I recently switched from 10th planet after 3 years to Carlson Gracie and for the 1st time I have a sense of pride representing a team. Carlson Gracie all the way.

Also it's an ego-free environment, I sense a "no one left behind" philosophy, everybody helps each other. I really enjoy every second of the classes.

I miss Carlson Sr & Jr. What great warm and friendly people. I had opportunity to train with Sr. & Jr. I am now in Brasil. I miss these guys!

Carlson Gracie Jr., is a good man. I was a student of Rickson Gracie when Carlson Sr. had his academy down in Los Angeles area back in the 1990's. Carlson Gracie Jr has a lot of love for his father. I lost my father in 2007 a couple years after Carlson Sr passing. I love hearing about his experiences while growing up as Carlson Sr son.

There's a movie called Gracies and the Birth of Vale Tudo. It gives a comprehensive account of the history of BJJ and focuses more on Carlos Gracie's descendants. Carlos was more encouraging and positive whereas Helio was tough and somewhat callous. There's a familial rivalry between the brothers and the documentary portrayed Helio as jealous of his brother and nephews.

I've seen it several times. Carlos's side is basically more willing to explore other fighting styles and philosophies. They're also not so crazy about branding everything for the purposes of making money.

The love that JR had for his father is touching. We tend to love our kids unconditionally, it's great to see Carlson JR love his father unconditionally as well. Nothing wrong with calling your father daddy, if you feel it.

Cauli Kid, Carlson Gracie is a great guy. I was a student of Rickson Gracie when Carlson Sr and his son Carlson Jr was in Los Angeles ( Hollywood is where their academy was i think).

Carlos Gracie was more open minded to learning from other styles in a way. One example is how he made sure his fighters all had really good hands. Wallid, Belfort, Bustamante, Nogueira brothers etcetera. Having said that he was supposedly a lot more demanding of his fighters too. Belfort and him parted ways after the loss to Sakuraba.

Man .. I got a bit choked up listening to Carlson Jr speak of his dad. I am Carlson Gracie Sr and NOW Carlson Gracie Jr's biggest fan! I love the Champion Factory and all of its champions even if they made some decisions that the GM didn't like. I'm sure they all wish they could do a "do-over" but alas ... real life is not like that. ARREBENTACAO! Carlson Gracie Team FOREVER!!!

Junior is such a humble and friendly dude. He also is running 90+ schools, so he's not always at the HQ Chicago school. Aside from being a jiu jitsu expert, he's a 6-time Brazilian national champion in Greco Roman and freestyle wrestling.

JR. is also great with kids, very charismatic and the kids respond to him. He showed my daughter a move last Friday with detailed technique and my daughter was surprised at how quick her roll partner tapped. I only met his father once or twice but I was in my 20's and did not understand his greatness at the time.

Wonder who he was talking about having great jiu-jitsu but MMA not for him, and he said his first fight was his retirement fight. Two names that come to mind that it could have been are JJ Machado and Marcelo Garcia-- two of the greatest no gi grapplers of all time, but badly failed MMA debuts.
