Rodney was simply outstanding. Flawless delivery every time. This was a great show! I miss the good ole television days when you didn't mind staying up late to watch Johnny Carson because no matter who was on, you got some genuine laughs that made your tough day at work a bit easier. Rest in Peace! Rodney, Suzanne, Ed, and Johnny.
@Shane Hawkins it's weird how you can tell how much more famous he's become. He's still the same Graham. But the level of celebrity guests has definitely increased over the years.
We saw Rodney at his club, Dangerfield's, NY city and they put us in the front row, right in front of the stage. No reservations, I called after we arrived at our hotel. My husband was crying, he was laughing so hard. Then a guy bumped into my husband, "excuse me, excuse me" and it was Robin Williams popping in. Robin then did a show. It was unbelievable!
I used to live in Miami Beach for a couple of years and worked as a bellman in a hotel there. We checked Rodney into the hotel and he was cracking everyone up at the front desk. Great guy. Good tipper, too! R.I.P. Rodney. :-(
Man I miss this guy so much. He could make me laugh out loud every single time. This clip is made even better with the late Suzanne Pleshette with her great laugh in the background sitting on the couch.
+Shane Anthony I sure miss Suzanne and her laughing, too! And I really fell in love with her in the 1969 film, "If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium".
+Ganesh K You got that right!! They just sparkled together on the screen and though the ending was not the 'happiy ever after' that we would have wanted, it was VERY true to life!!! And the rest of the cast were great and wow, all those cameos!! Hollywood will never make movies like that again and that is sad! And yes, it is one of my all-time favorite movies, too, and so glad that I saw it on the big screen in 1969.
My Sister ,Brother and I were on this Show !.........well in the Audience !.. While our Parents were watching Redd Foxx In the NBC Studios. in the 1970s !!
If there’s one thing I remember about Johnny Carson it’s his Clothes. He always had the most impressive suits on night after night. This one in this show was just simply sharp as can be.
At my age, 75, I've seen a lot of talented comedians, but Rodney gets top billing. He guaranteed numerous LOL moments every time he performed. And, in fact, squeezed so many laughs into his performance, you could watch the performance all over again and still LOL numerous times. His timing was so great, I'd laugh out loud even knowing the punch line in advance. What a talent!
This was when television WAS television. Wholesome viewing with a message. I miss these old programs SO much, I don't even look at TV today... unless it's a hockey game.
I saw him in Houston live once, and honestly - I have never, ever laughed so hard in my life. Everyone came out of there with their stomachs literally hurting. I mean you just could not catch your breath! He timed it so that ... hell, it was pure genius. One of the funniest men ever. Boy, I miss Rodney.
@@georgemurphy2579 I like Cordon, but Fallon is a whiny ass, squeals everytime Robert shows an animal, a 40ish grown man squeezing and running from an animal while a 14yo boy calmly pets, holds, or chases it while telling all about it with great enthusiasm.
Yes you can! I was lucky enough to be a young kid when he started and was on Johnny all the time. Been in love with him ever since! Rodney Rules! One of my faves-I was crossing the street today and got hit by a car. I said to the guy, "hey, what are you BLIND!" He said, " I HIT you didn't I!?" lol
7:25 Usually Jonny can hold his laugh but Rodney caught him with that ‘boy big in 2’ joke. Wet myself laughing!!! Every time I see the dynamics between these two brings so much joy. Jonnys wink at Dangerfield at the end signifies so much.
I f you haven't already pull up Richard Pryor with Carson, Tim Conway is the guest. Almost at the end Pryor tells the Chinese stutterer joke and Johnny almost lost it. Classic.
I'm a 25y from Belgium in Europe, born in 1994, and hate those wannabe comedians of today. I love watching RU-vid videos of Rodney and Don Rickles. I'm not even an American nor old enough to even witnessed these great guys. I wish I was born in the 60's or something to have witnessed these legends in the flesh. Carson, Dangerfield, Martin, Rickles, Sinatra,... God bless RU-vid!!
Now there are 3,069 thumbs up and 122 thumbs down. Now who on earth would vote thumbs down? You really have to be warped to make the effort to vote thumbs down.
I think Rodney and Don Rickles are two of the quickest comedians ever. Rodney is still my all-time favorite. He was completely original. The clothes, the movements, everything was just perfect.
Two of the best ever! I love Rodney's stand up which is only matched by his sit down :) Rodney was so great and Johnny is always there to highlight the talent of his guest. Perfect timing and and comedy at it's finest!
These are two legendary guys. Johnny was the master of late night talk. No one will ever come close. Rodney is being Rodney. Another great comedian and proof that you could do adult humor without needing to lace it with profanity.
RD is the master of the spontaneous one liner. Geez how does he do that? so quick, so funny. I mean i laughed my ass off with "my dog taught my wife to roll over and play dead..." Lol x3
RD - The best at one liners, joke after joke, just incredible. Also to hear Suzanne laughing in the background. Thanks for posting this, it made my day and then some !
Dangerfield was just a natural born comedian with incredible timing and ridiculously funny punches. The fact that his interviews were like running jokes was genius LMBO!
Rodney Dangerfield was just to awesome funny. He's like the wise guy of comedy..My favorite joke was MY WIFE's a water SIGHN..IM AN EARTH SIGHN..together WE MAKE MUDD!!.. Or ..What do you get if you divide the circumference of a pumpkin by its diameter? Pumpkin pi... He's a legend..because he told 325 jokes in one hour! I don't think any comedian can measure up to his master level.
Rodney was the man, he could relate to the average Joe who just can't catch a break, we miss him, a true comedian in the vaudeville sense of the word !
+Bob Sewvello - Many, many people have said how generous he was to work with. And I believe it. He let the pros do their thing, and as a result, his show was at the top for many many years. Johnny was a great comedian himself, so it awesome to watch him feed into a real pro like Rodney. Carson was a class act. Unless you somehow pizzed him off lol, so I hear. Damn I miss those days.
Rodney may look uncomfortable but the way he do the one liner is just unreal . I just happen to come across this guy never heard of him he is awesome is he still around today.
Thanks for putting this up, this is a gem of a video great quality too! Awesome! Loved Rodney and his movies were great! My Favorites "Back to School" , "Easy Money" and "Caddyshack".
Rodney Dangerfield will go down in history as one of the greatest comedians of all time, joining a very elite group indeed, and well deserved. I only hope that future generations will come to know his comedic brilliance that will bring joy and laughter into their lives as well.
