You're in my Neck of the Woods! About 15 miles west of my hometown of New Bedford! MA, of course. Good food there. Comfort food for locals and the surrounding towns. Stick to your rib good. You won't leave there hungry ever! Fall River and New Bedford are the local hubs for Portuguese dishes. New Bedford also has Hispanic places as well as Cape Verdean foods. New Bedford is Very Diverse culturally. Many diverse cultures with similar yet different cuisines and cultures. Heat east over the Braga bridge to Fall River and New Bedford.
We were both born in New Bedford, and I lived in Dartmouth and Duane lived in Westport through high school! Hello neighbor! We are so lucky to have our heritage. Duane is Cape Verdean and I am 100% Portuguese (both parents immigrated to the US in the 1950's). Check out some of our Portuguese recipes on our channel! Love living in this area, the food is off the hook!
@@duanenidia-foodtravelandfun I am Cape Verdean myself. My grandparents came to New B at the turn of the 20th Century/ very early 1900s! Small world. Keep up the videos. It would be nice if you included your US origins/background to shout out a forgotten/neglected area of MA so close to the Cape! My first time seeing your videos. Keep up the good work!
@@duanenidia-foodtravelandfun P.S. If You're in my city anytime soon please check out Mi Antojo in New B's South end off Cove St. Authentic Mexican food cooked by native Mexicans! So good. This place even has more of a drive-thru place, with the same name "Mi Antojo" where you can get fast lunches, etc. Worth the trip to the Restaurant though which is colorful and inviting. Margaritas and all! Sorry don't know the address I just know where it is so I just go there. Just off the library/parallel to Rte 18 where Cove intersects with the last stretch of 18 before Rodney French Blvd!
@@karenalves8100 What a great idea, never thought of that. I think you are right, our viewers might want to hear our story, and our heritage. It is important to highlight it and be proud!! Thank you, we will make some plans to do this, maybe to celebrate our viewers this summer!
@@duanenidia-foodtravelandfun Great! A great time to come is the week of the 4th! The Cape Verdean/4th of July parade comes right by my house and there are fireworks and celebrations all over. This year its July 6th, Saturday. The reason the CV celebration is included is because the Cape Verde Islands gained Independence from Portugal on July 5th, 1975! This year will be the 49th Anniversary. 2025 will be the Big 50 year celebration. There will be food and all kinds of celebrations happening. Tourism is really BOOMING in New Beige and tourists LOVE the history but NOT MUCH is done to PROMOTE the diversity that this city is famous for. Please let me know if you do decide to come whenever that might be. I'm 70 now and don't have a car anymore but I'd love to meet you both if you're close to my neighborhood. I can give you my email, etc later if you decide to visit NB.
