Bill's hanging out in Gearwire Studio with one of his best buds, the Roland Juno-D. Not only is this peerless performance keyboard a steal price-wise, it's also easy to steal thanks to its surprisingly low mass.
*We don't know what happened to Bill's brain during this demo, but we do know that the Juno has 61 keys. Hey, it was friday.

Forgot to add..., the SH-201 is more a lead synth than a sole stand-alone production unit. It's more of an "add on synth" Due to limited poly it's not going to fucntion as a workstation either. The Juno uses 16 part performance sets and with a computer seq (using the Juno editor) it'll function more like a workstation. Considering the Juno also allows you to tweek the kits (along with having some great juno legacy patches) it'll do quite well for your styles of music.

The wonderful repainted RS-50. Roland ties with Yamaha in my mind in the synth world, but I just can not understand why they rebadged the RS-50 to make the Juno-D. While I love my RS, the Juno name deserved better.

how can i change the touch so when I press each key the volume is equal.

You may be in luck. Try this post: forums.rolandclan.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=24365 If it's anything like the RS series like this guy theorizes, then it should be under System. Just turn off and set default volume level to light, medium, or hard. Also, according to the Juno D synth specs manual, there are a couple of settings: Velo Sens Depth (Velocity Sensitivity Depth), and Velo Sens Ofs (Velocity Sensitivity Offset). archive.org/stream/synthmanual-roland-juno-d-owners-manual/rolandjuno-downersmanual_djvu.txt

I love this keyboard. Lightweight, great sounds. The thing I don't like is that I wish it had a key pad to bring up voices faster like I have on my Korg 01. But, got it at a great price $20. Who can complain?

I can't remember off hand the patch list on the Juno-D. I would suggest going to Roland's website and looking at the Juno-D manual. Have a look at the patch list under the synth section. If possible, I strongly suggest getting the Juno-D Le (limited edition). It's the same price, but twice the ROM. It has 64mb's compared to the 32mb's found on the Juno-D Classic.

Yeah I got one and it kicks some serious bad ass sounds.. There is a knock when you hit the keys hard, mainly because the Juno-D is super light.. This doesn't effect the overall performance of the machine. I like to play my Juno-D at high volumes and the sounds are quality.

That would really depend on how much you're expecting out of the synth and how you're wanting ot use it. The SH is a great VA synth and will function very well for lead patches, basses, and pads for your style of music. However, keep in mind the SH has a much lower poly count and its soundset has NO acoustic based instruments. The Juno has great patches that cover a wide range of music styles. If you're looking for ONE of these boards to do all the work the Juno would be your better choice.

@YoungMalcomX1 , a d-beam is a beam. haha. i don't know what it is exactly but all i know is you can control some effect by waving, moving your hands above the d-beam sensor . for juno d the sensor is at the top left.

hello there, would somebody be so kind to explain me if theres a huge difference between juno-d and juno-di? Im planning to get a new keyboard so I want to know which one really worths it

Whoa! If the Fantom Xa is one of your options don't even blink twice! TAKE THE FANTOM XA. The Xa was a very under-rated workstation from Roland. Unlike the other makers out there.., the Xa is def a "baby Fantom". Roland didn't cut every corner with the Xa either, unlike the others. Poly is 128, SRX expansion, it SAMPLES!, and more. That synth is worth every penny! If it were me I'd take the Xa hands down. The mirror to the Xa today is the Roland Juno-G (very close these boards are).

Alone. Put you can output into your DAW. Also has midi but not USB.

RIGHT?! I went to mine and despite knowing how to count on octaves I had to count key by key just to be sure

@@juanorta2124 Usually there are N-number of octaves. 5 octave keyboard has 5x12+1=61 keys. 3 ocatve keyboard 3x12+1=37 But that is just a general rule, there are 44-key synths as well.

me too..shazaam. w/ case and sustain pedal. the keyboard player in my old band had one and he really wrecked his because he was so heavy handed. I don't recommend this thing for people who really beat the hell out of the keys.

I bought one too for $300 from Guitar Center online about a year ago. I also ordered the original back pack style carrying case from Roland that has the Juno D logo on it. I'm actually quite satisfied with it as I've done about a 100 gigs already. My main concern was weight, as I'm not driving now and hauling heavy equipment around is a real drag. I have a 25 lb 600 watt Alto speaker plus 11 lbs from the Juno is a total 36 lbs I'm lugging. It was a toss up between the Juno D and the Korg X-50 which is real lightweight too. Sometimes I wish I had gone with the X-50 but that's maybe because I'm so familiar already with the Juno D sounds. As far as the knuckleheads here talking shit about it if I had found a 10 pound synth that sounded better, I would've bought it....I already said I ain't carrying heavy shit around anymore. I got plenty of heavy shit at home...

Sorry I don't care if this is cheap, it sounds it, little better than a home keyboard. Completely uninspiring to my ears. I'd rather save and get a secondhand V-synth which sounds far superior.

I have the RS-70 which is pretty much the same plus a few things but without a few juno extra sounds. I can say that this demo does not represent the qualitiy of the sound, but with the john lord organ - you are right.
