It’s actually very simple. The ruling said that the decision is not up to the federal government to make but rather the states. Because it is not a power listed in the federal Constitution, Congress cannot pass any laws about it, leaving it to each state legislature instead. I’m not sure why everyone has such a hard time grasping this simple concept. I think the scarier issue is that too many people don’t take the time to learn how our Republic works.
I find it annoying that people care so much about a child being aborted, but not after they are born. The people make things destructive. The people who smoke kill everyone around them, giving their family members secondary lung disease, heart problems and congenital disorders. Smoking leads to more than 480,000 deaths in men and more than 201,000 deaths in women annually. This also includes the deaths of people from secondhand smoke. Excessive drinking leads to drink driving and car crashes, leading in thousands of deaths per year. Just over 13,000 deaths in 2021 alone. And do I have to explain how bad gun violence is here?

Supreme Court cases can always be overturned, as we saw in this instance. The Federal government needs to grow some balls and actually pass a federal law or try to pass a constitutional amendment instead of relying on the Supreme Court to do their dirty work for them.
federal law is as weak as roe v wade, a SC ruling would take it away. amending the constitution is the only way to guarantee a right is protected, and even then if the SC has a "state interest" precedent they can violate your rights like with 2A, luckily with NYSRPA v Bruen has put us under a "text, history, tradition" precedent which means even if the state has an interest in violating your rights, they can't unless the limitation of the right is found in the text, history, or tradition of the constitution.

Don't tell comedy? Is it because you can't tell if it is comedy? Abortion is criminal in Lebanon unless mothers life is at risk since 1943. Google a bit. Pro choice here btw.
Ummm... Isn't abortion completely illegal in Lebanon, with jail time for both the mother and the abortionist, with the exception of direct threat to the mother's life?
I was yesterday’s years old when I learned that the USA allows minors to marry if parents are ok with it, in most states. That country is just inspiring hell to improve because soon it won’t keep up >
I really wish I could explain to all of you that When you live in a country you get used to that quality of life, so you assume every where else is similar. When you hear something about a foreign country you don’t like you immediately assume it is worse. I have family in Israel who said that America is unsafe… they don’t realize I can just walk around at night
I was changing a lightbulb when i heard the news rvw was overturned, and let me tell you, i do not advise triggering a dissociative episode while precariously balancing on a tall stool holding glass
@@asherbdavisWhy do people like you online feel the need to be rude, as well as ignorant? The premise of the joke is Lebanese people finding American abortion laws to be oppressive in comparison with their laws. However, abortion laws are far stricter in Lebanon than here.
Yeah, but abortion has been illegal in Lebanon for years. I agree that the overturned law here is egregious, but using Lebanon to set up that joke made it miss the mark for me. It makes it seem as though Lebanon, for all of its human rights violations, at least got it right on the abortion front. But they didn’t. So I don’t believe her setup story, and I’m willing to bet she didn’t know abortion was illegal in Lebanon when she wrote that joke.
She didn't mention that abortion is illegal in Lebanon (as in almost every Muslim nation) except for instances where the doctor agrees that the mothers life is likely to be lost at birth. You can be imprisoned for 3 years for abortion in Lebanon. In other Muslim nations, you WILL be subject to capital punishment for abortion.
Yeah, see, that‘s the thing: people in the neocolonial world don‘t generally think „we don‘t have food or running water, so no one else should have nice stuff“. Only conservatives think that, and only conservatives think that everyone else thinks this way.
