About: The standard presets of the JV-1080/2080 are obviously not made for sound designers or techno producers but just for keyboardists and hobbyists who need lifeless acoustic interpretations. It frustrated me that I always had to dig deep and long to get proper sounds so I decided to change that. The JV has now become my go to machine for pads and strings and it was about time someone would make an upgraded sound library for this century (2020 here we are).
Days and days of programming passed by. It took a lot of motivation before I was finally satisfied with 128 presets that are presented in this soundbank. I made this as a dedication to this lovely machine that is just one of the best romplers out there. These sounds are usable in a wide stylistic range. The idea was to revitalise the sounds and make them perhaps a bit more contemporary and lush. The soundbank shows to me that this piece of technology from the past is still standing out for specific types of sounds. Options in software are great but the character of these waveforms and internal processing is something truly unique. This soundbank doesn’t aim to emulate anything!
The amazing thing is that this preset library only uses internal waveforms (no expansion needed) and it is compatible with most Roland Super JV models like the 2080 and XP,XV’s etc.
All patches are crafted with love and attention and the title says it all, this soundbank is perfect for movie space and underwater stuff or anything lush or atmospheric.
All sounds in this demo are copyrighted and use of this as sampling material is illegal.

Omnisphere eat your heart out. I prefer this to these hi fi sounds. Full of character. I recognize the stock sounds here and there… nice to hear them in a different context. Well done!!!

The JV1080 is a gorgeous sounding unit. No need for post proccesing with these. The main reason why I prefer hardware over software, to me the sound has much more depth, emotion and natural stereo spread. Love it.

I very recently pulled the trigger on a JV-1080 (I have yet to receive it). I am very tempted to get both the Interstellar and Bioluminescence soundsets after watching the videos. They both sound awesome.

@@Conforce of course, zero ports for expansion, non-touch sensitive keyboard, just aux, but when you are ~10 years old, in the mid '90s, it was like touching the rainbow. I really regret that I dont have cassettes with the music I did on it. I am very grateful to You, for Your music.

all internal. and i'm not even using the main effects. just the basic chorus and rev/delay connected to the oscilators

I bought this the other day and haven't had any joy transmitting the sysex file using Midi Ox. Do I have to set the Roland to some kind of receive mode?

@@Conforce Thanks, I did check that write protection was off. The MIDI in lights light up rhythmically while the transfer is in progress, but no patches change. I don't have access to an elektron device but will keep trying

Go get your mediocre bread and butter shit sounds for free then. Go spend weeks to find a decent patch in 20 free sounpacks with panflutes and cheesy pianos. You are probably also using a cracked roland cloud version. If more and for free means better to you. This is 2 weeks of full dedicated programming and research. you will get the best presets you will hear coming out of a jv1080 and I know because I turned every soundbank inside out. If that ain’t for you and your ‘everything is for free’ world then piss off. And also let me know if you find anything useful!
