@GTS yes it was electrifying. I was about to walk out seeing the way he played in the 3rd-4th sets. I already told myself he is done for. So glad he proved me wrong. But next up he will need some next level stuff to go through
Akhil Sai yeah but everything varies day to day so I feel like it could be night and day for his next match as he has two days to rest and prepare for whatever is to come.
Seeing Federer struggle was really heartbreaking, especially when he was not able to move properly, not retrieving balls and just serving wide and slow. We've seen it with Rafa, Novak, Andy and never felt the same, because its very very rare to see Federer as he was today. So glad, he won 😊😊😊
Djokovic is the master of surviving match points. 2010, 2011 us open versus Roger. Couple times against Tsonga in French? Not a Djoker fan but that dude might be a hair stronger mentally than Nadal and Roger. Oh yeah, and of course, the one fresh on everyone's minds...2019 Wimbledon.
@@willzsportscards yeah sure.. And don't forget the shanghai final vs Murray in 2012 where he saved 5 championship points. But considering how Federer played the entire match with groin injury and even at 50% of his usual self, this is as close to impossible as I've ever seen.
@@willzsportscards Funnily enough, Federer actually has a slightly better record from match point down than Djokovic. Djokovic is just better from match point up.
Roger was having a bad day at work. Really bad. And yet still managed to show us greatness. A remarkable human being, even beyond his magical tennis skills.
Nadal and Novak will still be there and other slam winners like Wawrinka , Chilic, and DelProtro , and those other guys, called the next gen, but not a single member of the next gen will never be able to compare themselves to the big 3, unless they bet them in a Slam final, the only person that was able to beat the big 3 in a final was Del portro against federer in the U.S. open.
@@amiram3161 if you have played any sort of sport then you should know that such reactions do happen. One can't be a Saint in every match you know. You are bound to lose your temper at some point and it's rare that Federer loses his
I couldn't look at the TV screen through all those moments...trust a real champ to hang in there. The desire to win just pushed him over the line here.
Its amazing to see him transform from a Champion to a Fighter. Nadal and Nole were always amazing fighters. Federer wasnt. He choked on many big occasions even when he was leading the game by big margins. But this is incredible comeback by Federed yet again. He will gain so much confidence in his fighting ability after these two 5-setters.
@Gentleman Cave : Whatever you're smoking, I want some. The boy is already 28 I hope you know. At that age - Nadal has won 14 Slam, Federer 15 and Djokovic 10.
@@atrollman7415 u could see him continuously speaking(I m sure he was abusing) and yes it was frustration + harsh(u might be from USA so u wouldn't see it)
And that ladies and gentlemen is the biggest choke i have witnessed lately. Not 1 not 3 but 7 match points and u cannot take it home. Sandgren is gonna think about this match for a long long loooonnnnggg time.
Tennys has a good chance of winning a major or two provided he doesn't suffer any serious injury. And whether he wins another major again or not, Federer is forever a tennis legend, Top 3 Greatest of the sport ever.
This is why we call him a legend. It's showed true example to young player not to over confident. Congrats rog. Yahoo am still can watch another match. I tot this is last game. Forever fan rog!!
It is so hard to break the top three. That is what separates these greats from the rest, they play the big points exceptionally well. No mistakes on crucial points.
I dont have words to explain. I never saw Roger coming back like this ever before. I also like his sportsmanship not walking away from the game and giving credit to the opponent. No one will ever say, I dont deserve to win this. Hope he wins the Aus open. Go on Roger!!!
Man, today was one of those days I was asking myself why his parents didn't name him baseball or something, when Roger was in deep trouble. After the fourth set I forgave his parents.
With Federer making so many errors in his matches, we are seeing the deeper reasons as to why he's such an incredible champion - his nerves of steel, his will of iron, and his heart of a lion.
Feel for Tennys. My son played junior tennis in TN the same time Tennys did. Can't believe I'm watching a kid I saw play tennis as a junior 16 years ago. I hope he learns from this and doesn't dwell on this too long.
I have no idea how he got through that! After being crushed in the second and third set I'd already accepted that his time had come to bow out. Obviously he's suffering physically, I'm sure in part due to the Millman marathon. He's on borrowed time now and I expect him to be well beaten by Djokovic or Raonic in the semis, but whatever happens I'm just happy to see him reach the semis.
I'm feeling proud to witness such a fight from the 38 year old legend. I literally cried when he saved match point on tennys's serve in tie breaker. To make 6-6
Federer losing after having matchpoints against Djokovic and then doing the opposite against Sandgren is like when your boss bullies you at work and you come home and yell at your wife.
