Thank you for calling out the BS spouted out by grey dealers for the last few months regarding the Pepsi. They are starting to feel the pain they put enthusiasts through for the last several years.
Rolex is disappointing yeah. The other brands are ok I think. The cartier dual time and tudor coke piqued my interest. Outside of my budget range the ALS and Moser tourbi offerings are decent.
So they can upsell us to what is released - mostly PM references Edit: If customers can’t afford PM, the new Tudor releases have been cleverly positioned (new BB41 monochrome aka caffeine free Sub) to keep customers in the Rolex family.
Fully agree on 1908. On side note, couple of days ago I got my "team boring" watch 124270 explorer and I think watch is cursed. I cannot stop wearing it. It's the best watch ever made.
I still love my LV reverse monogram nkuwan clutch! It's versatile, fits a variety of items, and is definitely a workhorse! I think seeing it everywhere (like the LV speedy) is proof that it's already a classic.
I feel like we, as customers, need to recalibrate our expectations for an industry that should not really be a hypefeast each year. Maybe I am wrong but I think watch releases should be boring most of the time being something that is supposed to last a lifetime if not longer. New Dial colors are absolutely fine with me - I really don't need new hype year after year after year. I would rather have the opposite and start ADs stop behaving like gatekeepers.
I think they're just copying the bicycle industry now. Every year churning out over hyped products at even higher prices with little improvement or innovation. Some bicyles are edging close to the $30k AUD mark now, more than a motorcycle. Customers just lapping it up to keep up with the Joneses.
Pretty good year. I like the black/grey, more low key then a pepsi and I really like the green hand/text but thats just me, I like em subtle. Any idea on when the hands on video for rolex or tudor to drop? i cant wait 😜
I agree that the new 1908 is their best release, but I think the small seconds circle takes away from the beautiful guilloche dial. I would have liked to see a central second hand and the number 6 at the bottom.
The new GMT looks really cool! I'm on the wait list... and yes, I absolutely agree with you on the best new Rolex...that 1908 is beautiful...for Rolex standards this is big!
Really impressive in front of someone else filming, Adrian! Punchy as ever. Love it! Also: great that you're at W&W; look forward to your roving reports ...
I concur the platinum 1908 is absolutely stunning and Rolex is finally showing some high horological chops! Dial is stunning! By the way the Batgirl is the GMT master 2 to have!
Stunning 1908 ..and in fairness it’s reasonably priced ! (Can’t believe I just said that ..as it’s a lot of money !) ..but compared to the diamond Daytonas it is ..and the 1908 has real class and an elegance ..and that blue dial ..wow !
Happy with what Rolex have done honestly, a gap year to slow down the hype train in the steel sports watch range is a good thing for regular collectors
Well done by Rolex - keep the DNA, do not introduce too many new models. This keeps the value of the brand. The 1908 Platinum is a friendly "attack" on Patek at this price point, where the handwound Calatravas in Gold are starting.
Wait Adrian… grey is your colour !!! Thought it would be your fav!!! But I have heard you say you like a splash of colour on your watch due to your grey attire!! But another shock - you didn’t mention the terrible choice of strap on the gorgeous 1908… I think it would pop on a light beige type strap.. and you are the strap whisperer!!! Enjoy the week!!!!
Glad the Pepsi is here to stay. Even if I can’t get it, I like to know that it’s still possible. I gotta think the market for a full gold deep sea is very small.
Wouldn't it be a novel idea if Rolex didn't come out with anything new instead, they announce they will be ramping up production on current models so they can catch up on all their waiting lists.
Yes, diamond and gold/platinum encrusted Day-Dates, Daytonas, GMTs - and that 1908. But where are the (more affordable) Submariners, Datejusts and Oyster Perpetuals?!
I am surprised by 1 thing: not a single release or modification for the Datejust line which is usually more dynamic (new dials every year)? Isn't strange? Why?
Rolex used to be something, when I was growing up, the coronet looked magical , I would walk through my hometown up to the window of the dealer and gaze with wonder at them. They were something to be admired. They had that perfect movement inside them. now the direction of Travel appears to be more gold more diamonds in a desperate attempt to make billions.
If a grey market dealer says they think a certain watch is going to be discontinued and they don’t temporarily pull their listings down for that watch, don’t believe them; they’re either trying to push sales or don’t have any conviction.
Are the pairing down their production so that there is not so many variats? Feels like it the green hand and text is an afterthought and just taking from sprite parts. Its weird and bland almost.
@@mindgraphy_ I've visited several local dealers in LA, SF, and NYC and, just like Rolex boutiques, they won't sell watches on display. Maybe because I'm in high-demand markets? If you know someplace that has one within 500 miles of LA, I'll drive there!
Somewhat surprisingly, the video feels very different when you’re not holding the camera. Perhaps a bit more “Journalism” rather than feeling like I’ve been personally invited to join you on an adventure. Jury’s still out on the preference, but great stuff, man.
I don't see the grounds for disappointment voiced in the comments. There was a lot of speculation about a new Milgauss or Coke GMT II, but these offerings are fantastic for the right buyers. I'm in the wrong tax bracket for a platinum anything but I really like the idea of a 1908 (haven't held one to qualify that). I think I like how the grey GMT II bezel works with the steel and gold model more than an all steel model. I hope you enjoy Geneva fully, Adrian!
