XR rebels commiting civil disobedience, and willing to go to prison are carrying on a noble British tradition of radical dissent, from Wat Tyler and the Peasants Revolt --the 1st Poll Tax Rebellion! to Gerrard Winstanley and the Diggers, from the Suffragettes to Greenham Common women to the 1990s 2nd Poll Tax Rebellion!.. *These* are the *true* patriots imo, *not* jingoistic war mongering Tories (blue, red, purple or yellow) singing Land of Hope and Glory!
Hey, OutsideLeftGal! Just linking to this Wikipedia article about Parihaka, coz you might enjoy it. Parihaka is a really important part of NZ history involving non-violent resistance, preceding Ghandi, MLK, etc.: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parihaka And the song "Parihaka" by Herbs and Tim Finn (lyrics in the description): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Yn7a7xMeRkw.html
Six weeks? Just proves what a limp wristed justice system we have in this country. This guy should be in prison for a lot longer than six weeks. His road blocking stunts resulted in death and injury as emergency vehicles were obstructed. Why not ask for a meeting with those people and try spewing your cult agenda at someone who's loved one died because their ambulance was obstructed by one of your 'protests'?. Nah, I didn't think so.
I'm not certain I got this right Roger but were you writing about Bertrand Russell? I believe that at that time when he was writing he came in for some critical comments from the Muslim community, and disparaging remarks were made about his domestic and personal life. I have been past his old house in the Wye Valley where he entertained George Bernard Shaw amongst others. I have no further details and can only comment as a Christian that his History of Western Philosophy was wonderful and his "atheism" has no bearing to how I view him as a person. The spirit is indwelling in the minds of the very many who have applied themselves rigorously to academic and intellectual pursuits as "mental life", without organised or formalised belief. Whilst belief is usually a separate entity to secular scholasticism the refinement to the mind in my experience make thought and belief close compadres. Thank You for your dignified stance. Jules the Poet.
@Donald McCarthy its no wander this beautiful world and the lives of the many are so fucked when people think mythical creatures are more plausible than creation..

We owe you guys a lot, thanks for doing a bit of time for all of us that didn’t. I’m very greatful to you and Gail for ER and all the hardwork, sweat and tears. The world needed a couple of formidable personalities with balls to save the earth. Gosh, how do you thank someone for desperately try to save the world & bring down the government. Thank you
Thank you Roger for your honorable actions to protect our environment instead of being so quiet on this reality crisis!!!!! You are making the difference!!!!! You energize my courage to make pressure on the evil powers w her I can!!!!!!!!!!!
most awkward conversation ever inmate 1: what you doing time for?, inmate 2: "selling meth to hookers, what you in here for". inmate 1: "caring about other people, and sustainability for the planet"
Is an effort being made to spread the word on the climate crisis in prisons? After all prisoners share the same planet and the same concerns about the environment. I understand Quakers are involved in XR. As a faith group Quakers are active regarding the welfare of prisoners and prisoners on release. Have they brought this issue to the table?
Just discovered Roger tried to run an organic farm in Mid Wales. Unfortunately, Mid Wales has a harsh climate. Hence, Welsh farmers tend to be strong, resilient characters. Roger it seems is not, and instead decided extreme climate change was the problem. When in fact Roger may well have been an inexperienced, naive farmer!
Thats true.. Hes a failure and cant hack it now hes a figurehead for bored housewives and feckless lefties..... The more these people whine.... The more of a polluter it makes you want to be.... And dont get me started on Emma Thompson... Grrr
Thank you Roger on behalf of my kids and my unborn grandkids who may or may not appear given that my teenagers have already decided that they couldn’t possibly bring anyone else into this crisis.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing it for those of us who can't, due to disability or chronic illness..send you a big hug (and a small donation, wish it could be much bigger but I'm on a very low end income)..Love & Solidarity 💗 ✊ 🌱
It always amazes me that people can be put in jail for flying a drone when our prime minister just got told he suspended our democracy illegally and he is still on the premium dole of £70k 🤣🤣. The whole thing is a joke and the punch line is coming!
Yeah it is double that, but to be honest I still don't think it's enough for running the country, I certainly wouldn't want to do it and people can get better paid doing something else. There are head teachers who get similar and that's running a school of maybe 1500 students not the country. Anyway not that I particularly support anyone in the UK government but I do respect that they do not do it for the money and I really don't care that they get paid that much
I feel so ashamed that I can't make sacrifices like this, I got people to feed. If I go to prison my family will definitely go back into the shelter. But here's hoping 🥂 I can one day leave my family a large sums of Money, so I can one day join the ranks.
Hey, there's no shame in that - we all have different situations. (And different risks in different countries, and depending on privilege/bias pretty much everywhere.) But there's plenty of stuff to do besides getting arrested, from tiny to big. Even posting supportive comments on social media like you just did, is awesome and valuable.
