Rolex as an Investment in 2024

Recent price increases, along with a drop in demand from flippers, has put the breaks on the crazy market we saw for Rolex and some other watch brands in 2020-2022. But is Rolex still a good investment, even now? Or should I focus on other priorities?

Brilliant plan! I honesty think that paying down your mortgage as fast as practically possible is the best possible investment you can make. Think of all that interest you are not paying!

Hi Mark totally agree with you .I have a very fiscal job building house's so don't wear them in the day as they would just get smashed to bits.but if I didn't have this job I definitely would wear them all the time and rotate the collection. Your life changes when you finish paying off your mortgage etc and suddenly you have money to spend on things you want to do or own.my advice is always save up and buy the watch outright or don't buy it as you probably can't afford it. Hi John, I am careful to take it off if I'm engaging in some heavy impact work, and building would definitely be included in that! The nice thing about wearing it out on the water is you know that nobody is going to mug you for it!

Well the world is your oyster once the house is cleared! Heavily top-up the pension fund so you can retire and enjoy nice things without having to worry. Go on nice holidays and make memories with the family. Maybe buy the odd cheeky watch, totally guilt free...!

Iif you have a lot of money and want to buy for invest why not,but for me if ibuy a rolex its for use it all the time...i have a rolex airking 34mm and i use it everyday,love it....

Absolutely agree, I'm just saying make sure your watch investment is giving you a better return than paying off your other debts, and therefore paying less interest....

Watches are not an investment, they do not create residual value like a dividend stock does. But they are a hedge against inflation. Any commodity that is a store of value is the same.

I'm not sure how residual value and dividends are linked, as dividends are not guaranteed, and also how a watch is a hedge against inflation, but you do your thing! As I said, I'm not an expert, but I know what makes sense and what doesn't.

GMT clasps aren't like the micro adjustable Sub and SD clasps. I would have to add a whole link, which then skews it the other way. Clasp is perfect just where it is on my wrist.

@@Cloud_Ken fair enough but borrowing money to make a calculated risk on an investment is not a concept that I would be comfortable with. What happens if your investment bombs and you're still carrying the debt, is the reason it's a no from me. I've always said if you don't have the money in the bank it means you can't afford it...

Hi as a property developer and landlord I do understand about risks and low interest rates but when you are talking about none essential watch purchases it is mad to take on debt for luxury watches. My advice if you want it pay off your mortgage as soon as you can (preferably with in15 years) and if you are going to invest in something (not watches unless you can buy them outright )have a substantial deposit incase the market changes.thanks John

@@TheRandomWatchDude The Rolex video about The Hour Glass you deleted where you were whining about not getting more watches. You had phone call with management from Melbourne headquarters which would've been W.L (unless she was on holidays at the time). They offered you watches to remove your Rolex video as they don't like negative publicity. It's that easy. You know exactly what I'm talking about. I've been buying watches long enough mate. I know everybody in the industry.
