Ilderbrando great!! Rolando amazing, vocal and acting. you must buy this elisir! the best!! far far away from Alagna´s The Alagna elisisr i really good but this one!! WOW. For me Villazón is the best Nemorino i´d ever seen!!
Espectacular!!!!
Wow! Those two! Amazing acting from both of them, their voices are awesome, and you can tell just by watching them the love every minute of what they are doing! I think they are my favorite duet for this song.........
love donizetti ! this is great ! love D'arcangelo in this role, he has an amaizing voice and he's a great actor...also like Villazón here... i hope he come back soon..
I can agree with danjor. This DVD was a Christmaspresent from my parents and it's still my favoured DVD. The version of Alagna is good, Pavarottis is much better but this performance is sublime. Everything is perfect: the voices, the acting. Anna Netrebko is a great Adina, Ildebrando D'Arcangelo a perfect Dulcamara exactly as Rolando Villazon is a perfect Nemorino or Leo Nucci a perfect Belcore. In my opinion the best performance ever!
I totally agree. I've just watched Prendi, per me sei libero with Pavarotti and Battle. Of course, he is a great singer. But Villazon's performance is adorable. Nothing can match his acting in this opera. But that is just my oponion.
@Corenero: I've watched Rolandos "La danza" from the Waldbühnekonzert now and compared it with Pavarottis Version and in my opinion Rolands performance has no problem to match Pavarottis, no it's even better although Pavarotti sings it very well.
Furlanetto and Terfel are great actors too. Other singers who are very good in acting AND singing (in my opinion) are for example Thomas Hampson, Leo Nucci, Bo Skovhus, Sherill Milnes and many others.
Thanks. I love arias, but I like to think that opera is a "we" experience and the duets, trios, etc., bring out substance and texture in the singers that can't be done individually. I always want to know who shares the stage with the stars. Thanks again.
Ethratian, I respect your comment. But I can`t agree. Villazon is OK, but Pavarotti`s voice is unique. Are you sure about Villazon? See his version of "La Danza" And tell me...
Corenero you're right. Pavarotti's voice is unique, but so is Villazons. In my opinion Rolando is Domingos successor. His voice is flattering exactly as Domingos. Pavarotti was able to sing very high effortlessly, but I still prefer Domingo or Villazon. Nevertheless Pavarotti is one of the best tenors ever but compared to Domingo his voice is not as good as Domingos. And even if somebody prefers Pavarotti he can't really claim that Luciano has more than a perfect voice
...Y pasan los días, meses,años, LA GENTE VIVE , EL MUNDO CAMBIA CADA MINUTO...Y MANRICO CUAL PUERTA DE ALCALA VIENDO PASAR LA VIDA DETRAS DE SU COMPUTADORA JAJAJA
i think you've hit it on the nose. he has made several highly inappropriate comments about people's nationalities. it's really a shame he pollutes so many wonderful videos with his endless supply of immature retorts
The Americans also had Warren, Merrill, Milnes, and now they have...ummm, Hampson? Hehe, not quite the heir right? Nevertheless, opera, and the arts in general, doesn't respect nationalities, great singers can come from anywhere; it just so happens that Latinos are particularly standing out right now.
jesus christ, leave villazon alone! he is one of the finest tenors today despite his flaws! there is clearly more to opera than reaching your narrow definition of "excellence". look at callas! much less, netrebko! i think villazon is one of the most charming figures to cross a stage despite his problems, and if you can't see why, then i'm sorry because it seems like you're missing out.
Maybe he has a crush on Villazon? Seriously though, it was easy to dismiss him as a purist, but seeing his comments on virtually every Villazon video, and how he also commented negatively on Ramon Vargas, a tenor who has hardly ever received a negative review, I dunno, maybe he's a racist.
I would like to apologize for my son's words of insults. You must leave him alone because he will turn violent against others who are innocent. I understand he makes you angry but that is his intentions. I ask you to support him with words of encouragement not insults. He had a very rough childhood and I was not there for him. It is my fault that he is very angry. It is manrico60s choice to be gay and to be rude. He enjoy's preverted actions that he learned from his friends.
i personally don't care much for many aspects of callas' nor netrbeko's voice, but my point was that they brought something to opera. look at pavoratti. technically awful, couldn't even read sheet music, but one of the most beautiful voices we've ever heard. you can't judge everyone by ridiculous standards. you need to stop being so ridiculously defensive and close-minded and allow yourself to be moved. and, by the way, do you have a job? or do you attack people on youtube professionally?
Manrico 60: In the world of opera, the voice and the acting are part of the show. You have to know that in Mexico like in all the world we have great artists like Villazón and more and we have bad singers and actors but only the stupids minds can write like you, if you don´t like it don´t see it.
In my opinion it's better (in an opera) not to be the best singer but to be a good actor too instead of beeing the best singer but a worse actor. (Excuse my bad english ;) ) But please note: This is MY PERSONAL OPINION and noone hast to agree with me.
the only thing funnier than his acting is the horrible expression that comes across his face every time he has to sing above an f. Technique is clearly a thing of the past.