Derek Buttery see, I’m in total support of these beautiful people, but I’m not a pacifist myself, you better hope these guys get results because there’s quite a few of us old anarchists out here who aren’t going to take your shit laughing boy.....know what I mean Del?
San Franaco sends Congratulations for making bail and inspiring the world. There is a faster more effective method amd SOMEDAY SOMEONE from XR UK will reach out.
Deleting comments you're not happy with is childish XR.... again holding that umbrella you are an absoulute hypocrite. Mate it's a bit of rain, you're crew are the last folk to be using such things. The do as I say, not as I do, that ship has sailed long ago.
Dude the fact that XR have been harping on about how the world as we know it, is basicly going to end if we don't Reduce our carbon footprint. They should all take a good look at them selfs. I don't buy into any of this bollocks, but I bet you my personal impact on the environment is nothing, to most of these attention seeking XR protesters. And to the point my comment was added to some others, in favour of XR after some comments were deleted. Made me look like I was agreeing with what XR says. and I'm not having any that.
Emininem Without me suggested video anyone? Seems it was intentional. Very amusing and poignant. I'd love to hear an XR crowd singing "Nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah nah nah, nah na nah nah" 😂
@@shiv_ring I got a suggested video for "without me" overlaid on the end of this video. I was wondering if it was intentional. Seems it was. Amusing and poignant
You look well, Roger. The arrest was obviously a good (a)rest, ha ha. Thank you for all you've done, and wind in your sails for the continuing struggle!
A great prison release statement... Such a fine example of non violence, even after 6 weeks of incarceration you speak with conviction minus aggression, you are an example to all
Thank you Roger, and well said! In the UK we are in a privileged position of being able to be arrested and imprisoned without fearing for our lives (at least, those of us who are white & middle-aged). It is our duty to use that privilege to sound the alarm loud and clear, wake people up to the climate & ecological emergency that is unfolding around us,, and shake our government into acting.
Clarity in his words. Wondering if there is a afterlife, how will those who seek injustice will be Judged? Wake up world , open your eyes and take off the ear muffs.
Thank you Roger, from the bottom of our hearts, and very glad to have you back. Sending you much love. I am over the moon, to also receive a good news letter from the local organic farmers, that I loyally support as a customer, announced that XR volunteers had turned up on time and worked hard, despite the rain, mud and lack of experience, and that anything small, misformed or blemished was gladly sent to London to feed the protest. Our organic farmers agree, saying, "I love XR, primarily for their values and determination, but almost as much for their ability to harness, organise and get the best from people, with fluidity, humanity and trust, but none of the rigid structures and hierarchies most organisations resort to. I reckon most businesses, and even governments, could learn a lot from them." Says it all for me too :-)
Sorry not not sorry to put a downer on all the positive comments so far. You guys are only in prison because you're a nuisance/danger to the general public and emergency services...so don't complain about the whole lame freedom of speech excuse. Do something useful, rather than being arrested...There are other ways to convey your message. Watch and learn from David Attenborough.
Maybe it’s time you get together with Lord Hugh who is in Greece. His ideas are palatable- but XR followers are not being open minded enough to listen. That’s all he asks. You can find him on Reddit.
I thought extinction rebellion was going to stop thanking police considering how many people are oppressed by the police in this country, I love XR but I think you really have to listen to what so many activists in your group are saying about the lack of awareness for this issue.
I always refer back to a revolutionary premise that if you can convert law enforcement to or closer to your point of view, it becomes a catalyst to also convert society as a whole. Perhaps this is part of the strategy. We need a whole lot of catalysts if first-world societies are going to move off their inertial derrieres for rapid action.
There's nothing wrong with thanking the police if you are treated fairly. Would you thank the store assistance at the Apple Store after you've just bought an iPhone, when Apple exploits low income Chinese workers with terrible working conditions? u.nu/ihoneity We already have the climate crisis on our shoulders, there's no need to pile more responsibility on too.
@@EnzoVecchiaio we don't need them, it's more important we make a welcoming place for our siblings from all over, brown nosing cops does quite the opposite effect... XR scotland said they wanna Decolonise XR and XR UK shared their post of the banner stating... Yes, show us how it's done!!
@@likklewicked I don't disagree at all. I was merely speculating about tactics. 1968 Columbia University, campus shutdown. I was an undergrad and watched the NYC cops storm on campus on horseback, beating heads with truncheons. No denying that the mentality is tough to penetrate with reason.
@@TN-pw2nl I have no idea. There are too many prisons in the USA. They are full of petty criminals while the great criminals run free.. run the governments and banks.. despoil the earth itself.
Thank you for waking us up. I am also in rebellion & was arrested in London a few weeks ago for obstructing a highway. It is my moral duty as a doctor to join XR in peaceful non-violent action. 💚✊
