The steam deck actually has the best build quality as the major mother and daughterboards are in a Magnesium Alloy housing. The rest handhelds are just plastic.
No matter improvements/benefits of the other devices just can’t give up the big screen of the Legion go. So hard to go back to other devices and not feel like the screen is just so tiny.
@@Apinp18 TBH, spent more time to set and install everything so far (incl emulation)... But did test a few things... like Cyberpunk, Ghost of Tsushima, balatro, Prince of Persia...
Thank you for this very detailed video. It is very informative. Since you are asking about suggestions, one thing, if it is not too much to ask, is to have some infographics when talking about FPS or battery time displayed . I had to reverse video several time as my brain was simply not catching the values you were saying for the FPS. If it was written, it would be better experience. All best and keep up the good work.
You are by far the most relaxing reviewer/content creator. Keep it like thaty friend, it makes you unique in an un-unique world. Awesome video. It's the the steam deck oled for me. I can't go back to LCD or IPS panels, I just can't.
Great work putting this video together. Tons of useful info. I was expecting about 4FPS difference between Ally and Ally-X in Turbo mode but wasn't expecting to see the bigger delta in Performance mode.

its only because is has a bad audio effect enabled by default, for anyone wondering go to settings - system - sound - speakers - scroll down and turn audio enhancements off, and its fixed, night and day difference
@@MichaelLochowitz I own the Legion go and i will admit that the speakers are not great but with the EQ tweaks the speakers become acceptable........I would sack the guy who green lighted these speakers!
@@bigtrousers4287 the speakers are fine guys actually kinda decent for a device like this, the whole issue is the system audio enhancements that are set to on by default with the device, remove any EQ tweaks you have done and follow instructions in my previous comment, and I promise you you’ll realise there isn’t an issue with the speakers it’s honestly just that setting
Wow, not kidding when you said Legion Go's speakers were trash! I've settled onto the SD Oled thanks to your videos, but I'll be watching how this market evolved!
The Legion GO speakers are actually quite good (I'd say 7/10 or even 8/10) AFTER you change the default equalizer setting in Windows in Realtek Audio Controller from "Powerful" to "Club". That Powerful setting is a joke and totally ruins the sound with literally no bass. That one simple change makes the Legion GO's speakers good after that (although still not as good as SD or Ally which have exceptional sound). 👍 Whoever decided to put Powerful EQ setting as default on Legion GO is like a saboteur at the company hahaha.
First video I came across talking about specs/battery life since today is launch day, good stuff! I’ve been considering getting this or just getting a console as my next gaming device, my gaming Desktop is at the end of its life and I have no desire to sit at a desk at night anymore because I sit at one at work all day. Looking forward to seeing some other short/long term reviews after some use to see how they hold up before I make the jump.
Amazing video thanks👏 I also have to thank you a lot for your Bazzite/Windows Dualbooting video for the Ally and Legion Go. It was so good and clear. Having bazzite as an alternative to Windows has been so refreshing. It really gave my handhelds a new life.
Thanks for the time on this video man really appreciate it a lot I found you randomly while I was looking at steam deck or equivalent types of consoles to buy keep up the good work man . To improve I would say include a summary sheet at the end of the video to include the overall differences in all the tests between the consoles. Beside that great video
The Legion Go is a perfect emulation device for me. It performs great at 2k on almost all systems, excluding some newer ones. Playing BotW at 2560x1440 with graphics packs is amazing! Also, I'd like to mention that the custom TDP slider on the Legion Go does in fact work after a BIOS update a few months ago.
It does work, I confirm, not sure what he's talking about there or what settings he used in the video. I own both the Go and the Ally and they perform roughly the same (give or take).
Much better review than the well known big channels that dont share real data, only vague talk. Awesome video. This comment specially for the algoritme of yoitube.
Good job the best video on the internet about the ally x so far

I own the SD Oled and the Legion Go. I love the Legion Go, it's a beast. Unfortunately it's a beast to hold, so uncomfortable, so I often use my SD Oled instead. I whish i could just put the Z1 Extreme into the SD Oled, that would be the perfect handheld for me.
What a great video. Just one small suggestion. If you do FPS benchmarks it would be very nice to have some kind of grafic to see each avg. FPS in different bars or something like that. Keep up your great work!
Dude thanks a lot! Yeah you’re right about that. I need to find a preset or something cuz I was trying and it took so long and i wanted to get it up before embargo
Such a great video! After I watched this video, I planned to buy the Ally X when it comes out globally. I'm in the SEA region, and it's going to be my first handheld. Thanks
Great video Cyber, love your content. Only thing I will say about battery test is that SD OLED was churning out an additional 15 FPS at it's TDP with basically a locked 60. If you did a 45 FPS Lock I reckon they would be on par for battery times as well as performance. But still even at that the new battery in the Ally X can only mean good things going forward for more handhelds :) keep up the great work!
The amount of effort that goes into these videos is amazing. Only thing I'd like is chapter markers for the video so I can jump around. Been looking forward to this vid for a while, thanks CD!
honestly I see a young Marques Brownlee in you. your content is crazy amazing. one thing I would say is you could have had infographics in places to compare final results in bar charts or just write them down to compare. like the battery test. would have been nice to have a summary of the results so we can see at a glance and not have to see it all. I would look into Marques Brownlee old videos and see how he got better. and emulate him. use him as a role model. you have potential to have million subscribers easily. stunning work!
