Would you label this synth a performance synth?

Interesting instrument. I have never played with one of these. Might have to try one out down at the GuitarCenter.

I think I've watched all your videos on this synth, I'm interested in them and no one around here has one for me to check out. you've shown me enough to know that this would do exactly what I want a synth to do. thank you kind sir

thanks, nice work....but for me, after testing in shops, i ended up buying yamaha mx49... with the jmelas gr software, the mx49 went over the top in many ways...

I'm considering this or the MX49, or the Yamaha MM6. Do you feel the Gaia is better?
@EdDiazKeys
@EdDiazKeys 9 лет назад
***** The Gaia is different than the MM6 or the MX49 as it's focus is on synth sounds. The other 2 keyboards give you a more varied range of sounds such as piano, and other acoustic instruments. Personally, take a look at what you want to get out of the keyboard and choose one that best suits your situation.

Thanks. I have a microKORG, thinking now I want the Gaia. Just start collecting synths like a crazy lady does cats. Although the MM6 has some great sounds.

Is it possible to determine all parameter type settings which were used by Roland, for the preset patches? I'd like to know where i.e. the envelope faders are positioned, to achieve the supplied presets.

What happened to a demo on bank A8 which sounds like a swirling noise if I'm not mistaken ?? It's been a long time since I had one but if it's there then why not show us all what you think you can do with it ?? Thanks for the demo anyway 😎 Glen 🎹

hi, i like this product, but would you recommend the jupitor 80?

I think it's a shame the presets aren't great because otherwise it's a very versatile synth, I own one and the quality/price ratio is phenomenal, I was able to get some really mean sounds from this bad boy... not to mention 64 keys poliphony, 3 indipendent OSCs, 2 LFOs (there is a hidden one), variations on every wave and much more. If you find one that doesn't cost too much buy it, you won't regret it. Just need to learn tweaking it a bit!
@EdDiazKeys
@EdDiazKeys 5 лет назад
Absolutely correct! This is an incredible value synth. You will learn a lot about synthesis and creating your own sounds. Don't forget that you can also save a back on the USB thumb drive. Plus make sure you check www.axial.roland.com for even more sounds. Take care!

Is the trance gate available for any sound, and is there more than that one "legend be lost in love" pattern?
@2mitchbrink

Argh. Why did I sell my JP8000?!? I use a Yamaha MOXF8 live and I'm trying to figure out what to buy as a second synth to do leads. I want fat analog sound. Not worried about drums, bass, or cheesy emulations of pianos, etc. Just fat leads. This demo doesn't sound bad at all, but I keep reading reviews that say the GAIA sounds too thin.
@TomZentra
@TomZentra 10 лет назад
The reviews are correct, but thinness isn't the only reason. It just sounds awful. Save your money. Some of us already learned the hard way.
@richardstevens8839
@richardstevens8839 10 лет назад
TomZentra Yeah but isn't it a good package to learn synthesis, or would the Bass Station 2 be better?
@TomZentra
@TomZentra 10 лет назад
Richard Stevens Either one is fine for that purpose, but you don't have to learn synthesis to write good music. For good leads, buy the Korg Kross.
@richardstevens8839
@richardstevens8839 10 лет назад
TomZentra it looks like too much of a workstation, thinking I may get a BS2 as they're £332 as oppsed to £479, but I want a knob encusted synth, I have an Alesis MIcron, I like the sound, but frustrating to get to grips with the menu diving.

can't decide whats better for the money, roland gaia or korg ms20 mini
@RLCH26
@RLCH26 10 лет назад
Of course the Korg, it is real analog, it sounds way better. this is too limited for a VA.

@scruz4774 10 лет назад
Yeah, I got the ms20 mini also. I like it a lot. Those filters and the fatness of the synth sound is nice. It doesnt have much "colorful" sounds like you may hear in modern music but its a great analog synth.
@Absolutelywhack
@Absolutelywhack 9 лет назад
It really depends on what you want! If you want to tweak waveforms like nobody's business and get that genuine analog warmth, go for the Korg. However, the Gaia is going to give you much more flexibility, along with a slightly sterile sound characteristic due to the fact that it's not true analog. Both are great synths for your arsenal, in my opinion, but totally apples and oranges when it comes to comparison.

It's an oddity of a synth.. It's certainly not cheap, yet provides massive polyphony (64), and on the other hand, has only 64 preset sounds, which is pathetic for a synth in it's price range. Yet it is truly portable and easy to program your own sounds, and can sound really awful or quite decent. As I said, an oddity.

I always always always hate the style the guys play in demo/review videos. It just sounds dated. Im not going to be in a wedding band, and im not playing whatever this guy is jamming to. I think modern day people looking at synth reviews are electronic musicians, not nujazz players.
@goyolake
@goyolake 9 лет назад
You sir, are very limited. The guys that beat the crap out of these synths come from all styles, from Deadmau5 to Chic Corea, to Todd Terje

Nie Gouyn fast forward to 3 minutes and put a wack edm beat behind it, if it helps you sleep better at night, you simp.

Oh wow, what a well thought out, and might I add, articulate and eloquent side to how you think. Clearly you are using the internet to make up for the testicles you don't have in real life. That aside, I don't care for "edm" or whatever mainstream pop sound you so ignorantly think I want. Im only saying when selling the product you should use a wide range of genres to make someone who doesn't care for "Wedding jazz" say, "wow, I think I want this."
@terrormech
@terrormech 9 лет назад
Nie Gouyn i hate these jazz demos too, but almost all keyboard sales are driven by religious groups who want that jazzy/bluesy gospel sound. yes, even synths like this.
