Roglic deserved this victory. With all the adversities faced, he overcame them all and won. An example to be followed. Example of overcoming and determination. Congratulations to all riders involved in the Giro, congratulations to Jumbo Visma!

Roglic is a worthy winner of the Giro, but some extra words for Geraint Thomas here. His post-TT interview was truly masterclass. Fignon never recovered from a similar defeat and bore a lifelong grudge - Thomas was gracious, honest and funny. What a gentleman.

People criticize G Thomas for the helmet change, but he finished on top of everyone but Roglic, AND more and more science is talking about body temperature affecting performance. You lose most your heat through your head, so a well ventilated helmet is critical to maintaining a lower body temperature. Being aero isn’t a priority on the climbs.
@alexsumorsaete2135
@alexsumorsaete2135 Год назад
The bike and helmet change is a red herring. He was only +2”behind Roglic after it. He lost the Giro in the last 2km when he said “i could feel my legs going” while Roglic was being fuelled on pure adrenaline
@n.heroep2786
@n.heroep2786 Год назад
I do think that Ineos takes science to the extreme. They overthink it IMO. Or maybe Thomas was too confident that he can defend 26 seconds. He doesn't seem in a hurry. After all, he has been consistent, while Roglic wasn't. If you look at the people around the climb, they were wearing sweaters and light jackets. So the weather wasn't that hot. Also, the way Ineos changed the bike wasn't smooth at all. Even Pucio who tested the changing helmet, has the other guy holding his ITT bike, while the guy holding the road bike gave him the helmet. Thomas said it took. him 2.5 hours to piss for doping control. Well, he must be so dehydrated. So ITT helmet or a climbing helmet, if you don't drink, it doesn't matter. At the end of the day, I think Ineos overthink the ITT with the helmet. But it doesn't matter, Thomas lost the Giro. He didn't have the leg.

@n.heroep2786
@n.heroep2786 Год назад
I hope when Rogilc retires, GCN will make a film of him as part of the legend series. Roglic is the "people champion". He brought what we face every day called "life" on the world stage: "We fail and we bounce back." His story of winning is all about a set back and bouncing back. He is truly an inspiring story of conquering adversity. Congratulations to Roglic. I still can't believe how it's unfolded. Who da' thought huh? The chain just had to pop out. And who da' thought, when there's no spectator, there's one person who happens to be his ex-teammate was standing at the right place and at the right time. It's like every path to his win has been scripted, He had to crash and injured, got dropped at stage 16, had a deficit of 29 seconds, stole 3 seconds at stage 19, then chain dropped, and out of the blue his ex-teammate came to his rescue, and Thomas lost his leg. It's just too far-fetched to even be a coincidence. His win is beautiful. With the backdrop of Slovenian fans, the hardest mountain ITT (a resemblance of La Place de Belfies), with a deficit of 26 seconds, and oh yeah throw a drama of chain dropped. Everything is an eery resemblance of stage 20 TDF 2020 but with the same Roglic. What better ending than this? It's right up there with Froome Giro's rampage, Nibali's magic coming back and Pogacar stealing TDF. All those three are great, but Roglic's story gotta be the no1.most memorable win. I've never seen a similar scenario happens twice with the result of tragedy and triumph for the same rider.😲😲

Amazing time trial performance by Roglic. G Thomas performed well for that TT and has nothing for which to hang his head, but Roglic was amazing. But, GCN weren't the riders required to change bikes, as TT bikes were not permitted on the climb? It was not an option to change. It was required.
@TheSnahsnah

PR definitely a worthy winner …… but I have a genuine question…..I thought it was illegal to do a bike change during a normal stage unless you had a mechanical. Seem to remember Philippo Ganna getting penalised last year for switching bikes at the bottom of the final climb.. isn’t that what roglic did on stage 19? Can I add a bit of controversy into the conversation. I was watching the TT (on GCN+ of course) and swear the cameras switched to Roglic on his road bike adopting the forearms on handlebar position. Wasn't this position banned by the fun police, sorry UCI? I can't have been the only one who saw this. Perhaps it was another YB rider. Perhaps I am being a little bitter and I was actually imagining the whole thing however it has been playing on my mind a little. Is there someone out there that can set my mind at rest?
@n.heroep2786
@n.heroep2786 Год назад
Yes, it's banned but not in ITT. The UCI rules state that. I think the commentator of GCN talked about it, and they confirm the banned puppy paw (UCI rule) doesn't apply during ITT. Maybe because you are riding alone and not in the peloton. If you are bitter that Roglic won, well I was bitter too when Roglic lost TDF from Pogacar. So took me 3 years, to finally be ecstatic for Rogilc to win the Giro with a similar scenario. If you follow his story, you would understand, how all his win is a story of him conquering his setback.
