Thanks for shining some light on the Datsun Roadster. The cars were very successful on the race track. Big name drivers included Peter Brock, John Morton, Jack Scoville and Bob Sharp. These cars won championships in the 1600 and 2000 classes. They were the predecessor to the 240Z. If you study the front end you can see the heritage. In 1969 both the Roaster and the Z car were manufactured. The early versions of the roadster were the low windshield cars. From 1963 until 1967. The 1968, 1969 and 1970 models are the tall windshields. As the cars became more popular in the United States and Europe the height of the windshield was raised to accommodate taller drivers allowing their heads to be fully behind the windscreen. I'm an owner of a 1969 2000 that came with the U20 engine and twin Hitachi S/U carbs that were also used on the 240Z cars.
