Too bad he got injured next match - the way he was playing, he looked invincible. I guess it really is unsaid physical issues that affects his form from one day to the next. But overall this year Fed has surprised me with his shotmaking - it's almost like his peak days. His technique is the best it has ever been.
@@momo0572 too bad you're probably a djokobitch fan whose first instinct is to give fake injury excuses and claim "djokobitch wasnt at his best" whenever he loses
An old man got injured, not surprised as fuck. Also, he got injured because of fighting with Switch-on Grigor for five matches, which is very high density for anyone
Well never count him out! He could still win many more, when he returns, in 2021- if he's taking this long off, you better be scared, when he comes back!
People here talking trash of Fed or the other Big Three players are just being lousy. Continuously great effort from all those guys, I hope Fed comes back stronger after physical ailments clearly hurt his footwork and serve in the Quarters.
Shame Fed's footwork and serve left him in the Quarters. Looked like typical physical ailment. He had a great chance to meet Nadal in the final, although Medvedev's effort to get there was outstanding.
@@NLLeFa Fed matches up pretty well vs Medvedev. He did beat him in 2019 Miami also although Medvedev's real strength and near-unbeatable run came after that.
Sad that he got injured in the next match v Dimitrov . Was playing well in this tournament , and especially shotmaking in the Goffin match was sublime .
The greatest inside out forehand the game has ever seen. He's standing 6 feet behind the baseline and hits an unreturnable winner. Next time you're on the tennis court try that shot. The body mechanics and the racket head speed needed to hit that..yikes.
After this match, I easily saw Fed in the finals but he fizzled to a Dimitrov who had lost 90% of his 2019 matches. Inexplicable except for injury by Roger.
He was injured! You can't blame this on choking, or mentally collapsing, he had a stiff neck, and a bad back, these injuries, are becoming a pain in the ass, I hope when he comes back, he comes back strong, I am even thinking, for him to play U.S. Open 2020- and after that, he'll still get a good 4+ months anyway!
@@pauljohnson6019 i was not talking about his injury in USO 2019. I was talking about the comeback you were hoping he would make in USO 2020. Never happened, not even close 😂
@@belukega Well that too, was due to injury and severe mental knocks, taking a massive toll on his mind. I forgot who he lost to, in 2020, I know he hasn't been playing for quite a while, since losing badly in QF, at Wimbledon 2021.
I'm a tennis fan. Federer, Nadal & Novak, I enjoy them all. I believe Federer moves, has better shot selection & serve, rifle backhand/forehand then anyone else. But they all have great games. If Roger was 33y0 he would be #1.
I don't think so because Federer is playing way better since Ao 2017 until now than 2013-2014-2015. And Nadal improved his serves in last years and Djokovic is still playing pretty great. If Federer had made the change on his backhand when he was 33 he would have been as great as he is now with less injuries maybe, that's all.
Lets look at the night situation for Fed year by year 2012 - night match with Berdych.. 2013 - Night match and louis armstrong stadium.... Robredo 2014 - QFs was night and got extended so he came up short of energy to a red hot Marin Cilic 2015 - Finals got extended to the night or early morning i don't remember exactly because of rain. 2016 - DNP 2017 - Night Match with Del Potro 2018 - Night match with john Millman 2019 - Night match with Dimitrov So yeah Night and US open don't favour Roger.. All Credit to his opponents also but i feel that he would have beaten most of his opponents if he had played in the day
@@jonathanchen1026 Yes, frigging injury jinx- Nadal would have been crushed, to cream pie, if Fed was in the finals, hell, Nadal might even have pulled out, and claimed injury or sickness, like he always does, when he faces Novak or Fed, on hard court!
If only, there could be a miracle, and he can be ready, for U.S. Open 2020- I would scream the house down- he could potentially, meet Djokovic, in the finals, if he plays, I just wish, it could happen, and he can get his revenge, right there!
Not anymore. Ask Nadal. Australian Open, Indian Wells, Miami he insisted on playing to Roger’s backhand and he was hammered by winners again and again.
@@juanantoniozuleta6575 How did djokovic do vs federer at wimbledon?SFs were low quality, both agut and djokovic and roger federer.Nadals FH pummeling roger was not a problem. His BH was weak.
@@aleksamilosevic8792 well let's see..Federer took Djokovic to the limit. Had two match points. Djokovic played brilliantly in the TB but overall Roger played better. Nadal never had a chance. Roger even gave him one set for free but dominated the entire match and his BH won him quite a few important points. Just look at the highlights.
Goffin si limita ad eseguire il suo compitino perché come potenzialità ne avrebbe da vendere ma sta lì in balia degli eventi non ci mette mai del suo questo è un problema caratteriale di una persona talentuosa ma senza mordente.
