Demo nagrane dla portalu E-MUZYK.pl - prezentujemy porównanie brzmienia barw fortepianów Roland JUNO-DS 88 oraz Roland FA08. Klawiatury mechanicznie w obu instrumentach są identyczne :-)
I'm no expert but both keyboards sound really good to me. The pianist chose good pieces to demonstrate the piano sound for each keyboard. He's a good pianist too; I wish I could play as well as he does.
I have had both of these keyboards, the FA first then the DS. I was blown away by the DS. It's incredible what you get for the money and it sounds fantastic. I actually played it more than I did the FA. That's not to say the FA is not a great keyboard but on balance I feel you get a better deal with the DS88. If you really don't 'need' the extra features of the FA then save yourself a bunch of cash and go for the DS
What about surface of the keys? I played DS88 and I was not comfortable with roughened surface of DS88 keys. Does FA keys have smooth surface (as common in case of most keyboards) or rough (as DS88)? Thanks
They actually don't feel rough at all to me. If you try any recent Casio Privia piano you'll see those are quite rough. The DS88 in comparison is smooth with very slight texturing. The FA-08 and even the RD-2000 have the same keys and key-bed than the DS88.
Hello there, Which of these would you feel are more user friendly? I feel from the research I have done saving favourites, layering, splitting seems pretty straight forward! However, I am a beginner in the workstation world, but would love something to use for many years to come!
yamahamusicians hi my DS piano sounds like nylon Guitar. Any idea How to fix it? We compared it to our Juno D which has way better Grand piano sound. Thanks
Dzień dobry! Thank you for taking the time to play both keyboards. I is nice to hear just the piano sounds, since they are my "bread and butter". Listing to your Polish reminds me of hearing my grandparents! ¡Tengo un buen día!
This is a really good head to head clash. Coupled with fact that he's a brilliant pianist. Both Keyboards sound fantastic, especially given that at this time (2022) both versions of the 61 and 88 Note Keys can be bought at bargain prices. My one and only ciritique would be that it would have been nice to have seen the Patch names appear on the screen. Other than that, superb!
Ohhh great playing my friend!....I haven't much money but have just ordered the Juno on credit and will work my little socks off so when I come home from work I'll have a lovely piano waiting for me! What a lucky man! xx
Sigh!...They both are great keyboards with the sounds of both keyboards are similar in many ways...if i was to chose which to buy,i would be so confused....i guess the majority would go for the DS though.
Hello friend, good day .. I already saw that the keyboards of roland have the responsive of sensitivity of the factory keys more aggressive than those of the yamaha it is possible to arrive in the configuration of the same sensitivity of the keys of the yamaha ???
Mam pytanie.
Juno DS-88 win with warm and many classic sounds. Piano not supposed to be too bright as default. The mix will do whatever you want. FA-08 Piano too bright, and nothing you do because once you tweak, the sounds will be even more worse. That is amazing sound from cheaper and lighter keyboard.
That can easily be fixed with just a slight eq....as welll as some pianist prefer the thin highs just the way it is...so it comes down to a matter of taste..
It's probably due to your sound reproducing setup. Note, he is recording sound in acoustically threated room from studio monitors. Otherwise I'm pretty sure he plays factory presets with no edits whatsoever.
trying to decide between the two, I like the features on the FA and it has 2000 sounds already but the ds I could download the extra sounds. I guess if I can get the super natural sounds on the ds I would go with that one @$1000 vs $1700 for the FA
I'm trying to decide between the RD-300NX or the DS-88. I want a decent piano, but I would also like to perform and use this with Logic. I also own an Integra 7. Do I need the features on the Juno? Or should I go with the stage piano?
Rich Day I have the DS88 and the keybed is amazing. I don't have a real piano and this is the first keyboard that feels like a piano and I look forward to and want to practice more because of it.
I just bought my DS88 last week, after spending years performing on concert grand pianos, and the feel of the DS88 is just perfect, reminds me so much of a nicely set up grand piano. I can't believe the price on this thing, it's a great price for a lot of keyboard. A lot of people talk down to the DS88 because they think a $1000 piano isn't going to be good, but it really is. The main reason I bought it though was as a midi controller that I could use with some great VSTs I have, but I was so surprised at the DS88 stock piano sounds, that i haven't even tried to play my virtual pianos yet. All I can say is you can't go wrong with this!!!
FA08 is a great studio workstation because of the looper and layering The Ds 88 is great for live stage presence but will get boring if you are into making songs
❤ See your point if this is only software you own but great creative electronic music has been made for decades on simple analog equipment for decades . I'm not a keyboard player ,but looking back to the 70s and 80s the ds 88 is a pretty powerful piece of equipment that do great in any home studio or stand alone
They both have the same sounds/samples, it’s what Roland has been using for years. The only difference are the features. FA has a true 16-track sequencer, while the DS only has an 8-track “pattern” recorder that will only record up to eight measures. I didn’t need the 16-track sequencer, because I create tracks in my DAW, then I upload them into the DS as backing tracks when playing live with the band.