Thank you. Enjoyed watching everybodys vids on these. Getting back into proper gaming after 5 year break. Started with gameboy as a kid as an adult moved to playstation. That broke 5 years ago and have only played ipad games since. Love the handheld units as I can let family use every other screen which keeps them occupied. Oh we have an oculus quest but but standing up with that on your head is not relaxing. So after probably more than 40 hours of discoving whats out there true youtube. The fan niose was the one that swayed be from legion go, plus the 1tb memory price difference. So sacrificing some games on the oled steam deck for fan niose and more affordable memory. And happy to do so. This vid was the best cheers.
suggestion for the performance test part - put up a chart instead so we viewers can see it clearer. i've watched a few of your other videos. loved the reviews 👍
i like ur videos bro, maybe in the performancetest, tag a single "Steam Deck, Rog Ally/X, legion" ect in the corner of each video comparison, cheers m8
Hey man thanks for the vigorous tests. In addition to my L GO I'm tempted to grab an SD oled or ally x just for that battery life, portability and the speakers. They are all cool devices it's hard to go wrong really. I think probably only the original Ally is the one to avoid.
Just got my Ally X yesterday and absolutely love over the OG model. I know it’s not an upgrade in the literal sense. But all of the changes in battery wise, Dual usb C ports, more and faster ram adds up to a much better device. It’s basically the device they should’ve released in the first place. But either way I’m loving it.
Well done sir. 1st video I watched from you and I don't comment. Great stuff and kept it up. You can definitely go big with the research but more importantly, the personality fits. Bravo 👏
Awesome video, a lot of the videos with these comparisons didn’t answer questions or show a good comparison but you did! Since you asked, when you do the comparisons of FPS and settings show on the split screen the fps written, essentially how you did it with the battery timer. Other than that great stuff.
I own a Lenovo legion go and mine sounds a lot better, i would have returned mine if it sounded like that. how to improve Lenovo Legion Go speakers using built in music equalizer ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SJvyjqnDSj8.htmlsi=RhsJdLyRHvGWoNPV
Thank you this was really amazing and thank you for actually showing the full scale test as opposed to just throwing numbers up. Steam deck Oled is really fighting against the ally x. The downfall I believe we be the lack of availability of the steam deck as opposed to windows based handhelds where you can easily grab one from your nearest Best Buy or something.
It does have performance benefits in 1% lows and in high TDP circumstances (15w and above). It can have up to 10% faster performance in those high TDP areas
Great video mate just the other day i was wondering which is the best is it the steam deck oled ir the ally x by the way you should put more far your camera when all the consoles are together 😅
How about just adding the final fps and results on screen over the image of each console? Thats a small improvement you could do. Your stuff is real good man. Real chill
Very informative comparison video. I'm definitely considering the Ally X now. You think it can be a legit workstation replacement for basic word processing and image editing?
Heya, thanks for the overview, ally X looks like a damn beast, and apparently bazzite is gonna be fully working on it soon so looking forward to that. As for improvements, when ever you're talking numbers, it's best to have them overlayed on the screen as you talk about then. When you were doing the FPS comparison between the four devices, it was difficult to keep track of the FPS numbers since you're comparing 4 devices on different settings, on different games, so a text overlay or side-display would have been good there. Aside from that, keep up the awesome work!
To improve Legion GO performance, possibly by a lot (especially I'm guessing in power saving mode), it's important to change the "UMA frame buffer size" in the BIOS. This is the amount of VRAM you allocate to the Legion GO's GPU, from the shared 16 GB of RAM between the CPU and GPU. For some reason, for me by default it only had 3 GB of VRAM which is tiny... I recommend changing this to 6 GB, then the rest of the system still has 10 GB of RAM for the CPU. To enter the BIOS, you hold the Volume UP button while powering on the Legion GO. Cheers
really nice review.. was going to buy legion go, but the speakers make me think twice. anyway, can we play while we charge on steam deck ? just like we play on laptop .
Great video! Would love to see some text/names of each device when comparing them side by side (performance tests and battery life), as it's hard to tell which is which sometimes.
Great job, man. I'm still thinking about which device I will buy, but it seems like I have to pick the Asus X despite the high price here in Australia. 1600 aud is just way over my comfort zone
thank you for your entertaining videos, i learned a lot, actually the timing of this video was great i was thinking of getting the GO but I'm glad i saw this first before i got the GO. Now its ether the X or the OLED.
The Ally would be a great pick if you could count on Asus to support their products. Unfortunately my experience with them when it comes to laptops has been terrible. Getting them to acknowledge and repair an issue is like pulling teeth. The last time I dealt with them it took 6 weeks to get a laptop repair done.
Dude great review! Really want to get my hands on the ally x. Very informative for guys like me who's planning to buy a handheld. I'm loving the performance, build quality, and especially battery life, asus definitely nailed it on this one.
Damn I think I got the best legion go ever made, my speakers sound pretty good and I'm able to listen to music comfortably on it, and my fan noise sounds nothing like you showed in the video even at full speed, its relatively quiet and still does a good job of cooling my unit. It might be that you got an early unit, but I just bought my legion about two weeks ago and am loving it even more than my steamdeck OLED which im in the process of selling as I don't use it anymore. Awesome review, cant wait for my ally x to arrive!
I own the Go and he's wrong in fact, except for the speakers I cant confirm what he says. It runs cool and just like the original Ally, the battery also lasts a lot longer.
