in the two Tx units are ok, but somewhere in the line from after the mic in the Tx to the TRS output of the Rx things happen. Not at all happy with my two sets. Neither with authorized Rode service partner who actually told me they are supposed to work like that 😵💫 Go figure!
“Is this good content..? Is this making you happy?..” Excellent. Presented a problem. Presented alternatives. Presented a solution. Thank you. Saved me money and satisfied a curiosity. Yes. Much better content than someone aimlessly ranting then pushing a semi sponsored product or bashing a product for shallow subjective reasons typically created by pilot/user error.
Best video about the BM a honest review. I like the BM from a filmmaker pov I’ve been using dslr type of cameras since 2010. Started with a cannon mark 2, but as a business owner that deals with companies marketing content the Sony A7III with the switch back from video and photos will help my crew. But I’m falling in love with the manual focus, the 6k and beautiful color. I wonder can you take a still while filming.
Thank you very much. Cine EI is completely new for me so I watched like 10 or more videos and I was still confused until I watched yours. Very well explained. Straight and simple!
love your videos man, legit the first video I have commented on in years. I love how you talk like a regular guy and even somethings when speaking you show the hesitation and though process when saying something, seems more humaan and conversational compared to some of these corporate seemings guys. keep it up man!
There are many reasons to get a matte box, just maybe not if you're a run and gun type film maker. A matte box allows you to use the same filters on any lens, rather than buying a set for each lens, or fiddling with screwing one large one onto step up rings which risks them binding. Also, many high end cine lenses won't accept screw on filters or they're +95mm. Sun shades, and reducing glare are other reasons. I ordered one of these to try out. I try not to use VND's... so I'm hoping their IRND's are useable. I'm not a snob about filters so long as they don't really mess up the image like your IR example.
