Hello everybody, here's a video that I shot with my nephew, DJ Hush, while he was staying with me. As you can you see, DJ Hush was a very good listener and was able to easily record a pattern sequence.

Hey Ed, just wanted to say your tutorials are really awesome and easy to follow. I got a JD-XI for Christmas, and I couldn't find tutorials that went slow and explained everything, except for yours. Keep up the great work!

really fun , great video, really! i m playing for almost an year ( dgx 650 yamaha ) and i want to upgrade the equipment with synth \ vocoder and this synth is great. 2 questions: do you know if i can connect the this synth in my digital piano and hear together on my keyboard and..maybe there is a synt-keyboard from roland whith this effects? i prefere a bigger keyboard keys... thank you!

Ed thanks again for a very informative tut. When you erase the preset, is there any way to make this deletion permanent, so we don't have to do it each time we want to use the sequencer? Or every time we power on the synth. Also how can I use an external keyboard. I plug into line in, flip switch to Line, but I get nothing. If I put the selector switch to vocal FX and press the Auto Tune I get something, but it sounds distorted. Sorry if this is off topic, but I can't find a good place to ask this question. Otherwise I love the JDXI and have subscribed to your channel. You should give DJ Hush a raise.Thanks
Hey I just want to say I really enjoyed this demo....JD Hush is cool!....and so are you!...Your videos really have helped me with my JD Xi....I have a small problem I hope you can help me with....is there a way I can easily tune my overall keyboard?...it is not set to standard A440...it's slightly lower...I need to set its tuning to a standard tuning setting......thanks ahead of time....cheers and love from Canada!,,,,Kevin
Hi There! My MMT-8' hardware sequencers 'song mode' is not working as expected when I use more than one synth with it. All the midi channels are set correctly and everything works fine in 'part mode' when I do it manually. But in song mode, the midi-channel that contains the kick-drum data from my ROLAND JD-Xi multi-timbral synth doesn't active when the steps progress from 01 to 02 etc (it just stays deactivated). This happens when I incorporate my Bass Station II analogue synth for the bass parts. However, it works when ALL the sounds come from the Roland JD-Xi (i.e. including the bass part). I just experience the problem when I use my Bass Station II for the bass parts. Any Idea why this might be the case? Did I just purchase a faulty unit perhaps? Thank you.
Ok I have to change things on my desk.. :) Actually JD-Xi is on the left under the upper desk and Korg R3 on the right because of slightly bigger keyboard.. Gonna swap the positions..
Can you create a drum pattern that's got a different time signature than 4/4? like 3/4 , 5/8, etc. I have yet to see a tutorial explaining how to write a pattern in an odd time signature
Hello, yes you can! Just adjust the Tempo knob on the left side of the keyboard. Once you have the tempo that you would like to keep, just re-write the Program and the new tempo will be written.
Hi Ed, thank you so much for your tips, I've finally bought one and I'm very happy! I have one last question, could I record the change of a filter (like the cutoff) in the sequencer? I mean, for example, I would like the cutoff changes after a registration without touching the knob
Ed! I have a Roland jdxi and I’m having some issues. I erase all my patterns and when I connect my Roland tr8 midi sync to the jdxi I get this unwanted snare in syncs. I clear all patterns and I’m still getting unwanted sound from the jdxi! I’m really confused!!
Ed is it possible for me someone who doesn't know how to play keyboard or have any musical theory to play around and come up with some good rap beats or techno music
The jd-xi arpeggio doesnt trigger using external keyboards ! Roland we need an update thats utterly ridiculous , tiny frail keys so naturally people will want to use a nice midi full size keyboard and the jd-xi as a sound module , yet you left this basic feature out of its design . Come on ! Give us a firmware update that enables arpeggiator via standard midi keyboards please . That should already be included for the price of these and the cheap key board design on the jd-xi - Pathetic , considering selling mine because of these issues .
