I HIGHLY recommend going to his shop so he can take the measurements in person. If you do it yourself, you're really taking a chance. And with the waits so long and the prices so high, you don't want to make a mistake. @@almostvintagestyle
Never seen your old vids but this is great. The longer, less edited style of reviews are a lot more genuine I find and it gives you time to actually explain the boots lol! Don’t try to break your back to please ppl asking for short vids, they probably don’t even watch them all anyways ! Keep it up man can’t wait to see what else you have to show us
His old videos were gold! He was reviewing leathers no one had touched yet. Also talking about boot makers outside U.S. like Flame Panda. Throwing out tons of experience.
I really enjoyed this video, man!! As I’ve said before, hearty congratulations on the marriage, and hearty ‘welcome back’ on the RU-vid channel. And thanks for the shoutout; that’s a massive honor. Glad you’re back….And yeah, RC prices have almost doubled now 😳😄, but I’m thinking it’s totally worth it (though I don’t have mine yet).
One thing I will say, Brian does is handwelting, last I checked, similar to how early goodyear welt was done where a machine was used to cut a flap and then turn them up. Unless he changed, he doesn't curve the holdfast in a way clinch does or high end bespoke shoes do. Early on in the goodyear welt, they recognized (according to DW frommer) this wasn't durable and would reinforce with gemming and eventually just switched to gemming. Brian basically just does the goodyear welted way by hand and without reinforcing with gemming, so it wouldnt surprise me if something like Lofgrens that seem to use a gemming that take up most of the area of the insole (or maybe reinforced with something) are actually more durable.
Totally agree with you about the types of videos to make. I take the same approach, minimal to zero editing. If it’s not fun then why do it. Also totally agree with the Role Clubs being shockingly light and small compared to other engineers. It still kind of blows my mind haha.
Nice! I got a new place in SF (rent controlled!) and moved in with my partner since then as well. And got my first Japanese leather. Onward and upward! Congratulations!
The reviews are great. Screw perfection. I’m here for information. I’d totally get some but I’m too impatient to wait 2 yrs. After 4 yrs of wearing I think you’re qualified to comment 😄
I have recently taken the plunge into the awesome world of engineer boots and ordered a pair of John Lofgrens. When the time eventually comes to get them resoled, could you recommend any cobblers who could restore the boots to the originally designed standards?
@@almostvintagestyle that's awesome I just assumed that you influenced her because I don't think I've seen an Americana or whatever the style is called woman in person before. I've seen pin up girls role playing for cars shows but that's about it 🤔
