You are definitely making a good case for the rode. But I just bought my DJI. I think the biggest case, and what may make me purchase the rode as well is the auto syncing. Very thorough job on the comparison. But we come to expect that from you, as that is what normally is the case. Thank you.

Thank you so much for the comparison. I was not sure which one to pick. During years I used the Rode and recently the battery wasn't that efficient. I will buy the DJI now. The sound quality seems quite the same which is perfect as I liked the audio from Rode.

I'll let you know my thoughts shortly. Ordered the RWP this morning. I'm restarting my YT Channel and had issues with my SONY ECM-W2BT. Now I have to reshoot. Aghhhhhhh! 2 steps forward 1 step backward. Can't find it in Japan so had to order directly from RODE. Almost bought the DJI, but you know, I do that all the time... try to save some bucks, then end up kicking myself in the ass for not getting what I want and prefer. Well done!

My new DJI mics are intermittently working after only 1 month of use. I'm a huge DJI fan right now, but support has been a disaster. DJI has spent 4 days asking me if my mic is plugged in correctly. I get 4M views a month and each day I can't film costs me $2K. I believe the USB dongle is failing due to the stress of holding the receiver onto the Osmo 4 over time. I've had this issue before which caused me to abandon DJI and move back to RODE. I've only had one issue with RODE mics in the past, and it was a faulty power button. RODE sent me a new set of mics next day. DJI has spent 4 days asking me if my mic is plugged in correctly. Tough decision right? DJI is super efficient / convenient compared to RODE, but getting support is next to impossible. RODE is a little more involved to use but support will be there for you if you need them. Which would you chose?
Great and informative video, thank you! - But wouldn't it be possible to get a USB-C adapter from a third party for the Rode if you wanted to clip it onto your phone without a wire, or is there just no secure mounting point?
I ordered the DJI Mic2, and they accidentally shipped me the Rode Pro Wireless. I plan on bringing these with me backpacking with my daughter-basically these are for home videos I might upload to RU-vid. Should I keep the Rode Pro Wireless or send it back for the DJI Mic2? Side note: I have a Pocket 2 that I might upgrade later to a Pocket 3. I hear the Rode sounds better, but isn’t that something DJI can fix with a firmware update? I trust your judgment! What do you think?
Interesting! Both are great mics and you can’t fit wrong with either. But IMO Rode has overall better sound quality and is more trustworthy because they’re an audio company. It’s what they specialize in, whereas it’s a side endeavor for DJI. So I’d keep the Rode.
The rode pro sounds better. When using the rode wireless pro with a GoPro & media mod does all the sound download in the GoPro video or do you have to download sound file separate & link it into video via editing software? I use LumaFusion on an iPad Pro Thanks for the video
Is there a way to just buy one transmitter? having a Rode Wireless PRO would be great but I can't afford the pack and don't' need it. I would be just happy to have one transmitter and a lav and then upload the audio file to my computer later.

My plan was to actually purchase the DJI Mic, but now I got a coupon from my company for a website which would allow me to purchase the anker m650 for only 30 dollars. Unfortunately this website doesn't offer the DJI Mic. My question is, is the sound quality that different between this 2 mics and would it be recommended to get the Anker m650 for cheap or invest the 300 dollars in the dji mic?
could you use a 3.5 splitter allowing you to plug in two 3.5 wires and run them at the same time. for example allowing you to run a shotgun mic with one of the 3.5 plugs and then the other 3.5 going into the camera? would that work? my wife and I are trying to find a way to run a shotgun mic but also use the wireless mics when needed and not have to sync everything in post. hope that all makes sense.
I haven’t tried it, but I *think* you could do it - I don’t see why not. However, as someone who has messed around with splitters in the past with limited success, I’ll caution you that these mic systems aren’t really designed for that use and they are best used without splitters.
Dji already has the dji mic 2 with 32 bit but for some odd reason they have not released the mic for sale by its self, you get mic 2 when you buy the osmo. Dji is dumb 😂😂

