@@SamS-ef5ez I have a Gamesir T4 Kaleid. It’s wired so you pay a bit more for a built in battery. It has satisfying clicky face buttons and two back grip buttons too.
$160 for a controller without hall sticks in 2023? Bold choice ASUS... Last week I bought a Mobapad M9 for literally half that with hall sticks, hall triggers, and mechanical buttons.
I'm looking at the Mobapad M9, and wow only $73 on Amazon. UPDATE: ok got the M9-HD and it's a switch controller, a very nice switch controller but thats it. It says it works in Windows but it's a pain in the a$$ to do any configurations with it and remapping can only be done with a phone/tablet - wtf? You can remap the ABXY buttons but all the others cannot be configured to operate command center or anything. too bad Im returning it today. Just was to much hastle to deal with
160$?! That's just ridiculous, especially without hall effect sticks and triggers. That pointless screen is certainly not adding anything of value. But speaking of controllers - 8bitdo has announced an neo geo style controller, that could be interesting for a fighting game fan like yourself (even though the Neo Geo fighters were usually 4 button fighters, not 6 like SF if I recall correctly)
@@Joeybatz33 I mean obviously you don't need two expensive controllers, but if you plan on getting the Elite series controller you may as well buy this one
@@CJTheTokay Well except that has different thumsticks, tensioner, swappable back paddles, D-pad, this one has a usless goddamn screen and ROG Branding.
For me this controller would only be justifiable if you could have full control of armory crate and comand center (like the controller on the Ally). If it would have a shortcut for opening comand center and armory crate only then it would make sense to enter in a ally ecosystem.
@@WillySouthis controller is integrated with the ally software, armoury crate SE. So you can just plug the controller in and go to connected devices and fiddle with it there
I just bought this controller to use on my Xbox, I was a little worried about it. But your video, helped explain all the things I was curious about. Thank you so much. Yes there's no hall effect, but with a few add one. The sticks will last. And the warranty will last until the next version comes out 😂
Having used the original Snes contorller for years back in the day. I've always had issues with other D-pads and is the only thing I really look closely at with other controllers. Even if the rest of the controller is amazing the D-pad can be a deal breaker.
Man I was so excited for this controller. But it doesn't have hall effect. I'm basically just always using my King Kong pro 2.. That hall effect precision. On and/or for PC. Chef's kiss. You might say I'm a controller connoisseur. And I'm a proponent for Asus. So you would think it's a match made in heaven.! But I think ASUS was just phoning this one in.! They were like. " Oh yeah we'll put an LED's and a OLED display on it. Those junk Controller Gamers won't know the difference.!" And hey if you can't notice a precision difference. Between traditional analog and hall effect. Then fine. Good for you. I mean that's sad. But I guess if you don't care. Then it doesn't really matter. For you. But for everyone else. It's a pretty big deal.! So the fact that it doesn't have hall effect sensors. Only means they want you to buy more of them when it stops working. And that they think because you use a controller you don't have the precision. Like it's not required.! So if it works for you. Great.! But it"s a disappointment for me. I guess I expected more from Asus on such a ubiquitous device.! Anywho. Excellent video.! Thank you sir.! 👍👍
5:40 the back buttons are not assignable to keyboard keys, not sure why you would say that Maybe reWASD can add support at some time to enable this, but obviously requiring 3rd party software to do that is sad for a "Pro" controller
yeah, for that price I think they went too safe as an option. But also, Asus its a DIVA to price their hardware, kinda like RAZER. The D-Pad was a terrible part of the gamepad to be honest, easy missoportunity. Lovely review ETA!
>"You diffidently don't want to use those Modern Controls" Except if you play Luke, Guile, Zangief, and Lily since it not only makes them easier to play but they also lose almost nothing in their move kit. However, a good d-pad is still needed to pull off special moves and supers even in Modern Controls since manually using said moves doesn't reduce their damage.
Man that controller is pretty terrible for the price. Why put a battery draining screen with no function on the controller? That D-pad is horrible. There are better options for the price. Bluetooth operates at 2.4Ghz by the way.
This would be great for trolling my friends and brothers by setting taunts and trash talk messages on the OLED screen. Like GOAT on mine and Sore Loser 1 (2, 3, etc.) on theirs😂
looks like a decent alternative for the elite controller but i ain’t buying a controller in 2023 without hall effect, just ends up trash and a waste of money in a year
Since I first knew about this remote, I wanted to get it, but for that price, I can only connect to it with USB on an xbox 👎been reading the reviews got a 3.5 😱
ETA Prime, I was considering getting this controller for my Rog Ally, but it doesn't have the custom buttons from the Rog Ally for Armory Crate and Command Center so you can change performance stats, TDP changes from Silent to Turbo, etc. Can you configure those custom buttons to the controller? It seems like this controller was designed to compete with the elite controllers, but not tailored for Rog Ally specifically.
