i thought it was really weird on my rodecaster duo, i chose the re20 and the DB is at 51.. but when i speak its near the red... and thats with the windows microphone set at 80 out of 100.. i know thats not normal
@Sircence i had the rodecaster and it had amazing suppression however I kept hearing a hiss sound throughout the whole time it also couldn't be used for my guitar so I decided to get an rme interface and it's amazing best thing ever
Yes they are basically the same mics. RE27 is slightly better and the bigger brother of the RE20. You would use the RE20 settings for the RE27 as well. Don’t change anything they are perfect.
@dream-bits Omg. The amount of ignorance. The re27n/d is only more expensive due to the Neodymium magnet in the mic. That's gives it a brighter sound profile. Arguably, the RE20 is better because of its flat response and more natural sound.
Let's see now, the EV RE20 Microphone is $450. Sweetwater is selling it along with a Royer dBooster (phantom powered) which means the Gain from the EV needs, um, boosting! :) And the Rodecaster Pro 2 is $700! Heavens! Man, this is Cadillac style podcasting...oh ok Lexus style whereas a Toyota would get the job done! :)
To be fair you don't need the mic booster. But yeah, this is certainly "top tier" & "pro-grade". Just like anything else, it has to do with the context that you're actually using this for. If you're a travelling producer for a sports league, a setup like this is a no brainer. If you have a bedroom podcast, it's certainly overkill.
