Im thinking of buying this module together with the digital ride and snare. Do you think alesis strike pads work with this module? Im currently a Strike Pro Se owner and I was thinking of swapping modules. The cymbals dont matter, I have some spare lemons etc. I just want the Tom and kickpads to work. Love the channel
@laptoples
@laptoples Год назад
Hey dude !!! Sure, if you get the digital snare and ride, your Strike stuff should work fine. I have Yamaha cymbols in my set up and they work fine. Although I personally haven't tried it, but if Yamaha stuff works, then it should be fine...lol I basically have the TD27 for the main set up, and the TD17 for extra cymbols and stuff. If you like a big set, keep your strike module and you'll have a GIANT drum set....lol The only digital thing I have is the digital snare so far, but it's definitely worth it !!! It's as close as I've come to it feeling like a real snare. Next I want the hi hat which is crazy priced, then I'll get the ride cymbol. But I like my TD27, but as you can see in the comments, everyone is different. Basically, you can tweek anything with these tools, so, you can make it sound almost any way you want. There's an insane amount of options... Luke just showed the sounds out of the box. Its the hardware that I like. Expensive, but I haven't felt anything close to it that's better. Hope this helps !!! :-)

Hey Luke sorry if this is spamming your video comments. I have been using the TD-27 live now for a couple of years with your user samples which tbh, I wouldn't have gone live with out your kits! I am finding the cymbal sounds probably the most disappointing and wondering if upgrading to the TD-50X (with your user samples of course) would improve the "Realism" of the cymbal sounds? Of course I may be asking too much of a digital device to replicate analogue instruments. Or perhaps I should upgrade the TD-27 to FW 2.0 for a start?

Was wondering if RdB instruments were updated as I have a 3 zone ride? They're on the Data List, but nowhere to be found in my TD-27 module. Thanks
@TheeDrumWorkshop
@TheeDrumWorkshop Год назад
I'm not sure what you mean? There are ride bell instruments in both versions and none of the instruments themselves have changed from v1.11 to v2.00. If you're using a 3 zone ride, the bell will be assigned to the bell zone automatically when you assign a ride cymbal sound to the pad. If you want access to the ride bell sound to assign to a pad or zone on its own, you can turn off the H&R button (head and rim link) then you'll be able to cycle through the various articulations of any sound - so bow, edge or bell for rides, bow and edge for cymbals, head and rim for drums etc.

I believe I have replied to this on another platform, but in case anyone else reading wants the information - There is a "TRIG LOCK" label between the buttons ENTER and SYSTEM. Press these two buttons down together to enable the trigger lock function. Repeat to turn it off.

Greetings Luke, I’m having issues with my PD-85. The pad will often, and at random fire a "rim shot" (combo rim & head) signal but NOT a true rim sound when striking the rim. I’m using a TD-50 which was upgraded to TD-50X through the firmware upgrade. In the trigger screen, the position indicator of “center----outer”, shows the marker at one or two hash-marks just inside of "outer" area when I strike the rim. And at other times, the marker is all the way right to “outer” with a good solid rim click. I tried a test with a DP8 to verify the module or the pad as the cause, but the same result happened with the PD8. I’m wondering if the PD85 is compatible with the TD-50X. I’ve been trying to contact Roland for the last week but they haven’t replied. For the prices Roland products are, one would think customer service would be better. Your help would be appreciated if you might have a solution or suggestion. I’m considering a third party solution for an 8” dual trigger pad. Thank you for any help and for your time.

I’m on the fence about getting the TD27 or TD50. I REALLY want two floor toms and one rack tom. Digital HH, ride and snare. Will the TD27 support all that??
@TheeDrumWorkshop
@TheeDrumWorkshop Год назад
Hey! Yeah, the TD-27 has kick, snare, 3 tom inputs, hi-hat, ride, crash 1 & 2, then 3 more "AUX" inputs, so it will handle that just fine (Aux 3 is often assigned as a fourth tom on a lot of kits too). The TD-50/50X only has 2 extra inputs (Tom 4 and Aux 4), if that swings things for you. The sounds in the TD-50X are quite different compared to the original TD-50, the original 50 sounded much more like the 27. So it depends which sounds you prefer and whether or not you need the rest of the 50X's features.
@tx2jbh81
@tx2jbh81 Год назад
@@TheeDrumWorkshop I can’t convince the 👰🏻 that I “NEED” the 50x. So, the VAD504 w/ updated TD27 will support digital ride, HH and snare as well as a 10” tom and 2 floor toms, kick and TWO crashes???
@TheeDrumWorkshop

I just wish they would organize the kits better. For example there are a few jazz kits but the are far apart when scrolling. It's a small thing but quite an annoyance. Studio A is #1 but the next studio is 20 something I think.
@TheeDrumWorkshop
@TheeDrumWorkshop Год назад
Yeah, I understand the frustration! Have you tried out the set list function? You'd have to put in a bit of work to organise them yourself, but you can add up to 32 kits per list with up to 32 lists and you can name them whatever you like. You access it by hitting [F1] on the Drum Kit screen. Might be a halfway solution to organise them however you like?
@jamessullenriot
@jamessullenriot Год назад
@@TheeDrumWorkshop I never thought of using set list but that is an excellent use case. I only use a handful of their kits and then a few drum-tec kits and a few of yours. Probably between 20-30 kits I rotate between so I'm going to do that! Thanks for the tip. It still doesn't get Rolands horrible kit organization off the hook though 😂I used to have a strike module and theirs was the same way but they didn't have a view which logically grouped things together.
@TheeDrumWorkshop
@TheeDrumWorkshop Год назад
Hope it gets you closer to where you want to be! The only other thing I can think of is using the Copy Menu's "Exchange" function to swap your kits to the slots you want. So you go to KIT EDIT > OTHER > COPY > COPY KIT then choose the kit slots, but hit EXCHANGE instead of COPY. This swaps the kit slots around. However, doing it for all of them would take quite a long time since you have to do them one by one 😵‍💫 As you say, neither of them fix the root of the issue but they're workarounds that can help make your module more suited to your own needs!

Hi Luke, i just got the VAD504 kit, and the digital Hi-Hat keeps getting stuck with the chocked sound when playing an open hi-hat, like if i had my hand muting it. Have you heard anything about this?
@TheeDrumWorkshop
@TheeDrumWorkshop Год назад
Hi. I have heard of a few people having this issue and it seems to be a hardware problem with the pad itself. When other people have turned off the touch choke feature entirely (I can't remember the exact setting off the top of my head, maybe "Choke Sens"?), they have managed to stop it from happening. So this makes me think that the touch choke sensor is somehow triggering when it shouldn't be. I would recommend getting in touch with Roland and having it checked under your warranty, the "workaround" really shouldn't need to be done to have a usable set of hi-hats.

I updated mine and still not impressed with the new kits without a great deal of tweeking. Roland for some reason still fill the unit up with sounds than will never be used. I still prefer my kits that I have spent a lot of time making them sound like good kits, that is actually only 1 kit with 2 different snares and rooms sounds. Pretty much like any drummer would do with an acoustic kit. What Roland really need to do is fix the stupid card menu, it is primitive. In the modern world when most e drummers connect their kit to a computer why are we still forced to edit and work in a tiny little window and move your stupid card into the computer to do anything else. Then the way Roland sorts and numbers kits is annoying. So much so it really pisses me off.
