I went with the HandheldDIY hall sticks they sell that are intended for the Legion. They're the stiffer model sticks. At first I was having a heck of a time getting the one stick to calibrate correctly due to interference caused by the magnet on the trigger nearest to that stick. It absolutely refused to go all the way to the one side and it would wander when you actuated the trigger. Fortunately, it went away after I put some magnetic shielding tape on the joystick board. It's still not 100% perfect, but only by a touch. Other than that, I love those stick. That extra oomph from the stiffer centering spring is really nice.
Now for the og ally and the legion go I have separate tips for those for calibration. If your using the og ally and Hall effect sticks you’ll want to add a little anti dead zone 2-5% or so and then add a little dead zone as welll and then you’ll have that dead zone issue perfect. The instructions I shared here on this video may help but it’s mostly for the ally x but definitely wouldn’t hurt to try any of those and lmk if it helps. I have the handheld diy hall sticks but I don’t use them because of said issues. I did a video talking about them and also the springs I took out the hhdiy sticks and put them in my stock unit on the og ally and it works great
@@cppctek Actually, swapping out the springs and putting the heavy ones in the stock Ally sticks is a pretty cool idea that never crossed my mind. Thanks for that.
Good afternoon, first of all I would like to apologize for the translation made by Google because I am Brazilian and I do not speak English fluently. I also want to say that I have followed and admired your work since you purchased the Asus Rog Ally, which made me purchase one. Thank you very much! Well, to be brief, I wanted to make an appeal to you. I would really like to do the DPAD replacement mod on the White Ally. I have watched the same video several times where you show the tutorial on how to do it, but I am a bit of a layman in this subject so I feel a little insecure in two parts of the video. The first is when you remove the two fans from the cooling tube. Could you help me, please? I am afraid of denting the cooling tube when removing the fans because they are so delicate and thin. Will the fans come out easily when removing all the fittings and screws or are they well fixed to the cooling tube to the point of having some physical resistance when trying to separate them? In one of your future videos, would it be possible to show how to do it in more detail? (Don't worry, I won't go around telling lies like I did with another subscriber you mentioned in the video). The second concern is about the ball that is glued to the motherboard with tape. Can I use 2mm 3m tape? Isn't there a risk that the tape will melt due to the internal heat of the device? Can I glue the ball with instant glue directly to the other part of the Mod where the 4 magnets are, or is that a bad idea? If you're going to do this mod again on another device, would you be able to record the ball part of the DPAD, please? I appreciate any information and thank you for bringing such unique content. And lastly, a mod was released on the same 3D printing website where it is possible to use the Analogs of the Elite 2 controller on the Rog Ally. It would be very interesting if you demonstrated it in a video for us. Thanks for the excellent work!
Dm me on discord and I can answer a lot of these in detail in a video. It’s hard for me to type out that much so I do better with my words. I’ll happily make a video and dm you a reply answering the questions.
Thanks bro. I am I’m just waiting on a good deal on a battery or if someone wants to donate one to the channel or send one over to be modded. I’ll gladly do it lol. I just don’t have the 100$ allocated to cough up for a spare battery. You have to cut and solder a little and it won’t be able to be readily and safely able to go back into an x without reverting all the work back. I just am super hesitant about using the battery out of my x to use on the og since I rarely use the og anymore since owning the x. I use the x daily so it would be tough.
Hey bro, question regarding the stock joysticks: Is it normal that they can actually be pulled up away from the board? Cause I just got some joystick protectors but they're a tight fit and they push up on the sticks. Wanna know if it's safe to continue using them
Dont have Rog Ally X, but do have any link to good clear replacement joysticks that fit original Rog Ally. My joysticks grips popped off the joystick. Any help would be helpful

I'm getting some clicking or crunching noise from top or back of my ally x, don't know if debris got in there or if its a fan noise, can I take the back off and cover a sensor and get it to boot up , so I can tip it and see if something falls out
Interesting. Can you record the sound and dm into me on discord ? I’ve seen someone take The backplate off while it’s powered on, totally wouldn’t advise doing that tho lol. But if you are extremely extremely careful it can be done like that. Just be careful with the ribbon cable attached to the backplate

Just watching this, my right trigger when I calibrate and push the trigger down all the way, it bounces a bit on the screen but if I then push it harder it will stabilise. Is this an issue ? Been like this from new
When you hit calibrate don’t press it to hard. Just press it till it barely taps the end. If you force it or press to hard during the calibration process it will do that. Also be sure to reset to factory defaults in that calibration menu and try again.
Hey, I just swapped my right stick board because the stick itself felt a bit wobbly. The problem is that when I actually installed the new one and was calibrating it, it was way too off and could not reach the outer limit of the circle. I had to push it very hard in order to calibrate them and still could not reach the outer edge. I solved lowering the threshold but i still think that this behaviour from a new board is not right. What do you think about it? Ps. Sorry for my English
@cppctek thank you for your quick answer. Did you swap the control board entirely? How did you fix yours? Meanwhile i ordered new stick caps in order to try with the first board that did not give me this problem. I think that the wobbly stick was the cap too loose on the stick itself.
@@cppctek thanks again, i'll watch it soon and update you under this comment when I receive the new caps and test them with both boards. Keep up the good work you are doing!!
For sure. Check my first video on the matter. I actually have two but here’s another ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-u8Rje88XnVA.htmlsi=qYe_QmzA4-5pzxWV
Easy fix from what people have said. They used the same keyboard lube I used in the squeaky trigger video and they used the little paint brush it comes with and ran it around the edges of the d pad and the housing and worked it untill it stopped squeaking.