This is what tennis is all about;win through winners and not errors. I like USO very much for it has been sponsored by Mercedes Benz,AE and some top companies and moreover players play it like they are in a funeral, lol. Federer has a game that could beat anybody even now but his movements are sloppy and slow for a long period.I could understand he is 38.But I personally believe he could take care of it by some other inclusion in his game.He still has a couple of GS in him.Bel20ve🔥 (P.S:His groin and knee region has been bothering him since the USO,f**k it)
After the roof was installed, Roger is struggling a lot in night sessions in USO.. Something is bothering him.. USO 2018 and 19 he struggled a lot in night sessions but played a lot better in day sessions.. Night sessions are making the court way slower and he can't penetrate through his shots..
Watch Federer’s eyes as he is serving. He is looking at Goffins position even as he is starting his toss, ready to change his placement mid toss. It’s amazing how he can hit the ball so many different ways with the same toss and racquet grip.
@@jakehuang3545 true but I just thought someone at that stage would be able to replicate that sort of play. Djokovic, Wawrinka, Nadal, Murray, Del Potro, those players had incredible serves as well and I'm sure they were using the same or similar technique
@@Sena-co1ug fed is known for having his eyes on his opponent for much longer than other pro players including all those listed. He is also well known for having a unreadable serve, with fellow pro players praising fed for specifically being one of the toughest serves for them to read. I think its possible you overestimate a little bit what pro players are doing. yes, they're all very talents and train 24/7 to develop their skills, but when you compare them to each other, there are still things that certain players do that most players on tour cannot do. there is a reason why federer has the clearly best serve out of all the names you named, which is a claim supported by analytics and backed up by statements from other tour level players and analysts.
11:45 when Roger Federer is absolutely unloading on forehands and they're barely making it through the court, you know there's something wrong with the conditions
You wanna talk about the backhand right before the 2 final forehands? That backhand was the fastest shot of the rally, and it was FAST! despite the conditions.
If it was cincinnati, it would have been a winner shot... Uso courts have been drastically slowed down and now after installing the roof, the air circulation is so poor.. That's why u see Roger has been struggling in night conditions since 2018 when he had an excellent record once in night matches in USO(lost only to berdych uso 2012)...uso courts somewhat plays faster in day session..
A lot of ppl thought Fed was in form to win the USO last year with this match being an example of that form. The reality is Fed's movement is just not good enough to beat Djokovic or any zoning top tier young player these days. Fed's serve, versatility and precision power are still plenty to get through the early rounds. But once he runs into someone with great movement/defense who can counter Fed's aggression with some of their own, or force Fed to go for too much, he gets into trouble. Goffin just doesn't have the power to outclass an in form Federer. But lots of other players (Djokovic, Thiem and some others on occasion, can).
I miss my Roger porn! Hopefully there'll be a vaccine by the start of the AO in Jan 2021 because I need my Roger fix. This glimpse into life after Roger retires has been just as depressing as the pandemic!
I just can't understand how it's possible to play a wonderful match like this one, but loose against Dimitrov how was not at his best level against Federer... That's just insane
Don't understand what went on from this match where he was playing incredible, and then Dimitrov. I know Dimitrov played better than Goffin, but Federer level seems to have dropped a little. Kind of what happened at the last AO, very very convincing first two rounds and then unforced errors start to creep in.
I just don’t get how he can play like the best player in the world in the 4R and then lose to Dimitrov in the next. Dimitrov is not a much better opponent than Goffin, honestly. His SF run was just a fluke.
@@MrPatrickbuit no, in the second set. it flared up more after the 4th when he took a medical TO. but regardless, grigor outplayed him, and had a real shot in the first two sets against medvedev in the semis.
Alex Wilson uhu “outplayed him.” If you’re the number 3 in the world you shouldn’t get outplayed by Dimitrov. Fact of the matter is, Fed was just shit and Dimitrov profited from it. Dimitrov should have never been in that semifinal. You can say he “challenged” Medvedev, but in reality he lost 3-0.
@@MrPatrickbuit Fact is, Fed was screwed up, when he twerked his back, and Dimitrov the coward, took advantage, from it! What happened to his game next round? He got the stuffings knocked out of him! And what happened to Medvedev in the final, he collapsed, and pissed his pants, like a clown, this whole tournament was a joke, a shambles, they should have just cancelled the whole thing ,after Fed's injury, rather than letting, that joke of a played, Nadul, get a cake walk draw, and piss all over everyone, absolute shit.
He did, at the wtf London! He won in straight sets, unfortunately, it seemed to take too much out of him, as he played crap in next round, either that, or he just didn't take it too seriously, after that, as Nadal was out anyway, by default, and there was no real danger.
What his forehead is one of the greatest ever what are you talking about. I'm a big fan of nadal but saying Roger's forhand is bad is just complete ignorance
He does it when he wants a safe defensive shot. Its actually really good that he incorporated this shot into his repertoire since hes old and slow now and doesnt get to every ball as fast as he once did. When he is able to attack he followed through wrappinh around his chest just like he used to, he just isnt on complete offense all the time because he cannot physically dominate. Now he needs to wait for an opportunity and having a reliable defensive shot that can be hit on the run is ver important for surviving long enough to find an opportunity
