Im buying the Fantom immediately. It's a no brainer. I was in love with the jv/xv sounds in the 90's. Zen core sounds are dope. I love how you can edit the sounds with the knob out front. With all the axial and the Roland cloud zen core and classic synth expansions. The fantom is a dream come true. I been waiting for like 20 years for something like this to come out. The only thing they could do to top this is to do all this with a Roland vst which will never happen.

PRO TIP: if you want to install all 15 or more than one at once, press and hold the SHIFT button whilst scrolling DOWN the list with the knob. the expansion you select will be highlighted in RED as you go. if you are doing all 15 at once, it's about an hour and 16 minutes to install all 15 at once.

Thanks for the info man! My Fantom 6 just came today and I'm overwhelmed as heck just been trying to navigate through everything so far. I got the Jupiter XM right after watching your first video too. As per the Fantom though I have been researching how on earth to use the DAW CTRL w Ableton & PC I know its for Logic but.... I see you use Windows too and you helped me w routing the Jupiter to Ableton multi channel . Any recommendations for how to route multi channels/ Midi into Ableton and maybe even more???? Just want to get the most outta it and don't plan on switching to MAC & Logic any time soon.

Thanks for watching! I haven't tried it with a daw as that's not really my workflow, as far as I know though it should stream the parts via USB in a similar way to the Jupiter-Xm

SoundsAndGear Are you going to be keeping the Fantom? Reason I ask is because your vids are so helpful, and this Fantom has a lot going under the hood so there's a lot to grasp. I've got a lot of the basics down, but I'm hoping for more in-depth videos. One that I'm really looking forward too is for someone to cover the Daw integration for recording, preferably for Logic. I'm plugging away at the manuals but I still have a lot of questions...and visual reference is always better.

Got a new Fantom 8. Kept the TEMPO key pressed just prior to powering on and then afterward. However, expansion menu never pops up. It just goes right into the normal menu it would do even without the USB appropriately installed. And I have the USB installed in the correct jack as you do, first one on far left. Any idea what I might be doing wrong to have normal menu arise and not be able to go into the area where to add the expansion packs?

Ed Diaz on Roland said to drag the png and the srx files into the Roland folder for the Fantom 06 mind you, which I did. What if I don't put the png file in with the folder for the usb stick? Will I then be able to install all of them at the same time like you did? The reason I am asking is because I could only install 4 out of the 15? Why is that? Please help me here...SBN RESONATE

Hi, thanks for the video. Do you know if these also work with the XM. I see in the release notes of the latest XM firmware that it now supports import of tones based on ZenCore.

These expansions are for the Fantom, there are Zen Core soundpacks that will work on both though.

Hey bro, did you check the new content for the Fantom? Also, I really wonder how much it cost and how many would fit all together in the Fantom memory. It looks it’s in percentage of memory now, apparently out of the 2Gb? I’m not sure, I don’t own the Fantom (yet), but I had previous Fantom XR fully loaded and I wonder if I could get all previous sounds (apparently yes), but also what the new sound EXZ would sound like, how many could be loaded and how much it would cost.

I no longer have this, but when I did, I was able to load all of the old SRX (EX or whatever) into it.

Are those same SRX expansions free to install on the new Fantom 0 series as well? I heard a Roland Cloud account is required.

As far as I know you can install the SRX expansions, you can setup a free Roland Cloud account, no subscription is required to get the free stuff.

Hey Joe, I had written another comment in one of the other videos, but why can't I install all 15 of them? I can literally only install 4 of them at a time. Do I have to go in and delete the sounds I don't want, or is there a way to get more space, or to make them all fit at once? I think this is unacceptable on Roland's part to only have this much storage space. It seems like there is only mb's, instead of gb's if I'm not mistaken here. This is crazy to me for such an expensive unit like this. Can someone help that has knowledge on why I can't install all of them? Please, thank you...SBN RESONATE

There is definitely a limitation on what can be installed, and it may be different on certain models if I recall. I no longer have this so I can check but I believe the limitations are listed in the manuals.

How much space does the board have for expansions & how big are the expansions on average?

It just shows 16 slots, so I'm not sure how much space exactly, they are MB in size.

hi, thanks for the video. i'm trying to do this on mac, and struggling. i have managed to format the usb with the fantom, and the root folder has been crated on the usb (according to the fantom) but the root folder isnt showing when i plug the usb into my mac. when i copy the file over to the usb and start up the fantom with the tempo button held, it isnt showing the file. any ideas? thanks

Not sure, I didn't have to do anything special I just copied it to the drive and it worked (after formatting it in the Fantom first)

@@SoundsAndGear i figured out the problem was a combination of an unsuitable usb and old software on the roland. once i tried a different usb, the roland was able to see the software update file from the mac, then after updating it was able to see the exz files and i could follow your method above.
