A clear, nicely illustrated step-by-step walk through. Unhurried with plenty of chances to pause and duplicate the steps as shown. Exactly what I needed in a "Quick Start Guide" to get off the ground. Well done. Great sounding kits, too.
Thank you for some really great drum sounds. Love the "If Cadillac Made Drums" kit. And special thanks to Chris for the personal assistance with the download.
Thanks, Alan -- good info! My TD-17 module should arrive Friday. I held off getting one until I knew there would be VEX kits available. I'm hoping that the next pack you come out with for TD-17 is a MASTERS pack. I currently have it on my TD-15 and have used it on the TD-9 and TD-11 as well. It always seems to suit my playing style the best so I will definitely purchase it as soon as it is available. And I'm really hoping it will include a Def Leppard Rick Allen kit!
Thank you for this! Easy to follow.....but more to the point - the series 3 sounds much better to my ears and makes playing and practicing a whole lot of fun (kind of the point - I know)!! Great job and thank you again! Can't wait to see what else you have in store for the TD-17KVX (esp. samples)
@@VExpressionsLTD yes, please! I don't know if you use samples in all pads, but there is one kit in that expansion that sounds really similar to a vst! Good job! Hope to see more like that!
How come you guys don’t have any demo videos with your kits featured? The sound examples on your website are okay, but a video is better because you’re always aware of what drum is being hit. With a sound file, you don’t know what sounds are on a rim, etc. i’m not spending $70 without knowing what i’m getting..?
Great video Alan, any word on TD-25 videos? I know I asked you a couple of times on the vdrum forum, still loving the Records expansion pack for the 25, keep up the good work. You guys are awesome!!!
I'm re-exporting three other videos as I type. The files I uploaded had an error. The 25 was one of them. They'll be back up tonight. It's just the QuickStart at this time.
V Expressions LTD oh ok, I was wondering what happened, I saw the td-9 and td-15 videos up a while ago and then disappeared. Didn't see the 25 up, but I'll still check it out, even if it's just a quick start video. Thanks Alan!!!
Hi Alan, I'm new to drumming and got a TD-17KV, would you recommend designer or series3? I play 80's slow rock/classic rock, 90's to early 2000's alternative. Thank you!
This video is great, but I'm a little confused maybe someone can help. What if I don't have any user kits on my TD-17 module that need to be backed up...what would the procedure be...ie..Download Series 3 on computer...copy to SD card(what folder) then import to module???
If you've never made any tweaks to kits or pads that you wish to keep, then you don't absolutely have to do a backup. You can always select your pad setup after loading an expansion/backup. We recommend performing a backup simply because it creates the folder structure you need. The video covers the folder structure question. You will see it on your card once you've done a backup or format. The backup is always safer. Our instructions (and this video) show there your file will be placed. Hope that helps!
Question - can I do this with vdrumlib using midi over USB, with laptop and TD-17, or is the SD Card the only way? I was trying to set up vdrum lib specifically to install libraries on the TD-17 but so far can't even get the module and software to backup, so if this is the only way (not by USB) I'll give up and transition to this method (SD Card).
According to their website, VDL supports the 17. If you're having an issue, ensure your cables are not backwards. I would HIGHLY recommend the Roland USB-to-Midi cable. Many others are known not to work.
@@VExpressionsLTD thanks for the quick response! The VDL sites says it supports the td-17, yes, but the instructions (and your comment) are not in line with the td-17 logistics. The only midi din is OUT. So I cannot reverse the cables. But since info has to go both ways, this also tells me the din is not the way. VDL site instructions do not address this. td-17 uses midi over USB and I assumed that was the way, but the program does not see the module. Hence my question to you- for td-17, is the SC card the only way to install. I'll keep hunting ...
I forgot about that. It probably is only for recording/sending. You'll need to simply use an SD card. See our recommendations page for the one we recommend. You can still use VDL to organize and save. I have another video all about using VDL. See the latest one... I believe it is called Creating Collections. The file naming and placement part is important. (some of that is in this current video)