I asked at the music store and he said they do and in the specifications it says they have the same keys. This was my concern also. They feel great by the way.
1. Fa has full 16 track sequencer, DS doesn't, DS has 8 track 8 measure long songs "sketcher". But if you will use PC/Mac sequencer anyway, this is not an issue. 2. Fa has "supernatural" sound section and PCM sound section, DS has PCM sound section. "Supernatural" sounds generally sounds better than PCM sounds. If you are for production, FA has higher quality sound set. 3. DS allows to use user samples as basis for patches, 32 MB in total, meaning you can create your own sounds out of samples you like. You can't do this with FA 4. DS has PC/Mac sound editor/librarian software meaning you can program patches, performances on a big screen. There is no such an editor for FA meaning if you are interested in programming your own patches it will be easier and faster with software editor for DS. 5. By physical controls, look and out/in ports FA is slightly better than DS.
No. para mi gusto es mejor el juno ds sonidos mas definidos y potentes al mismo tiempo, la forma de tocar no es la misma en los 2 teclados deveria de averlo hecho igual. por lo demas bueno todo depende gustos.
I`m a Roland Person, I played with many series until now. Those two can`t be compare, first they are not from the same series. FA is the entire Derivate of Fantom`s and The DS is like Juno`s even the timber isn`t same. That means you can use them both if you like more differences on your sounds. Also the Roland FA got all the Juno DS inside is memory. TheJuno as a little part of the FA. The Fa as the Integra7, the Juno DS is inside the Integra as well. The FA is More Hight talking about sounds,
Please make a video to compare axial sound. then we really hear the diffrence. guess, juno ds and Fa have samme EXP -Collektion patches 1-10. only internal parameters in sound engine features will give diffence. axial.roland.com/category/juno-ds61_juno-ds88_xps-30/ and axial.roland.com/category/fa-06_fa-08/
I am intended to purchase a DS. I have been looking for the reason of its low price for more than a month. Can anyone tell me where the scam is? A Roland instrument with 88 notes hammer-action keybed and replacable/loadable waveform set? Below 1K Euros? If something seems too good to be true, it surely is. :-)
I dont want to argue guys., I have an FA and a JUNO Di..Ill go for the FA..u know why? Okay, lets start...FA has the inheritance of the INTEGRA-7 sound engine which consist of the SuperNatural sounds and PCM sounds from the legendary synths back in the 80s and 90s and the drum patches in this baby is derived from the ROLAND V-DRUMS which is also a "SuperNatural" drum sounds (YOU CAN EDIT WHATEVER YOU WANT IN THE FA..FROM CHANGING THE EFFECTS AND THE QUALITY OF SOUNDS, EVEN THE TONE OF THE DRUMS, AND YOU CAN EVEN ASSIGN THE DRUMS TO WHATEVER KEYS YOU LIKE) the most thrilling part is, IT HAS AN UPDATE! YOU CAN DOWNLOAD NEW ADDITIONAL TONES FROM THE "ROLAND AXIAL WEBSITE" IT CONSIST OF ANOTHER 10thousand UPDATED PATCHES FROM ROLAND (ABSOLUTELY FREE TO DOWNLOAD)..HMMMM...I MEAN, IT HAS EVERYTHING! the JUNO DS is just JUNO DS..well you can layer or edit tones but the UPDATES? NO! I mean, Common guys..you get what you pay for in the FA. maybe its expensive but IF YOU WANT TO SAVE A LOT OF MONEY GO FOR THE FA, COZ IT HAS UPDATES..What you get from the JUNO Family is ANOTHER KEYBOARD and another keyboard means?ANOTHER BIG AMOUNT OF PENNY FROM YOUR POCKET.. IT DOESNT HAVE AND UPDATES! So there is it guys..I explained it to you not everything but, I want you to think wisely..you decide on what you want to buy now.
Dont worry about the sound on the FA guys...no Argue,...EVERYTHING IS EDITABLE! Even the damper sound...question about the INTEGRA-7? Okay, it is the FLAGSHIP Sound Module in the ROLAND UNIVERSE!..so no questions ask..
Can't you add the Intregra 7 sounds to the FA? I hear that it's a bit fucky since they both share the Supernatural sounds. That allows you to add the Juno 106, Jupiter 80, and D50 sound packs if it works
I have to agree. I play in bands, and play many different types of music - and I use a piano patch about 1 in 5 times. It's a synth. Most of the time, I am layering two or more sounds.
128 voices and 16 parts has been common with Roland for over a decade.....within the structure of a regular song in reality it is rare for all 16 parts to be active at once so polyphony is rarely an issue
Both have the same feeling, but the DS piano gets little muffled on a keyboard amp. The FA keeps its brightness. The all other sounds are the same, derived from the XV5080 (a very old synth from the early 2000s). The only bonus you get from the FA are the screen and the SuperNatural Synths. I have the FA08 because the DS88 didn't exist back then. Need a Yamaha MOXF8 or better sometime since the Rolands are rubbish in the arpeggios department.