Yes the dji mic 2 with 32 bit has been out but only comes with the osmo bundle they don’t have it for sale alone which is weird cause it’s been 4 months since they released the osmo with the mic 2. Many have asked dji when they will release the mic by its self and all they say is they have no informaiton, they are missing out on so many sales
it' s unfair to test the DJI with Rode lav mics! DJI radio mics are known to work well only with some type of lav mics, such as the Sure MVL, which you can buy for 65 € each. Moreover DJI radio mics are now sold at 249€, even on the DJI store. So I am not so sure the battle is over... Rode's biggest problem is the fact you cannot control them properly other than via the app. This is THE BIGGEST ISSUE for all the video makers working on location and not in a quiet studio. Finally, it is remarkable that both mics perform identical in terms of audio quality when you fairly compared them with the built in mic. I will stay with DJI!
Rode really needs to work on their form factor. Who has time for all the cable connections? Also, the ability to manipulate settings on the Reciever on the DJI Mic is clutch. I would however like for DJI to have an optional app w/ some of the auto gain assist features.
So I dont think anyone really cares about the new features of the Rode GO - the DJI Mic is a great product and has easy access to menu - I would lean towards DJI mic - BUT there has been a few issues with DJI mic that I dont like.... Firstly if your receiver gets within 1m of the transmitter then you hear an echo on the camera monitoring - it sounds like ur audio is terrible - but it is just an issue of the transmitter getting too close to the receiver and its not recorded to the camera just monitoring sounds echoey - this is super confusing as you should be hearing EXACTLY what ur recording - the other second issue is a few times I have heard break up sounds that was also just the monitoring - not on the recorded in camera audio - the third issue is that these DJI / Rode mics dont quite have the range of a Sennheiser G3 - they just dont - I had a person mic'd up in car in front - and I was traveling in car behind - and it just stops working - you wouldn't have that happen with a Sennheiser G3 - but for what they are (tiny 2 transmitters into a single duel channel receiver its quite impressive) Id be interested to see DJI fix the echo within 1m issue and have better quality monitoring on their next version of DJI mic
32 bit float and gain assist in the Rode are pretty big features. However, the DJI Mic 2 that comes with the Pocket 3 now has 32-bit float, so it seems very likely that a new DJI Mic system is on the horizon.
you are comparing two different generations ... why you didnt mentioned? Tricky... are you paid by Rode? this review is not fair, just good to tell people ... yes, Rode Pro is now finally good, but five years later. Rode just copied all good things from DJI mic and make it like Pro five years later. Btw in my country cost DJI mic almost half price now.
This is the latest DJI Mic *system* as of when this video was made and even today (December 2023). Currently, only the DJI Mic 2 transmitter is out, so it’s not a complete system that can be fairly reviewed/compared. When the entire DJI Mic 2 system comes out, the review will be updated.
I like the Rode's audio quality better. Portability wise and how it fits in my bag, the DJI is the more attractive form factor. But the value of having 2 wired lav mics is huge for the Wireless Pro.
Rode will scratch like hell and super fast, it will not retain its value because of that basically. IMO the stupidest idea is to not understand a simple thing: to not make glossy shell for such things. Immediately a red flag for me showing that their designer/developer team is not professional. Also this reviewer in particular feels fake/biased to me, she even holds DJI mic way closer to her mouth trying to show gains and how she blows into it. Asian kind of sketchy, which I am very familiar with :)
Great comparative video. Thanks so much. For me the easiest choice is this, Rode is an Audio/Mic company while DJI is a drone/camera company. Sound comparison was similar to my ear, although I was listening on and iPhone 14 Pro which would not be a good tonal analysis imo. Thanks again. I’m going with RODE WP2
I have the original Rode Wireless Go. It's great apart from the wind muff not staying attached. I use a Rode Lavalier Mic to compensate. Can you use the Rode Pro if you're a one person creator ? 👍😊🇮🇪🇺🇸
I think you've summed it all up, but as far as I know Rode is the best brand when it comes to voice and apart from that I find the sound of Wirless pro much clearer and better.
