Rodolfo Martinez bounces back from a hard-fought decison loss to the brilliant Rafael Herrera to brush aside journeyman Jose Luis Meza. That is not meant as a slight either; Meza was toughly matched before and after, was coming off a win over past prime (but forever dangerous) Joe Medel and had stopped future bantamweight champion Enrique Pinder in 3 rounds! He wasn't a top level talent at the time, but that's because the depth of talent 9 stone in below in Mexico at the time was immeasurable, not because he wasn't any good at all. Bear in mind he later when the 10 round distance with 'Bazooka' Limon.
To the uninitiated, Martinez can be described simply as the Jhonny Gonzalez of his day. He could be badly hurt and dropped but had thunderous shots of his own, and some culture to his work. A simple comparison to give a general idea of what to expect, by no means a definitive match, but if you like Gonzalez you'll likely enjoy Rodolfo Martinez too. His fights with Beaver Kajimoto and Carlos Zarate are both on youtube and both highly recommended viewing.