This was on my list for same reasons....I expected the front face buttons to provide access to those things but no talk about those here, just the back buttons.
i loved the elite 2 from what it felt like and its features but it came brand new with a slight stickdrift and after a week the A button didnt always work so i sent it back without a replacement because i read soooo many people have similiar problems and sent back their controller 4 or more times :(
Lol everyone is complaining on Amazon cause it doesn't support the original Xbox one. Like what're you doing. You spent more on your controller than your console! 😂
It’s there bud, every scenario is different, 8bitdo pro 2 over Bluetooth on pc was horrible for me I kept getting studder in my games and did everything to eliminate those issues on the pc’s end and no luck until I switched controllers and also troubleshooted using keyboard and mouse and my issues were gone, this waste of money controller in this video was good over 2.4 ghz
Ordered one. Sad fact is the need to go pro if you want wireless. The rgb and Oled are mostly useless ambient light projecting annonces. i hope there is power save feature to have blacked out oled and i can turn off the Stupid rgb. dimmable Ligh illumination on the control wands mounts would have been a cool instead useless decorating rgb
I'm thinking of getting the ROG Raikiri or Raikiri pro specifically for tekken 8 but as you mentioned, the D pad on the PRO model doesn't look too good for fighting game too. How is the D-pad on the non pro variant?
Waste of money.. if you want a pro controller with way more options.. buy a elite 2 controller.. you can pick those up for around a 100 bucks these days.. way more options, and a far better controller overall
Why does the finish look like someone smeared the controller in congealed perspiration? Definitely cheapens the look of this super expensive controller.
5:44 of note: it CANNOT be bound to a keyboard button. The options Armoury Crate provides are: Remap button Left joystick sensitivity Right joystick sensitivity Disable When using the Remap button setting, it only gives the following options to remap the back buttons to: Up, Down, Left, RIght, LSB, RSB, LB, RB, A, B, X, Y There is no option to bind to a keyboard button / key.
I really wish those two front buttons inside the trigger cluster for the screen were actual buttons a la the Razer Wolverine. The paddle position looks really nice, if weirdly shaped. I just cant stand the habit of controller makers to put paddles in the most inconveniently placed misclick zone so its always good to see a controller that doesnt put them right on the inside of the damn grips. Its also just a better place for them than that shitty side action design Scuf uses for their new PC controller. Honestly, if it had those 2 extra buttons, I'd be interested in checking this out as a replacement for my Wolverine because Armoury Crate looks a lot better for controller setup than Razer Syapse is. But with only the 4 paddles and the gimmick of having a screen, plus no hall effect sticks...i cant really justify the price, even as someone whos generally willing to pay premiums for good controllers and mice.
Does it operate like the regular rog ally controls? Like as in: does the right stick work like a mouse and can you launch Command Center and Armory crate? If you can’t, I wanna know why. Why would ASUS make something that isn’t exactly like their handheld? If you can, then cool, I’m in.
NOT WORTH THE PRICE No Hall effect joysticks or triggers, the rest of the options are available in any 3rd party controller these days for way cheaper like 8bitdo if u want quality product
Just get the 8Bitdo ultimate controller for $70. I got one for my son, it has PC and Switch support, bluetooth, 2.4g, charging base, hall sensors, software to customize everything. It's a great controller.
Whats the point. if latency is a concern use the rog ally controls anyways. If latency is not a concern then so many other options. One can go for the wireless 60m HDMI devices at the same price and use the ROG Ally in desktop mode wirelessly. Another option is having monitor smartTVs with inbuilt Remote Desktop Protocol support. Just have RDP service setup on the Ally and any RDP client on the local network will be able to use it. If playing in desktop mode its meh to not use superior keyboard and mouse controllers. I would instead explore accessories that provide wireless HDMI, touchpad, nipple/clit mouse, dense but carryable banks, coolers etc
It will never be an ultimate controller for fighting games when it still only has 4 face buttons. I want 6 buttons on the face, period. Just make them duplicates of the R1 and L1 shoulder buttons in the electronics to keep it simple as far as programming goes. This is not rocket science. As long as Streetfighter exists, I want a controller with 6 face buttons.
Hey !!! Just bought this controller from best buy with my Rog ally ! I can’t figure out how to properly update it as it’s asking me to use both 2.4ghz mode and wired mode off. Haven’t a clue how to do what it’s asking me so I can update it! Any ideas ?
I only have Dualsense 5 controllers i know i can use that but what about switching between ps5 en the Ally? Will i turn on my ps5 once i connected to the ally? The buttons wont "match" ... Idk whats another option?
There isn't much info on their joysticks on their website or anywhere. Stick dift incoming... Signs of degradation for most controllers are usally around 4-6 weeks. I will get it of course. I will send it back if I discover any sign degradation. $170 USD controller?
They really missed the opportunity to so so much with the display, not etuoud wallpapers, but they coukd ahve done custom macro inputs on the fly but changes etc
Funny nobody tell you that when your raikiri runs out of battery you have to turn off the controller and remove dongle from your pc othewise wont let you use another standar xbox controller lol
I’ve been in the market for a New Controller because the Xbox series controllers are way too loud for a late night gaming. I keep my whole family up. How’s the noise of button presses compared to the Xbox controller?
