There's something incredible about mid 2000s Federer. Fed said later in his career that he was a much better player in the 2010s but man, this Fed is so scary. The raw talent, athleticism, and just insane racquet head speed is a treat to watch
It’s all mental, in the mid 2000’s he was almost seen as invincible except for against Nadal. In the early 2010’s players like Nadal, Djokovic and Murray all hit their peaks so with the big 4 being a thing Federer lost that aura of invincibility.
@@WuzzaWombatproblem was he had these younger guys coming up and the 2 handed backhand is a much better shot for durability than the single hander. The era of tennis changed a fair bit in the time they came through for me. Federer didn’t enjoy slower courts like they did.
@@Ben6164the level of tennis was objectively more impressive in the 2010s than in the mid 2000s. Shots were faster, heavier and athleticism was higher.
Davydenko was an absolute legend. Made so many SFs only to see Federer stop him! Nikolay is on Safin and Medvedev level. It's incredible this was only a SF and not the final of the USO! Federer had a ridiculous draw playing Davydenko followed by an almost peak Djokovic in 2007! Djokovic beat him in Montreal just 2 weeks earlier. Federer really had it tough!
Really enjoyed the upload, thanks Kunnu! I still remember this match like it was yesterday and suddenly we are 16.5 years further, wow haha. In 2007.. no, in 2008 rather, was the start of the decline in Federer's forehand dominance. Since 2008, you would only see glimpses of what was a monstrous and pinpoint accurate forehand in 2003-2006/07 who would really put matches to bed. Since then, he's looping the forehand more often than not because he wants to take it as early as possible, and he's not taking full swings anymore, but that change was probaby better for his shoulders in the long term. Just miss seeing this man play that's all.
His bout with Mono occurred at a time when Nadal and Djokovic were entering their prime. It took him some time to recover as evident at the 2008 AO. Despite starting to decline he made it to 8 consecutive major finals from 08 French to 2010 AO. He won 4 majors and lost 3 heartbreakers in the fifth set. Any other player would be thrilled with those results, which shows how great the Peak of his Prime you mentioned was.
Great tournament, also some of Fed's best outfits. This one and the total black for the night session are really classy. Great highlights keep it going.
@@NamTran-xc2ip If you take a look at some recent Nike outfits, the simplicity and the elegance of this one are unmatched. Nike is putting out some weird stuff. Also, personal opinion man. Isn't the total black outfit just all black following your logic? But it looks cool. They boot look cool to me. Blue and white go very well together. Nike has been releasing some shitty stuff in the past 3/4 years. Strange color combinations, weird stripes and shit, horrific neck designs. Let's not talk about the shoes.
Wooooooooooow!! I never imagined someone having this match in this quality! I did not see it in this quality ever, not even when it was live😂 My birthday was about 3 weeks ago, so I consider this a sweet present🤭 thank you so much for this grand upload and for the joy you bring to Roger fans everywhere with these!
Since you were able to pull out this miracle of match, I have to ask.. do you by any chance have any of Roger's matches in this quality from USO 2008, other than the ones vs Djokovic and Murray? I would love to see especially the ones vs Andreev and Stephanek in this amazing quality.
That one will be tough because I know CBS broadcasted in 1080 which is why I was able to get these in high quality although I don't think CBS broadcasted those earlier rounds. I'll keep looking though, I would love to have those in high quality on my channel one day!
Alright I’m gonna say it. Everyone talks about the big 3 in tennis. But no one talks about the big 3 in RF/tennis highlights: TVRF, peRFect tennis, and Kunnu! Not to mention Raz Ols and VivoRN
Thanks for the highlight though I had yet to see this one and it was awesome the qualify was fantastic! But would you be able to get the more in depth one of the 07 AO final of Fed and Gonzalez? Like to see that one when Fed was at his absolute peak kind of sad no one could challenge him at all so we never got to see the best of what he could've delivered there he just walked away with the title. Gonzalez challenged him for one set kind of accept the tie break and that was it. His game didn't stand a chance. Would've been real fun to even see Davydenko play him there.@@KunnuITF
I do have that match in pretty good quality where the ball is clearly visible although the framerate isn’t as good as this video. I’ll get to work on that one since it should have less restrictions with copyright.
I have a ton of Wimbledon stuff, some really old matches in really good quality. Except Wimbledon is the hardest tournament to upload from since they always strike content almost immediately. I’ll try figuring out a solution though cause I don’t want all of it to be wasted.
Roger played like shit, feels like he has no intensity and Davydenko man what an unsung hero. He is changing the direction of the ball with that backhand so easily even better than joker.
